I desperately wanted to go to that auction just to watch and see, but Desert Brutality killed my wallet. Gotta make the money back to do the fun things again.

Isn’t the CMP dumping a load of 1911s onto the market sometime soon now?

2021-08-14 02:48:49 I tried some of the Rock Island auctions, using the on-line bidding system, in 2018 & 2019. Felt that 1) the auctions were not on-line friendly but more oriented to in-person bidding, and 2) that I was out of my league - other bidders had way more to spend then I did. I may take a second look at some of the other auctions based on your discussion. I’m also seeing the prices creep up on the Cold War era guns I’m collecting. Don’t encourage them! Oh, us Boomers go as late as the early 1960s. I’m a Trailing-edge Boomer born in 1962. No, I’m not a Gen X! Nice to see you guys (finally) recognizing that you, too, will become the old farts!

FWIW, I would not use the RIAC Live online bidding myself. If I'm not there live in person, I would either use a sealed bid or a phone bid. I don't like the idea of live participation via a web interface, and I definitely don't like paying an extra 1% premium when I can phone bid for free.
