March Dormitory Diary Entry - Shimai (Patreon)

Nice to meet you. My name is Kyoko Shimai and I will be an animator starting this April. I am moving to Tokyo from Osaka.

My training program is lasting fairly long, so perhaps I should say that I'll be (sort of) an animator.

I want to work such that I will be able to repay those who support us tenfold through my animation!

Around June of last year, I took my first animation job. I found that animation really requires patience and good senses. I was working with a simple character design composed of just a few lines and performing simple movements, but it still took me 50 times longer than I had thought it would... Anyway, my hands are slow...and I am not good at drawing lines neatly...

When the job was done, I felt really bad for everyone who had to put up with my lack of training!

Once I saw the cut I did colored, voiced, and on tv, I was very touched, but I also felt a sense of guilt knowing how I could have done better. I was extremely happy to see my name in the credits, though. (*^^*)

Since then, I’ve come up with my very first goal. I would first like to get better at drawing quickly and cleanly.

Lastly, forgive me if my writing is poor and hard to read. I greatly look forward to the day that I get to meet my peers. Thank you everyone for being here.

はじめまして。4月からアニメーターになる島井響子(しまいきょうこ)と申します。大阪からの上京になります。

研修が結構長めなのでしばらくはアニメーター(仮)という感じです。

ご支援くださる皆様に倍返し出来るぐらい良い作品を作れるように努めていきたいと思います！

去年の6月頃、初めてアニメのお仕事を請けて、本当に根気とセンスが必要なお仕事だと感じました。線の少ないキャラクターデザインで簡単な動作でしたが想像の50倍は時間がかかってしまいました…。とにかく手が遅い…その上 丁寧に線を引くのも苦手…。関係者の方にも下手で申し訳ない…！と思いながらも初仕事を終えました。

オンエア時に自分が担当したカットに色と声が付いていたのを見て、感動もありましたがもっとこうしたら…という反省の気持ちが大きかったです。クレジットの方は素直にめっちゃ嬉しかったです(*^^*)

それからは、まず｢早く丁寧に描く」が私の中で最初に達成したい目標になりました。

最後に、文章を書くのがとても苦手で読みにくいかもしれませんがご容赦願います。今は同期の方とお会い出来る日が来るのが待ち遠しいです。皆様よろしくお願いします。
