Tweets by Jordan Peterson that I'm surprised wasn't included in this licensing board decision (cw, misogyny and other bigotry) "# 2 of questions to get crucified for asking: Do feminists avoid criticizing Islam because they unconsciously long for masculine dominance?" Stated that he would not support gay marraige as its supported by "cultural marxists" and part of an "assault on traditional modes of living" -- please note cultural marxism has been a dog-whistle for Jewish people on the internet. Stated that women who wear makeup at work and don't want to be sexually harassed are hypocritical. He also has repeatedly denied the existence of man-made climate change, saying "there's no such thing as climate."

One thing I was wondering while listening to this episode is ... Is Canada different from the USA in that a person needing a therapist gets assigned one by the National Healthcare service and it would be difficult or not common to get assigned a different Healthcare provider without having X number of appointments with him first? That might make more sense to me as to why the College felt it had to do this to Jordan Peterson. So if a patient was assigned to Jordan Peterson they would be stuck & harmed by his care or have to stop getting care to not be harmed by him,... which delays care & is also harmful. And by not going to their assigned therapist, they are not allowed to switch to a new one or it becomes a very difficult process of appeal? I hear in the USA, if you don't like your therapist/doctor or just want another opinion, or even just feel they are not taking your health concerns seriously, you can just call & make an appointment with a different Healthcare provider. And either your health insurance helps pay as in-network or might not pay towards it at all, the patient pays, but you can still go to the new Healthcare provider.

Yes, the US healthcare system (technically) runs independently from the government, aside from Medicaid/Medicare. Canada and the UK have a socialized/universal healthcare system, and one of the main criticisms of this approach speaks exactly your point. There’s corruption in just about any bureaucratic system, so the US healthcare industry undoubtedly has its flaws, but we have significantly more autonomy in determining prospective treatment options because we don’t have to seek government authorization. If your health insurance plan does not cover the treatment you wish to receive, you’re not prevented from still doing so, it just becomes your personal cost out of pocket. So on the one hand, this is how people can become bogged down with medical debts, but you’d be hard pressed to find many people that wouldn’t do what it took to save their life or the life of a loved one; the choices for methodology outside of standard medicine, or even those still in clinical trials that are approved for final stages of human testing, has often been the difference of life and death. Regarding the concern for JP’s prospective clients- 1)he doesn’t do private practice anymore so he doesn’t see patients 2)it’s important to highlight that none of the complaints against him actually ever even came from those he had worked with, at any point previously in his career. He has done no harm towards any patient who sought his care, and these complaints mostly came from people that had no affiliation with him or his patients, and majority also came from people outside of Canada. Dr. Peterson has been internationally regarded as one of the most influential intellectual figures of this era. He may be passionate in his opinions of controversial subjects, but his dedication to ethical standards and principles is evidenced by his countless nuanced, in depth conversations with the widest spectrum of ideologues.
