FIRST off, I know full and well that no one wants to see my new ship bullshit here, BUT I've been hoarding this WIP for nearly a month, and I want to share it with my ride or dies(aka you guys LOL)

I joined this collab a WHILE ago, and I never actually thought I'd be accepted cause?? There are SO many talented Kylux artists on Tumblr(many of which are working on this project as well!) and when I had entered, the only real work I had in my art tag was a bunch of self shipping, self insert bullshit. I'm surprised they took me in! Lol.

AND it gets better(worse?). They let us fill out forms to choose which cards we preferred to work with, and in the order of our most preferred to least preferred. I put "The Lovers" as my most preferred, fully expecting not to get it(cause, AGAIN, many talented artists!! And the main theme of the deck is this ship, so I assumed everyone would put The Lovers as their first choice. Lol.) I mean, hell, I was even mentally preparing a composition for my second choice, that's how much I expected to NOT get my first choice.

But lo and behold, guess who got The Lovers? I fucking did. Which is great!! But here's where it gets "worse". I've never drawn this ship. Like. In anything less than a "funny/they hate each other" kind of scenario. So I panicked?? How do I draw one of my OTP's when I've never done it before?? I feel like ship art needs some trial and error before you can really get into it, and I had zero practice with Kylux ship art.

So. That's why this looks so stiff and weird. HA. I focused more on the faces and hands(the faces still need work, this is just a rough with color slapped on for thumbnail purposes), and the body language feels really stiff and awkward. The background is very plain as well. I imagined them being surrounded by fire and smoke but the pose isn't what I was going for.

I plan on rendering this one out, since it's already 70% done, and trying to work on a new one, BUT the deadline is the 24th and I'm already super behind on other things. That, or I'll try to adjust this one so the pose is more fluid, and believable, not so forced.

Anyway, yeah, I didn't mean to write so much, but I think I'll enjoy using Patreon as a place to talk about my pieces and what really went into them, since Tumblr doesn't feel like the best place to put really lengthy captions(since people delete them anyway AHH).

(The more I look at this, the more I want to fix it, but yeah, this is really, REALLY rough. It definitely looks funny. LOL)
