A Tour of Varusteleka: Outdoor and Military Specialists

The time for me to give a proper callout to Varusteleka is frankly long overdue. I've been working with them for years now, and they have never asked for anything in return for hosting Karl and I for three annual Finnish Brutality matches now. In a world where most surplus stores have turned from actual surplus to mediocre Chinese airsoft-tier kit, Varusteleka continues to find lots of actual surplus from all over the world (complete with ACTUAL USABLE SIZING GUIDES), and has eschewed the cheap gear in favor of creating their own brands of top-quality clothing and equipment. Intended to serve both the general outdoor enthusiast and the Finnish military (both active duty and reserve), their Särmä TST line is as good as it gets. Every item is deliberately designed to give the best service, in ways that only real field testing can inform. The non-military line is just as good, with copious use of luxurious merino wool and wonderfully practical designs like Woolshell and the Särmä merino wool hoodie. It's not cheap, but it is worth every dollar, and I have found myself replacing most of my own wardrobe with their products, at my own expense (although they don't have a good line of hot weather clothing yet, for some reason!). If this be shilling, I am happy to be guilty of it. I filmed this at my own behest, and without any remuneration. It is wonderful to find a company that has the mindset, integrity, and quality that Varusteleka does, and I look forward to watching their further progress towards Total World Domination! http://www.Varusteleka.com My particular favorites: Woolshell: https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-tst-woolshell-jacket/59958 Merino hoodie: https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-merino-wool-hoodie/30651 Tactical jeans: https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-tst-tactical-jeans/58865

I used to work as an engineer for the company that created & installed the Logimats & could probably tell you how to run and hideously break one

Okay, that was really interesting Ian, thanks for taking the time and energy for the introduction to Varusteleka. Being a rye snob myself, that bottle looked interesting. Was it good hooch or a hard pass? PS: These guys are indeed cool AF "Even though we love the whole ‘’Kill it with fire’’ concept, we have decided to sell these products with a discount, because it is smarter than destroying fully working gear." Awesome!

I would be like a kid in a candy store! nice stuff.

It's excellent rye, made by Kyrö. I actually visited the distillery while I was there, and filmed a video that will post in a while.

I have always wondered about your shell jacket, when you have filmed wearing it, Going to have to order one now, as I know now where to get one.

I can attest that they ship fast and it arrives in the US as fast or faster than anyone in the US except Midway. I bought three different merino wool socks to try. Then this week I ordered 7 more pair of the middleweight, and before next winter I plan to order 7 pair of the hiking weight. Good stuff.

It was really cool to see their inner sanctum - thanks! I've ordered from them several times now, and no matter if it's a single pair of (new) pants, or a bag full of kinda smelly 30 y/o Combloc surplus, it got here (to Holland) super fast too, even when it's just by regular postal service. Would totally recommend as well.

Star Wars fans? I'm definitely going to look at their clothes now

I love Varusteleka gear. Not only is their stuff well made, they have excellent customer service. I particularly like the same tacticool jeans that Ian is wearing in the video. Very comfortable and lots of pockets!

just checked the online shop. good stuff and fair enough prices. would love to meet the dog. that looks a freaking cool outfit. one heck of a workplace. man that is nice clean modern... was into logistics for a good while. that beats a some dusty shelves by far.

Thank you so much for doing this, as someone who loves this shop and badly wants to visit someday, this was the next best thing. I appreciate the great video!

I am not sure what you are going with this video. I expect something to do with forgotten weapons not a information video selling outdoor gear.

Patrick Yamada

Thanks for the behind the scenes video. Any idea where I can get a Finnish army cap "pip" like you wore in the Brutality match?

Seems Jari and Where’s the Liquor crew are a humorous group.
