Hello there! ~(=^‥^)/

Hope you're all having a lovely autumn so far~ ^-^ I've been celebrating by baking lots of yummy treats, lighting candles, and participating in Inktober (you can see my posts every day on Twitter @vickisigh!). To further embrace the new season I wanted to bring October's postcard into the mix. I saw a picture of raspberry plants and fell in love with their warm and rich colors. The reds, oranges, and yellows contrasted against the bright greens reminded me perfectly of autumn and served as the main inspiration for this piece. ^-^

Here are a couple of close-ups. This piece has more detail than I'm used to drawing, but it was fun to work on!

 I was originally going to do something Halloween-themed, but decided it'd be kinda weird to send out a Halloween drawing in mid-November haha. Regardless, I'm very happy with the outcome and I hope you'll like it as well! If you'd like a Patreon-exclusive postcard print of this piece, make sure to change your pledge to $10 before the end of October! <3

Try saying "Patreon-exclusive postcard print of this piece" 5 times fast, how about that for a tongue twister.

Time for some bonus content! Here's a process gif of this piece! It started out so messy but with time and patience it really came together. :D

Also I've had a couple patrons recently ask me about the brushes I use in Paint Tool SAI so here they are! I really only ever use these three (I'm a simple gal what can I say) and I'm pretty sure one of them is a default brush in SAI. ^^;; It's nothing fancy, but try them out and see if you like them!

Inking brush (Pen tool): your typical hard round brush with pen pressure. This is what I use to do my lineart digitally!

Sketching brush (Marker tool): I still haven't found a good sketching brush unfortunately. This one is good, but it's not ideal personally. I'm still on the market for a pencil sketch brush that doesn't feel too grainy or coarse. This one will do in the meantime. I also sometimes use this to add in soft details.

Blending brush (Brush tool): This is what I use to blend my colors! It has quite a bit of texture to it, which I like. I tend to use it heavy-handedly to bring out some harshness in my otherwise flowy and soft work. ^^;;

Thank you so much for your support and I hope you have a wonderful day! Stay cozy this season, lotsa love~

hey vicki, where did you get the texture you use on your blending brush? my SAI doesn't seem to have any brush textures installed!

vickisigh

Hi Shannon! Any texture I use came pre-installed with my version of SAI. Not to worry, if your version doesn't have any there are plenty of textures available on the internet for you to download and play around with! ^^ Search around on google and find something that works for you~
