Do you think Dracula (as well as vampires in general) would have as much staying power in pop culture if the original 1931 movie starring Bela Lugosi didn’t exist?

Do you prefer vampires that turn others simply by biting them like zombies or vampires that must perform a more involved ritual to turn another, a la Anne Rice? Is the monolith that is Batman, with the bat motif, the major factor in why DC does not have a prominent vampire character like Marvel has Blade and Morbius? Akira is widely considered one of the most iconic films in Japanese anime and had a major impact in pop culture. Where do each of you see effects of what Akira achieved in other mediums beyond anime? Is there a film that compares in impact from West? My first guess would be Toy Story.
