Looking forward to the new vids! Did you manage to get any outside footage? Touristy stuff in the Alps maybe? Would love to see a "Rick Steves with firearms" type of thing.

Good that you went to Kessler, they are really nice people :)

So many countries to visit, so many people to meet, so little time, huh, Ian?

Ian, if you come back, I strongly recommend to meet Balázs Németh from capandball (www.capandball.eu) in Hungary (very nice guy!). The weapons museum in Suhl (www.waffenmuseumsuhl.de) might also be very interesting for your research. There are probably a lot of people from different countries a little sad that you couldn't visit their country - including me: -), but we are realistic enough to realize that this is not possible for everyone and everywhere. It was nice that you were here "with us in Europe" and we are happy when you come back! Kind regards (also from) Berlin, Germany :-)

So many places to visit, so little time. :) I'm involved in the Oscar II Fort in Sweden that's open a few times each year, with the 6th of June is a standing day each year when we fire our 15.2cm guns.

David Morris

I agree. I am a fan of Capandball. That would be an interesting collaboration.

safe travels

Chris M

Safe travels. Looking forward to the videos, and especially the Bloke collab of course.

Great, yet it does sound exhausting! Have you heard of the military museum in Koblenz? The small arms part looked huge to me! Thanks for the video, looking forward to the new content!

Raul Ramos

I went there because of the armoured vehicles, as I worked on armoured vehicle development but the arms section is impressive. You may have a look at www.vffwts.de Though I have no contact there, if interested and I can help, let me know ☺️

Collab with “Bloke On The Range” incoming?

Awww, too late I found your patreon page. I might not have the most impressive colletion in Switzerland to show you, but I got good connections to people who have, and a location where to shoot it... Hope to meet you one day!

I know this is not the place to submit questions to Ian's Q&A pool, but I'm ignorant of the proper procedure. Anyway, I was watching a Forgotten Weapons vid from 2 years back about the AR-10 used by the Dutch and Portugese armed forces and was struck by some of the extreme slo-mo clips of that rifle in use, especially the action of the reciprocating charger which comes uncomfortably close to the shooter's face. In fact, there was one sequence which showed the tail actually touching the shooter's cheek! Not good, This brought up a question which I thought perfect for Ian's channel: Apart from being simpler to design or cheaper to implement, are there any positive benefits to a reciprocating charging handle. Or to put it another way, are there downsides to a non-reciprocating charger?

ForgottenWeapons

The charging handle on the original AR10 is not reciprocating. There is a detent that holds it in the forward position, and on the rifle I was shooting in that video the detent spring was worn out. So the handle bounced back from recoil - nothing more than that.

Anonymous

Thanks for the clarification. Would you consider discussing the pros and cons of reciprocating chargers in an upcoming Q&A?

Hey Ian, I missed you this time but next time you travel to Sweden, let me know, I have a little gift for you that might be interesting, I just need to visit the police to check up some things. Keep up the amazing work and thank you!!
