Love this. Age-appropriate chores necessitate cognitive skills, including motor skills, focus, information intake, and memory. It makes sense that children who engage in these chores/tasks regularly are likely to develop skills associated with executive functioning and memory faster than those who do not.

I'd like to think that children who have chores are more mature and contain a better memory as I was a child that pretty much had to do everything myself by the time I was 9 years old except on the occasions my mom decided to cook dinner. However, I was very sheltered as a child and didn't get much maturity from having to do all those chores. I think parents letting children have some independence along with some responsibilities breeds more mature behaviors and better memory. Balance is key.
