Peter Jackson's WW1 documentary "They Shall Not Grow Old" will be showing for just a couple limited occasions here in Tucson, and I am going to go see it on December 27th, at 4pm, at the AMC Foothills 15 theater here in Tucson. If you would like to come join me, it would be great! We will be getting dinner in the area afterwards, although I don't know exactly where yet.

Ooooh, how I WISH I was still stationed in Arizona! I would so make the long drive for this!

Donald Davis

Try putting your email into the search page for the movie. I'm going to see it on the 17th here in NC.

Ian: Have you read "Son of Freedom" (Jeffrey Wawro)? Fascinating study of the role of the AEF in WW1.

Amazing film loved seeing everything in colour adds so much life and death to the footage

I would come, but the internet says that's a 15hr 33min drive and that would be past my bedtime.

I've seen it just a few weeks ago and all I can say is: WATCH IT! It's bloody brilliant.

I’m definitely going to try and make it

I managed to see this at a cinema over here in the UK and it was extremely well done and should be required viewing I think. Would love to see it again with you guys but theres the little thing of the Atlantic in the way ;)

Sadly I/we must RSVP in the negative, but perhaps Robert can appear for us.

Why didn't the british use the Pattern 14 Enfield more in WW2? I have seen a few pictures of soldiers from north africa using them but not much else. Use by the Home Guard but why not the regular army? In my opinion its better then the Lee-Enfield No.1 and I believe you'd agree.

It is so worth seeing. They did such a great job with it

If you ever come to Australia, you should do a meet up at Australian War Memorial here in Canberra. We would love to have you👍

Saw it on Remembrance Day / Armistice Day. Well worth your time.

Brian Reddeman

I'm going to be in the area visiting a friend so yeah... Count me in. Also... 1 million subs on YouTube. Dang things kinda went exponential for you. :)

I'm in! I'll be on the west coast for the holidays so it's a mere 6 hour drive. Hmm, I might check out the Pima Air & Space Museum the next day.

Anonymous

Definitely. My brother was there recently and said both were awesome.

It's brilliant, I watched on the first "live" cinema streaming, bought the bluray and am it the moment ripping it to my oculus go.

Had a thought when rewatching it today - some of the accents are quite strong so if you not used to hearing elderly British people speak you might want to watch a few YouTube videos of them talking first!

Charles P

Saw it yesterday evening. This probably goes without saying, but DO stick around after the credits for the making-of info given by Peter Jackson, it’s worth it.

I bought the last non-wheelchair seat for the 4pm at foothills.. I’m looking forward to it. Thank you for the notice and the content you create.

Is the InRange crew going also?

Anonymous

Hey all I have two "really nice" seats (D13 & D14). Something has come up and cannot make it, sooooo happy to email these to somebody. Who could use a little holiday cheer?

Thank You Ian, This film would have been lost to me if it was not for you. Mr. Jackson did a great job picking what to show out of the 100+ hours of archived films from 1914-1918 and matching it with the oral archived interviews from WW1 vets - This should be a film shown in every history class in America.
