Why did I see the screen shot and immediately think of "The Graduate?"

Nate

Good idea. I hear people talking people losing guns all the time in boating accidents. Maybe you will find something interesting 😂

Almeida

I support this idea 100% it's also fun.

Hi, guys! I'm bbbbblblblblbllllbbbbllllblblblblblbbb. :)

Charles Adams

Pay a visit to 'Iron Bottom Sound'? That might be interesting.

Ian, work on getting your full face mask Certification as soon as you can. As much as SCUBA opens a whole new world, utilizing a full face mask makes it even better. My first dive with a full face mask was emotional as there is no fog, you breathe normal is just amazing. Sadly I can no longer dive due to a neck injury and surgery (I was on a Sheriff's Office dive team and hold several advanced certifications). Good luck and I hope you love it as much as I do/did.

Full face is one of the certifications at the top of my list, along with dry suit for cold water. I am curious about using a radio system to be able to record audio underwater in a full face mask, rather than record voiceovers on dive footage.

Welcome to the club.

This video is giving me uncomfortable recollections of The Graduate.

Luci

Welcome to our underwater world!

Since you mentioned Malta, if you go back there I can recommend contacting DiveWise in St Julian's. I've been very happy with them the times I've been there on dive trips.

Admit it, with your love of all things French, you wanted to emulate Jacques Cousteau. I would always watch his show with rapt attention myself.

John Spangler

Gee, clearly documenting the need for this certification as a business expense. You obviously need a "dive partner" for safety reasons too, so that would be a business expense too. Even if you have to maintain proficiency looking at pretty fishes in various places. Well done!

"Hi, guys, I'm Ian McCollum, and today I'm here at the IJN Shinano at approximately 32°N 137°E to examine some of the firearms that were stored on this ship. I'd like to thank my patreon supporters, for providing me the opportunity to travel and find such locations..." No shipwreck is safe now.

Ryan Butler

Wrecks are usually stripped bare by scavengers if they aren’t crazy remote or dangerous. But seeing your first one even from the outside is still cool as all hell.

If you are interested in a future summer trip to southern Sweden for some bigger guns to film, here's a museum you might find interesting: http://www.artillerimuseet.se/eng-tyska/english-43520438

"...and today, we're at the bottom of the Indian Ocean, taking a look at some interesting guns that sank 100 years ago."

Mr Cousteau, my childhood hero, and a co-inventor of the Aqua-Lung, the first Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. 💖

If Ian’s house ever catches on fire run, run like FAR away! Between all the ammo and now high pressure gas cylinders it is going to go with a big boom.

Dana Arbeit

You are going to love diving. Lots to see underwater in many places and now you will need underwater video equipment with lights and tons of other stuff. Have fun.

There are the old quarries in Germany that, at the end of the war, the Germans just dumped all their equipment in rather than have the Allies capture it. Military vehicles, weapons, ammunition, etc... They are protected, but you can still swim around and look at them. We did a lot of quarry diving when I was posted to Lahr, to see all the stuff...

Chris Crowther

One of my cousins does a lot of wreck diving and underwater photography; looks awesome. He does rebreather training as well.

The Thistlegorm awaits!

Welcome to the club Ian. :) Once you get your advanced open water and deep dive certs, check out Truk lagoon (also known as Chuuk) in Micronesia. Best WWII wreck location in the world and most are within rec diver limits. Check out the Dirty Dozen Expeditions for details.

Next time you Come to finland you can go driving

Jason

So where in the Tucson area can you do an open water dive? The stream in Sabino Canyon doesn't have enough water for that type of dive! You are in the Sonoran Desert.

Anonymous

You are going to have all sorts of new data points to keep in mind as you get further into diving. Decompression stops, gas ratios, bottom time, etc.

Definitely would be something completely new and rad for the channel if you managed to do an underwater shooting vid with the APS or any underwater "fire"arm.

Ian, Hope you don't have to shave your moustache to avoid mask leakage.

I love guns very much, but my fascination with ships and ship wrecks began with my first NOVA documentaries on "Titanic" and "Britannic" when was 5 or 6 years old. Any content on similar topics would be very very welcome.

I’m a big fan of scuba. Nice that your wife is keen. Mine couldn’t handle the experience so I don’t end up diving much anymore. Enjoy!
