If it’s not obvious, Ozymandias is one of my favorite pieces of literary works of all time. I can’t explain why. Maybe it’s the idea of creating a monumental legacy of power that’s worn into nothingness and obscurity by time and nature itself. Maybe it’s been weighing on me lately because - though it can’t be compared to having am actual freaking empire - trying to create a legacy online through art and stories via social media, only to know that someday, it’ll be forgotten and lost to time, feels pretty close to home. And that’s freeing in its own right. My first tattoo will have the quote “Nothing beside remains”. Because nothing is permanent. in the end, all of the hours and dedication to the craft and the ‘legacy‘ wont mean much after we’re gone. To me, there’s some peace in that specific brand of nihilism. im here to create because I love it and it brings me happiness right NOW. It doesn’t need to be profound or meaningful, or even be good. Because I’m not creating to leave a legacy or a mark on the world. I’m just here to draw tits and eat hot chip.
