oh! It’s artblock

ive been beating my head on the wall trying to figure out why I haven’t been finishing things as fast as usual, struggling with sketching comms for people, getting ideas right the first time, wondering why this last episode of lucky! had me feeling sooooooo gd burnt out all of a sudden.

it’s art block. My old friend. It’s gotta be. And I KNOW that’s what it is ecause even sketching this dagger for a free space, to get my muscles going, it took me two hours, TWO HOURS, to get the pose and face the way I was imagining. Ah. No good.

a part of it is that I’ve been feeling like some of my work looks really static and boring when it’s finished and while I don’t think my art needs a whole lot to be really dynamic and interesting, if I don’t have the shapes, silhouette, movement in the piece at the sketch stage, the lines and colors aren’t going to save it much. And I also have a bad habit or wanting to quit ideas if I don’t get them right the first time.

so, if I’ve sketched you something in the past month or so and I either A. Needed to redo it because it wasnt right or B. Haven’t completed it yet if you were content with the sketch, it’s mostly because I’m in that weird in between of knowing what I want my art to look like and struggling to figure out what I need to do to get it there. I know y’all are happy with what I’m capable of now and you’d rather see finished art of your ocs than nothing, so as long as I have okays from people Im doing comms for, I’ll try to finish the green lit completed sketches without messing with them too much. and if we’re reworking an idea I already sent you, thanks for being patient with me. It doesn’t happen often. In fact, it’s RARE, but when I come out on the other side, it feels like a huge jump in quality, so. Fingers crossed>>

im not gonna say it’s my luck that I got Art block right as Elias started school, because I don’t believe I attract bad luck anymore, but it’s definitely funny how things work out like that.

in the meantime. Let’s finish this dagger And ink a daily today. Finish those hot goth adopts Tomorrow. And see what we’re capable of accomplishing on Friday. Some days Im killing it with minimal ideas. Some days I’m abundant in ideas but my hand can’t keep up the pace. Thanks for hanging out anyway lmao
