Apocrypha - Another Successful Disassembly

How often are there unsuccessful disassemblies

Anonymous

The mark of a great engineer is to reassemble something with parts left out and still have it work perfectly. Good luck!

ForgottenWeapons

Never had a catastrophic one, but sometimes they end early when I decide I'm not willing to risk something.

Having seen so many guns of all different ages, do you have an opinion of the best product to protect them. Currently, I am trying Ballistol, in part because they say it is good for the wood as well as the metal.

What is the benchmark for a tricky gun to take apart? The "snabb"?

ForgottenWeapons

Yeah, the Snabb is about as bad as it gets. There was a Canadian semiauto conversion of a No4 Lee that I wasn't able to get all the way apart. I once took apart a Bang rifle (not on video) and it was pretty rough too...

...and the mark of a GENIUS engineer is to *design* something that's missing a few parts yet still works perfectly!

Makes me think of a question I had in mind for Q&A: do you have special insurance if you break something very rare and expensive or hurt yourself?

Now for the hard part. Putting it back together.
