UPDATE: March mail rewards will not ship until end of April/early May. I will be out of the country for the first half of April and unable to fulfill physical rewards during that time. Digital rewards will be scheduled and posted like normal.

hello!  (βŒ’β–½βŒ’)β˜†

happy april everyone! this month I wanted to explore ways in which technology has influenced my aesthetic tastes as an artist. I'm a '90s baby, so the chunky desktop computers that were characteristic of the '90s and early 2000s were a big part of my experience with technology growing up. I have a lot of fondness for the designs of that period as well as the mecha-influenced characters that were popular in the manga and games I consumed as a kid. these pieces are a loving tribute to those moments in time and the ways in which they continue to inspire my artistic creations.

above: I have so many fun childhood memories associated with a desktop computer. it was a way for me to play games with friends, watch anime+read manga, find new music, and discover interests that I otherwise would've never come across. the internet was an entire new world filled with fascinating creations and I'll always be grateful for the myriad of subjects it introduced me to. I featured one of my favorite OCs, City Girl, in both pieces, because I think her associations with technology and memory are well-suited to the themes I want to convey. I included nostalgic artifacts that meant a lot to me growing up and even now still to create a comfortable space that felt plucked out of one of my many memories spent huddled in front of the computer, a portal to a parallel world filled with exciting treasures and discoveries.

and this month's sticker! the idea of making something Tetsuya Nomura-adjacent really got into my head and would not budge, so I set about translating his style into my own. I was fascinated with the impression of a heavy lineart style, borderline vector, that emphasized shape and shadow. I had a lot of fun coming up with character design elements that captured my interests in mecha and chunky technological accessories.

My girl looks like she's creating her Gaia Online profile. And you describing those 2000s frutiger metro vibes is sending me on a nostalgia trip. <3
