Correct. Her parents are, but she wasn't. She carried the gene for it so when she had children with another person that also had the gene there was a good chance they would be, as we know both Lyn and Jack are.

Not exactly. It's sort of like a recessive gene. If both parents have the trait then most likely their offspring will too. If one of the parents does and the other doesn't then the chances are super slim that the resulting child would be a werewolf.
