Hey Patrons,

San Diego Comic-Con Month is upon us and I’m sure that everyone here is as excited for the biggest, nerdiest event of the year as we are. This year is the first year in a while that we will only be at the convention for one day. My new job restricts how many days I can take away from the city, but I’m really loving it, so I don’t mind. If you are coming to San Diego Comic-Con here is where you can catch us:

SATURDAY July 21 --

  • Action Lab Entertainment Booth #1735 @ 12pm - 2:30pm
  • Geekscape Booth #3919 @ 3:30pm - 4:30pm

We’ll have copies of Jupiter Jet, Geek History Lesson pins, and a bunch of other goodies with us. Speaking of Jupiter Jet, thanks so much to everyone here who helped us get to 50 REVIEWS ON AMAZON! We have crossed our goal, which puts the book in the best position to be found by other potential readers who are searching for similar products. Your help in getting us to that magical number was monumental and it means so much. By the way, if you haven’t written an Amazon review yet you can do it right here: (https://amzn.to/2HdhgjG)

In many of these updates I’ve been letting you behind the curtain a little bit on our next Kickstarter project - Science! We are getting a bunch of prints in from the artists that we hired (including Brent Schoonover whose work you know from Marvel Comics!), and we’re in the process of reaching out to some amazing creators for Script and Portfolio Reviews. Those were some popular rewards last time and we dig being able to help other new creators as they are coming up!

(some concept art for Brent's print)

This week’s Geek History Lesson is our LIVE episode that was recorded during COMIC CON REVOLUTION in Ontario, California where we discuss THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON IN COMICS with special guest Jonboy Meyers! Jonboy has worked on Teen Titans for DC and Royals for Marvel and he also drew the amazing cover of Jupiter Jet that we put on the trade paperback cover. It was a blast having Jonboy with us.

Right now Ashley and I are in the process of securing some pretty cool guests for our next batch of episodes that will carry us past the hurdle that is San Diego Comic-Con. Look for an update coming soon with announcements about our upcoming topics and guests.

We’re also recording our next Movie Commentary this weekend. This one is just going to be Ashley and I watching the best Batman movie ever made: Mask of the Phantasm. If you are a fan of our previous DC Comics Animated Movies Commentaries get excited for Andrea Beaumont to ruin Bruce Wayne’s life! We had to put the commentary of Star Trek 4 on pause because of John Rocha’s schedule.

On the Youtube side of things, we’ll be coming up on the halfway point of our Top 10 Arrow Series featuring myself, Ashley, Jay Washington, Sam Bashor and Dj Wooldridge. How well these next few go will determine if we launch our Top 10 Flash Episodes series soon after or not. If that is something you’d like to see, then be sure to check out all of the Arrow videos as well. You’ve probably noticed that we’ve been including more discussion-based videos like What Does Superman Mean? and Should Batman & Catwoman be Married? these have been so much fun to roll out. It seems like people are enjoying them. Comic Book Fights just dropped Thor vs Superman and we have a couple more episodes batched and ready to go. As with all things, if there are topics that you might like to see us discuss, please feel free to reach out and make suggestions. We are continuing our goal of reaching 75K subscribers As Soon As Possible, so if you are enjoying the new content we’ve been rolling out we would appreciate it if you would share all the JAWIIN goodness with a friend.

I want to end with an excerpt from my Superman Book that is moving along in interesting ways that I can’t say anything more about at this time. (#SECRETS) This is from legendary comics’ artist and writer DAN JURGENS when I asked him why he loved Superman?

“Dan: I think when we look at Superman properly, he is something - we talked a little bit ago about him being an inspirational character and I think that’s some of it - and I believe that is something we should aspire to be. One of the things that gets rolled around from time to time is Superman being called the “Big Blue Boyscout”, like it’s a slur, and my common answer to that is: “My gosh, if that’s an insult - if that’s a slur - then where are we as a country?” Shouldn’t we, in a way, shouldn’t all of us aspire to be something of a Big Blue Boyscout? I mean, wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all aspired to that and tried to live that way? I think I sometimes jokingly say: “Batman is who we are.” kind of vengeful. I’ll get revenge on that guy and, “Superman is who we should aspired to be.” and, so that’s where I put it and I think we know that as we read these stories. I think we know that as we see the films and I think that that’s what we want him to be because we need to have angels in our midst from time to time and Superman represents something like that.”

Thank you so much for supporting all of these crazy nerdy things that we are getting up to. If you are planning to be at SDCC we would love nothing more than the opportunity to meet you (or see you again!), learn what you like and why you support us, and hopefully be able to tell you some exciting news about what we have coming up.

You continue to be the best and I can’t accurately explain how grateful I am for the love and support that you have shown me and continue to show me.

Thank you

Jason Inman
