NOTE: This is a masterpost for all previous and future SimMotion updates. I stopped updating SimMotion for a while due to my inability to get animations to look how I wanted, but I've decided to resume work on the project. This note will be removed later.

What is SimMotion?
SimMotion is a set of animation overrides that adds realistic movement to your sims' anatomy (as well as reducing body parts clipping in official animations). Let your sims' penises, testicles and breasts swing free!

Is SimMotion compatible with other animation override mods?
No. Any files that edit the same animation resources will conflict, so you should only use one in your game (unless you have a mod that edits specific animations not included in SimMotion).

There are animations missing from SimMotion!
The game includes thousands of animations, and editing them all by hand to reduce or remove clipping and add realistic movement is time consuming. I absolutely intend to add more animations, giving priority to a) things I want for my own gameplay and b) things my patrons ask for. If there's something specific you'd like to see added to SimMotion, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message letting me know what you want included so I can consider it.

Does SimMotion work for all bodies and other anatomy mods?
Breasts and hard penises will probably work well, but soft penises by other creators are unlikely to work with SimMotion based on how my content is set up.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
SimMotion animations will never be as perfect as I would like them to be. In part, because the game doesn't have soft body physics and collision (like what happens when you press your finger into your arm). In large part, the rigs that have been created for sex mods such as WickedWhims are not set up to accurately mimic all anatomy, such as flaccid penises, so the movement of some parts will never look like they do in real life.

Also, for technical reasons, animations can't entirely account for sim body morphs. My animation overrides are created with medium Simdulgence anatomy and will look best on sims with average weight and muscle. Sims with larger anatomical parts or at different weight/muscle values may not look as good. There isn't much I can do about this, sorry!

INSTALLATION NOTES:
All animation overrides are contained within one file. If you want to remove SimMotion, you can safely delete it from your /Mods folder at any time.

2024-10-27:
Added breast and penis movement overrides to animations on the beach towel (sunbathing, relaxing, napping, etc).
2024-10-18:
Added breast movement to the "pee walk" animation. Added penis and breast movement overrides for relaxing on the bed animations.
2024-09-13:
Updated showering animations to add breast movement and improve penis movement. While adding breast movement to these animations, I discovered a few different techniques I could use to create my overrides with more bounce, so I re-did the penis/testicle movement for the showering animations. I plan to use these techniques on new animation overrides going forward, as well as improving my existing overrides as part of future updates.
I've added a gif showing a brief comparison between my original override (on the left) and the override created with the new techniques (on the right).
2024-07-29:
Fixed an error causing jogging breast animations not to show up correctly in game.
2024-07-27:
Updated jogging animations to include breast movement. Note: clothing tops can deform with breast movement, so I recommend using my BetterBoobs add-on with SimMotion. BetterBoobs is available from the Clothing Collection page.
2024-06-25:
Created the masterpost. Added overrides for double/single bed napping interactions (as seen in the post header image).
2021-05-21:
Added overrides for female walkstyles.
2021-05-14: Added overrides for multiple sitting idles, seated "listen" animations, "watch tv" animations and basic seated postures.

Awesome! Thank you. If Sim Motion is still being maintained, would you please add breast motion to the animations you’ve already finished, please? That way I can have your files override tonicsim’s files and I won’t lose bouncy boobs by installing it.

same question re: separating out the animation so i can keep khlas's pee animation replacer - this one is more niche so i'm assuming this wouldn't be a priority. just thought i'd ask :)

Hey! Yes, I'll be adding breast movement to the ones that are already included. Some of the animations in the file do have that, including the new napping ones I released yesterday (though you can't tell from the photo I used). But yeah, any without breasts will be edited to include those.

Unfortunately the game doesn't work that way. If my mod and another mod both edit an animation - let's say "napping_x" - the game can't combine the edits from both mods, it will only be able to use one. If I took out breast animations and you used SimMotion with the bouncing boob mod, you wouldn't get penis movement from my mod and breast movement from the other. You would only see the animation edit from one of the mods. I believe that you can use both mods and any animations that only appear in one of the mods will still be recognized by the game. It'll only conflict when the animations are the exact same resource, and for those, the game will use whichever it "loads" first (on a Windows PC the load order is alpha, A to Z). If you want to keep a pee animation you can name that mod to come before mine alphabetically and the game should load that resource first, then any others from either SimMotion or the boob mod. I don't have any other creators' animation overrides to confirm this myself, but I believe it should work based on other content I've created and my understanding of TS4 file structure. Sorry if it doesn't actually work that way!

Nope, you can remove that file - all of the animations are now in one package. Sorry for not making it clearer in the post!

I know of the running animation that sims do when they're scared of a thunderstorm - if you're thinking of another situation, let me know so I know what to look for in the game files :)

You can have both of them in your game, yes - but some of the WW default body parts aren't going to be weighted the way I've weighted mine so they won't move with the animations. For example, WW breasts should work with any of my animation overrides, but their soft penises probably aren't set up the same way and won't move with SimMotion (hard ones should though).

I'm not seeing any breast motion when my sims are jogging across the lot for some reason. The penis motion works well.

Will this conflict with other mods that give breasts movement? I’m using jiggle physics rn and I love it

If you mean tonicsim's bouncing boobs then it does conflict, yes. I use both and I have simdulgence's override tonicsim's; the only catch is not all of Simdulgence's animations include breast physics, so there'll be less jiggling for some core animations (like climbing stairs, the 'I have to pee' walk...).

It will conflict with mods that edit and override animations. I believe there's a mod out there that adds physics in a different way, which might be compatible with my mod, but I don't know which one you're using specifically. With that said, I am working to add breast movement to all of my existing overrides and they will be added to overrides that I make in the future.

Thank you kindly for the update! I love the flopping to the sides on the relaxing in bed animation. Do you have any thoughts about the yoga animations and stair animations? Seeing the well done flopping makes me excited to see yoga get the same treatment. And stairs can cause a lot of jiggling. :D

Sorry, I didn't see a notification about this message! I'm glad you like the relaxing animations. Yoga animations are something I can see potential for, for sure. Stairs are done for penises (although I might improve them, I don't know) but still need to be done for breasts. I'll try to add the stairs to the next update (after today's) that I do!

Is Simmotion compatible with any mod that disables the celebrity walkstyle? If not, would it be possible to have a toggle/version of Simmotion which disables the celebrity walkstyle please?

Hey! SimMotion should be compatible with a mod like that, to my knowledge, but it does depend on how the mod works. SimMotion is editing actual animation files from the game, so if a mod disables a celebrity walkstyle via tuning/scripting methods, it should still be compatible. If the mod edits the celebrity walkstyle animation and replaces it with a default animation (I'd be surprised if it did this way, to be honest), then you might eventually end up with a conflict when I add an override of the celeb walk to SimMotion. If you want me to look at a specific mod you're using and tell you if it should work or not, I can, but in general I expect SimMotion to work with most mods that disable walkstyles.
