Layne + Work-from-Home Rambling (Patreon)

Well, I’m back home and its Starting to look like Ant might be out of work for the rest of the semester.  Idk what that means for his checks, or if they’ll let teachers try to do lessons online or what. AND he was supposed to teach summer school this summer so we wouldn’t get behind on bills, but that’s up in the air too now. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, tbh (sarcasm) What with the Webtoon contest going on between now and June 30th. BIG SIGHS. I know most people would be overjoyed with having the other parent be home to help with the baby while we need to work, but that is rarely the case with having Ant at home. Not that he doesn’t try, or I can’t ask him to babysit, it’s just... harder to adhere to a strict schedule when he’s at home. And its always the same conversation.
The thing is: Until he’s told that they’re going to start doing online work, this is a vacation to him. And he treats it like such. But home is where I WORK. So, it’s difficult for me to start my 5am shifts when he wants to stay up til 12 playing video games in our room, or bingeing Netflix shows. Not that I’m complaining, but... you see where it’s throwing me off? I’ve got a very intricate system to maintain my strict work routine during the day, and the smallest thing will throw it off entirely. This morning, I forgot to put my deodorant on AFTER I changed into my work clothes, and it threw off my entire pre-work routine. I then forgot my face wash in the wrong bathroom, forgot to start the coffee before I started prepping breakfast, etc etc etc. i Gotta cook several times a day, clean throughout the day, and chase the baby around while trying to keep my shifts uninterrupted... And he tries, but i think sometimes having him here interferes with my system more than he really helps it. 😬 Anyway. We’re gonna have to try to find some compromises to sorting all this out if he wants to veg all day while I’m working and keeping busy.

in a funny turn of events, I have the perfect opportunity to get up at 5am, get pretty, pack my stuff, and say “I’m going to work” and just spend all three of my daily shifts at a cafe, while Ant lives the “stay at home dad” life for the first time ever, ONLY NOW, ITS THE WORST TIME TO GO OUT AND DO IT LMAO
