I've been very inspired by jewelry and trinkets lately and thought it'd be fun to draw pieces centered around those themes. I wanted to make art that felt moody and reflective since April was a particularly hectic month in my life. experiencing a great deal of rapid change during that period meant I spent a lot of time in bizarre, hazy headspaces that implored the upheaval of old, stagnant beliefs to make way for the new. change doesn't wait for a convenient time to occur nor can we ever fully prepare ourselves for it. I'm learning to lean into it as it comes and accept that it's a natural part of life and something that's always taking place even if we can't consciously perceive it.

above: I wanted to create a character that I could completely deck out and adorn in cool jewelry and accessories. I've felt drawn to oysters lately and their beautiful shape, colors, and physical capabilities. I leaned into the earthy color palette to create something that feels dark, mysterious, and ultimately hopeful.

and this month's sticker! well, sticker sheet. I've always wanted to make a sticker sheet for my patrons, so I finally went for it! I think the trinket theme suits the format well, allowing me to make a handful of small simple drawings that would feel right at home strung onto a necklace or charm bracelet. I wanted these pieces to reflect my experiences with dream-states and their often ambiguous nature.
