I remember that nasty grin of Ruby's when her son talked about having his room taken away. It's like the middle school mean girl grew up to have kids but never became a better person.

Absolutely 💯- not only do the politicians exacerbate the divide, but also the fundraising committees have consultants reinforce it- if literally seen it first hand in a Dem MTG with DNC consultants- literally telling the existing politicians that they need to be more extreme and not agree with Rs, even if they do agree! Now this is both sides, neither is good. Nevertheless, the implicit message to the politicians is "be extreme,..or you won't get money or support when you're up for election/re-election"
