Rob was mentioned earlier, he's someone that Makarov knew. He's first shown in a photo of Makarov and some of the other people at the end of episode 8, and Makarov and Yajima (his friend on the council) have a conversation mentioning him at the start of episode 30. Makarov mentioned then that Erza told him where Rob ended up, and Yajima clarifies that he's dead. More injuries that got censored: A lot more blood with all the torture. Simon's jaw was more obviously injured, hence the metal jaw he has now. Rob's corpse didn't disappear (his death actually is one of the few things that looks more gruesome in the anime with the skin cracking and stuff) Jellal stomps the first guards head in. Design changes: The thing Jellal was tied to wasn't a pole. It was more of an archway with the rope at the top, hanging him by his wrists. Zeref looks more ghosty. The masks on all the guard, originally some of them had mouth covering, but their eyes were visible. Manga makes it clearer Jellal intends to kill Sho, by using the work kill. Very useful word, that. Helps to avoid ambiguity.
