It surely can be a toxic community... A lot of people can't resist attacking anyone for anything it seems. But it has become the easiest way to contact my family members overseas and vice versa. My husband's mother, his other relatives in Italy and Romania, and my relatives in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey check our pages everyday to see if we post something about the kids. And some even want to see pictures of the cats. That one is kind of funny. I actually do not use any other social media though. I watch YouTube I guess. And I did create an Instagram to put some art on, but I rarely log into that one. I despise TikTok and Snapchat. I got a Snapchat because my daughter wanted Snapchat when she was in High School. Now that she is an adult I never even open it up anymore. I never got into Twitter either. I suspect that Facebook may still be the most popular one for varied generations. I had MySpace a looong time ago. :-D And I almost forgot. ICQ and mIRC. Who remembers those? Those were my first social medias ever I think. And I was 23ish. That was the age I first owned a computer.

What has come out through whistleblower claims and lawsuits after you recorded this is that Facebook employees and executives knew for years that the algorithm stoked ethnic tensions to the point of ethnic cleansing/genocide in Myanmar, India, and Ethiopia. They have way fewer moderators in these countries per user than in the U.S. or Germany, and at the same time in many of these places Facebook is even more important, because it's the only internet people have. (Facebook has agreements with carriers to have it's website discounted or free while other websites the user needs a data plan).
