August Blog Post (Patreon)

I’m sure in the past couple months you’ve noticed some changes that have been happening here on Patreon and, by extension, on the Youtube channel. A little later on in this blog update we’re going to get into some details of what that means. 

The doors are closing on our next comic book project - Science! so to speak. Ashley and I are in the final steps of getting the Kickstarter together and getting it approved through our publisher (Eisner-nominated Beside Press). As soon as we have an official launch date to announce you beautiful Patrons will be the first ones to know. Dez Pittman, our series artist, has put the finishing touches on some action-packed panels and we are finalizing some cool graphics for the campaign. Like this:

We also wanted to ask if there were any outlets, podcasts, or Youtube channels that you are fans of and would like to see Ashley and I appear on as we make up our press tour to promote Science!? You are some of the people we trust the most, so we’re grateful for your help.

This week’s Geek History Lesson is the fourth ROBIN lesson we have done since starting the podcast. DAMIAN WAYNE has been a pretty heavily requested episode and I am teaching the lesson. Surprise! We also released next week’s BATWOMAN episode (taught by Ashley), super early as a little thank-you for all of the support that you’ve given us. I’ve mentioned it before, but the strength of this Patreon keeps GHL going when it otherwise would have ended.

The closer we get to the month of September the more you are going to see traditional lesson-based episodes and the return of Ashley’s Nightcrawler voice … because you asked for it!

Our next Movie Commentary will be recorded this weekend and uploaded shortly after that. Jason will be joined by John Rocha to share their thought on Star Trek 4. Get ready for a lot of San Francisco and get ready for a lot of whales! After that we’re planning to do Commentaries on more geek classics: MCU, Star Wars, and a bunch of other fun stuff!

On the Youtube front we are wrapping up the last couple episode our Top 10 Arrow Series starring myself, Ashley, Jay Washington, Sam Bashor and DJ Wooldridge. Once that wraps up we are planning to release a video that goes over some of the changes that are coming to the channel. In the past months we’ve rolled out a diverse array of content without any clear direction and that’s not something that sustains a channel. It’s also not something that works with the new changes to our schedule. JAWIIN is a two-person operation. We’re planning to keep the Geek History Lesson videos releasing a couple weeks after the episodes, DCTV Recap will return when Arrow and Flash are back on the air while only covering those two shows, and we will be rolling out a Question & Answer Mailbag Video. 

You might also have noticed that there have been polls and questions going up here on the Patreon. Your input is helping us to shape the future of the channel.

We are continuing our goal of reaching 75K subscribers As Soon As Possible, so if you are enjoying the new content we’ve been rolling out we would appreciate it if you would share all the JAWIIN goodness with a friend.
