Yea Yea, The GI mags work if in good shape. lol, FYI. My FN FNC factory mags do hold the bolt/carrier open on the last round, Kind like the Yugo AK mags, But when the mag is removed the action closes. I have P mags and they are tight in some receivers. Still enjoyed.

Interesting to the the entire rifle do the wave in slow motion.

At 4:20, the bolt mechanism appears to be a giant spider dancing on the receiver.....

Depends on the GI mags, the newer and the rebuilt mags work a lot better than the old mags did, but then again I spent a lot of years running the old mags and many of them have the same issues that the 1911A1 had, too many years & too many rounds run through them with too little maintenance. I've rebuilt both and had them run like new and in most cases better than new.

I can remember the gun rag publications stating this was the last and most advanced 5.56 rifle to be made on commercial military scale as caseless weapons would be taking over : )

Guido Schriewer

bolt and piston looked rather reliable but compared with others... not exactly the very 1st joice of 556 market back then.

Dust cover is very cool on that one. . .and kudos to Mag Pul for making the anti-tilt upgrade followers for folks with metal GI mags in addition to the complete polymer mags they sell by the freight car.

I have a fixed stock FNC I got about 1984. Works fine, 1" groups at 100 yds if I do my part. I bought a couple of new surplus LA85 mags a number of years ago. Two of the three would fall out of the gun after 5 or 6 rounds. A check with a micrometer indicated the two failing mags were narrower that the one that worked, or any of my other 5.56 mags. A screwdriver inserted in the mag catch slot followed by a blow from a hammer fixed both mags and I've no trouble since.
