welcome back to another sketchdump~ how've you been doing? I hope you've been alright! <3 before I move on I want to share some pics of my new family member >:3c

introducing kuma at 5 and 1/2 months! she's an absolute sweetheart, loves to cuddle, and is super athletic! she can be very naughty as demonstrated by knocking over glasses of water D: 

but she's so cute I can't stay mad at her! she's also a big fan of plushies~

and here's her most of the time when she's not running around at lightning speed lol

ever since moving into the house I've experienced a lot of ups and downs emotionally. I think any life change comes with growing pains and this past week brought a lot of tears as if I was mourning the place I lived before and the person I came to be there. I started my entire art career in Santa Barbara. before moving there the possibility of doing art for a living never occurred to me. it's only through the people I met there, my wonderful friends and boyfriend, that I was able to take myself seriously and be here talking with you all today. SB will always have a deeply special place in my heart and even though I cried a lot, I recognize that they were not tears of sadness. and at the same time I realized that moving to a house didn't magically make my life perfect. I understand intellectually that life will always be 50% positive 50% negative no matter where we are, but learning that lesson once again after accomplishing something that in my mind felt so daunting and massive was quite a humbling moment. I wanted to share a quote from the Book of Awakening that really stood out to me and brought me solace when my heart felt torn between two places: 

"our image of a destination is only a starting point that we cling to needlessly. when we can free up our sense of needing to arrive in a certain place, we lessen the weight of being lost."

if you're experiencing growing pains right now just know that it's totally OK to feel uncertain or unsure about making a decision. remember that you're doing your best and that one moment isn't any better than the next. whatever decision you end up going with is meant to be the right one because no matter what happens you'll get through it. <3

a blue sketch from when I was feeling lost and homesick and listening to beabadoobee. gosh their music really gets ya in the feels. good music to cry to ahaha

City Girl! she's using a tape machine here, a super cool device that I was first introduced to just a few days ago. it's so cool to see all the different ways people can make music. tape machines aren't as widespread anymore since the effects can be recreated digitally, but doing it the analog way produces this beautiful warm and slightly static-y sound. 

Zendaya's adorable blue getup at the Tiffany Party! the dress is such an interesting and flattering shape~ 

forever drawing from photo reference for warm ups and practice. gotta keep those drawing hands limber! :D
