Just to expand on Ballistics gelatin - the reason why 10% ballistics gel is formulated as is because it replicates the penetration depth of a live/fresh swine leg from a 50-70KG animal within 3% of depth (Fackler Et. Al, "Bullet fragmentation: a major cause of tissue disruption" J Trauma Jan 1984).
