French Trials VHS-F2 Croatian Bullpup

http://www.patreon.com/ForgottenWeapons https://www.floatplane.com/channel/ForgottenWeapons/home Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! http://shop.forgottenweapons.com HS Produkt of Croatia makes an interesting modern bullpup rifle, the VHS. The rifle has gone through several major design iterations in the past two decades or so, and the most recent version (the VHS-2) was part of the competition to replace the FAMAS in French military service. It ultimately placed second, behind the HK 416, and I have been very interested to get a closer look at one for some time. Well, today I was able to! What we have here is not just a VHS-2, but actually one of the group of rifles actually tested by the French, designated a VHS-F2. It has the longer of the two barrel lengths (about 19 inches) and uses STANAG M16-type magazines (although a FAMAS-magazine adapter was developed and offered). So let's dig into it! Really cool - wish they would bring them here

Very cool, amazed it hasn't shown up in more games and movies

Love my HS-2000, picked it up when they first came in, and before Springfield decided to slap their name on them. I'm not real big on bullpups, but I would like to get my hands on one of these. BTW loving Thorneycroft to SA80 by Jonathan Ferguson, not just a great reference book, Thanks Ian, can't wait for the next offering, wife is still saying she can't wait until December for the new book Pistols of The Warlords.

Surprised the French didn't pick this over the HK.

Brilliant design. I’m particularly impressed by the ambidextrous features. Oh how I wish they imported a civilian version to the States

Clearly, a great deal of thought went into the design, including the easy tear down features, the swappable grenade launcher component, the left-right handed features... Very, very nice. It looks really solid, too. Thanks for introducing us to this work of art, Ian!

With this being the VHS, will the next iteration of this design be the DVD?

Guido Schriewer

famas sure looks better. that one just as sure has way more modern features. isn't a canted campin somewhat more fragile? could hear recruits go "what side to eject this way?" already.

Thomas Walls

OK but is the VHS tape inserted on the side or from the bottom?

Once again many thanks! Another excellent episode👍
