Simply beautiful! Congrats, Ian!

Anonymous

That’s awesome! What was the other rifle?

Anonymous

I would say your like a kid at Christmas but I don’t think it comes close!

Anonymous

This is just one reason we give you money, Ian! Do you have a line on an FR-F2?

Minion

Aha! Holy relics 😉

Anonymous

That is amazing. While my project is much less cool, this is seriously encouraging me to work on my yugo 76 kit.

Anonymous

Love it, love it, must see, must see, give'me now, give'me now, or I'll sulk ;-(((((

Anonymous

I'm getting a whole Maltese Falcon vibe from this--of course, without the "It's a fake!" ending.

Anonymous

Very nice.

Anonymous

Santa came a little early!

Jason

Congratulations! Magnifique!

Anonymous

Then FR F1 you just mentioned this the other day. Well done

Gorgeous rifle. Hopefully the import marks are subtle

Anonymous

That’s a stunning rifle, but aren’t bolt guns obsolete 😜. I can’t wait for that video.

Anonymous

Very cool, but why is it that ALL the Apocrypha videos have poor sound? I have my computer volume turned all the way up and it's difficult to make out what is being said.

makovette

French Gold, amazing! Congratulations and may the crater in your wallet heal quickly 😁 Curious what is in the other other rifle case too!

Anonymous

Pretty cool ,slick smoke pole. Good luck

Anonymous

This is like an adoption video of the sweetest pet ever to the perfect home for it. Ha ha, I'm all teary.

Anonymous

How much did it cost to import it? Not the rifle itself, but the I assume taxes, fees and shipping.

Anonymous

I'm watching this with a grin on my face . Your enthusiasm is contagious .

Anonymous

I want 6

Ferrous

Looks like Christmas comes early! Awesome stuff!

Anonymous

Very nice. I definitely understand you wanting to return it to original. But truth be told if it were mine I'd have left it in 7mm-08. That's a great little round.

Anonymous

I have to ask, what was the other rifle?

Anonymous

Would you consider doing a video on how to import a firearm?

Anonymous

Congrats Ian, serious awesomeness

Anonymous

But Ralphie, you'll shoot your eye out. :-)

Anonymous

Looks awesome! Why is that bipod so far backward tho? Seems pretty awkward.

Mr. Frøbel

Congrats Ian, that rifle is gorgeous.

Anonymous

So what was the other gun? Also, could you turn the volume up on these videos?

Anonymous

I figured that's what it was going to be when you didn't mention it in your Q&A video as missing from your collection. That beauty could not have found a better home! Congrats!

Bruce Brodnax

'Cause he's just using a vid-cam setup instead of his usual full kit. It's the difference between an actual film production & home movies: both have their respective merits.

Bruce Brodnax

Ian has plenty of other guns to shoot, and this is one he primarily got for his collection, so I get his choice. OTOH, I'm in your camp in the "if it were mine" case, since I'm too poor to buy guns just to hang on a wall... ;-)

Bruce Brodnax

Seconded. Potential test case: how to get some of the cheap guns out of far off Canuckistan...

Bruce Brodnax

Snipers may be on high points with a need to significantly depress the muzzle, plus putting the support closer to the balance point makes the gun quicker handling on moving targets.

Bruce Brodnax

Congratulations Ian! Does this development forebode a return to the previously-shelved "Long Distance Shooting" series, if only for one more episode? ;-D

Anonymous

Outstanding. Congratulations, Ian.

Anonymous

Yay, Ian!!!

CavScout

Shit! Why do you get to have such a good Christmas?? Well, maybeee HMG will ship the STG's and I will too. Seriously, sounds like a good rifle and a very, very neat part of the collection.

Anonymous

I assume you have a C&R.

Anonymous

Unboxing a firearm that you have been waiting to have shipped to you may be one of the most fulfilling experiences that there is. You're making me look even more forward to my Japanese Type 35 that I've got coming in. Congrats on that extremely rare find, Ian. I am curious as to what you had to do to get it out of France and into the US. Did you have to go through the nightmare of getting a French gun license to buy it before you could have it imported or are there exceptions in French/EU law for the Import/Export business?

Anonymous

based on what he said, I dunno if that many even exist.

Anonymous

Very nice!!! I heard that was actually the first rifle especially made only for sniping is that true? Will you test that "thermal shield" if I remember in your video on the MAS with that French guy, he was talking about some kind of "invisibility of the heat of the canon"...

Anonymous

I think I know what Ian took with him to sleep that night, just like A kid does with his favorite stuffed animal!

Anonymous

And the other box?

Anonymous

Ah, as soon as I saw it was relatively new, I figured it had to be a marksman rifle! I don't think it's possible to import machine guns or such, (I'm sure museums and certain arms trades can do it but the result would of course need a Class III license which basically means you're in the arms trade, last I knew you had to do something like $10,000/year in business to qualify for such a license...) at least in such a way that renders it transferable. But the marksman rifle is as "cool" as the machine gun, hell, the Soviets even used it to do the job of one, in the "tie up an area and make no-one want to go into it" sort of role.

I love how the dog is just like the two rescue dogs we've got here, "Oh, what is this, it must be for the dog, yes?"
