I don't think this has the VinlandSaga tag on it, haven't watch the ep yet, just noticed

At around 11:40 he's arguing that Canute should have thought about not invading the farm if he wanted Thorgil to serve him. That doesn't make sense. Canute has never seen up until now how skilled Thorgil was. And this was Thorgil's greatest feat too, the fact that he would come up wtih something so daring and almost succeeded. When he was planning this invasion in the first place, he didn't have the knowledge that Thorgil was this skilled. So it's not possible to have that influence his opinion. Also from Canute's perspective, the farm is worth way more than Thorgil because the farm actually provides resources to help fund his war activities. Thorgil didn't fail to kill him because he took his time. This is an anime. They storyboard these sequences with dialogues between characters because that is how stories are narrated in this medium. When these conversations are occurring, the actual action is taking place in a matter of seconds. Thorgil from the get go(from the dialogue he tells us himself) he wanted to mess around but couldn't afford to. He failed to kill Canute because Canute actually showed that he has become skilled with the sword. That was the whole point. Canute is honestly a very competent king.
