I remember listening to your previous episode on hoarding disorder and wondered if you had considered doing more episodes on the subject. I’m pretty sure I have it to some extent, I certainly save a lot of things and get very attached to items, my house doesn’t look anything like the ones on the shows you see, they are quite extreme, but I do have a lot of stuff. I like to try and keep things fairly clean and somewhat organised, I have a lot of boxes with things in. I have always wondered about the effects those shows have had on the hoarders, I certainly would not be able to cope if lots of strangers came into my house and started going through everything I own and taking it outside, the risk that they might throw things away that I want to keep would give me such anxiety. They seem to do the process so fast, I know often there are health and safety risks so there’s not much option really as the people who get involved can’t just leave these people living in those conditions. I think seeing these various shows over the years have helped me a bit, as I know I would never want to get to that level and often after watching I will sort through a few things and be able to get rid of some things. Anyway I know you already have sooo many topics on your list but I would love to hear more thoughts on the psychological aspects, they do often mention in the shows some major trauma that the person has gone through during their life, but from the comments I’ve seen I still don’t think that a lot of the general public watching really understands how hoarding can get this bad and how people can end up living in such awful conditions. Looking forward to the anniversary episodes 😊

I'm super late to the conversation on this and have been behind on a lot of the other videos too. Life has just been really hectic to keep up with social media and Youtube. Anyway.... Thanks for covering this family and all the additional issues that stem from them and their beliefs. As an "ex-vangelical", the documentary hits hard. It's nice to hear an analysis from a professional perspective. It's also validating just to see some of the truths come out. The disgusting part is how this only scratches the surface of how Christianity is weaponized. These evangelical groups claim that queer/gay people are pedophiles and abuses children when in reality, THEY are the ones doing this. Anonymous patron is right, the trauma runs DEEP. -Jules
