PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE Trigger Warning IF THE Trigger Warning of Pregnancy Loss applies to you!

I'm sorry about having not been great about tagging this in some previous posts.

I take these topics seriously, and I apologize for the lack of tagging up until now. My cousin almost lost her life in a situation like this, and her dream of having children is now permanently jeopardized from the health consequences of it, so I have a sense of how this can be terribly difficult for someone to go through and why the trigger warnings can matter. I'll try to do better with putting warnings in the future.

****

Hello everyone,

Sorry for all the posts lately,

Since many of you asked about similar matters:

Just wanted to walk you through the latest feature I made to add to the AddOn 7 (pregnancy Loss) and inquire about your feedback if any. It took me a bit of time to decide exactly what I wanted to do regarding the unborn sim children and how to represent them in the world after a miscarriage. But today I finally found exactly how I wanted to do this and made it. I didn't want to do the exact same thing other mods do, and I wanted it to feel more like gameplay and show more the emotional permanence of a lost pregnancy. So this is my compromise, it's small in the game, and I hope it will give more depth to your sims' experiencing of this tragic event:

- So, the lost pregnancy will result in an urn added to inventory and labeled for an Unborned Child. From the urn, the Sim can name the unborn child, mourn, write an epitaph.

The Sim also initially appears the same way in the family tree (unless you use the extra option to disable family tree integration).

If your Sim decides to name the child, a window to type the name appears:

Once it has been named, the urn and the family tree will both reflect the addition of the name.

Since this involves messing with the family tree, I want it well-tested before giving it to you all (I am not expecting issues since the code for this is very similar to code I have in the adoption module and which has proven to be stable, but I like to be careful). If you want to test it, you can let me know on the Patron's channel on discord and I'm happy to share!

I will strive to make the 'pretty and official' release post for the v2.7 update as soon as possible (because the current post is a bit of a mess) and write the documentation, but in the meantime do feel free to ask any question! The info isn't fully written up out there yet so I'm happy to answer you!

A good day / night,
Lumpinou

I'm sorry if you answered this already. but is there a certain thing your sim has to do so that miscarriage is less likely? I love the realism that miscarriages can happen but i dont want it to happen to every one of my sims. Maybe im thinking of how your sims can react to pregnancy and how you can make your sim either accept or reject the pregnancy and how you gotta do certain things to make them accept it.

lumpinou

I'll add the 'immune to miscarriage' thing tomorrow when I add the rest of the new stuff yes. For now, put 'riskiness of pregnancy' at 1 and it will help or take out the add on :)

Thank you so much for the response, I absolutely love you and your mods so much. Your my #1 modder, I just want you to know how much i appreciate everything that you do for us. And all the hard work you do for this game, modding cant be easy especally with how funky this game is set up.

Love these mods!!! Keep them coming please and thank you!

REALysticMystic

So if you can add "immune to miscarriage" then would you be willing to add options about abortion that interacts with the sims character? Like kind of like the pregnancy wishes, but instead add: pro-life, pro-choice, neutral, pro-life protester, pro-choice protester?

REALysticMystic

Maybe even add a clinic for women only, where you can go with your Sim.

lumpinou

The immune thing is just putting the health riskiness of pregnancy at 0, it's more a cheat than gameplay really haha. What you are talking about is more about abortion, and I don't know how far I want to get political with things tbh. I do have various reactions and judgments in my abortion module, that the s'il can experience, but I don't know really how far into political debates I want to get. I try to avoid that as a rule but I don't know yet if I could include more of that without entering these political realms.

REALysticMystic

I totally understand! It was just an idea for more realistic game play but maybe it's a bit.

hey idk if i skimmed past the answer but is there a timeline on when this module will be released and if a sim has a miscarriage is there higher chance for the next pregnancy?

lumpinou

Miscarriages have been released last Wednesday and the update containing the features shown in this post, I released earlier today. Check the v2. 75 release post listed in the index

lumpinou

And yes there is a higher chance to miscarry after previous miscarriages

Hi Lumpinou. Do the fertility risks also apply to elder sims who can get pregnant or are they automatically infertile because of old age? Also for the future, can birth control have a percentage to not be completely effective since it’s unrealistic to prevent pregnancy every time? Just thought I’d put it on your radar. Thanks.

lumpinou

Birth control and condoms have, since the beginning of the mod, had a 5% failure rate. For the other question, the answer is yes and no. Elders can have the fertility risk. They are just auto assigned very low levels. But for now I have not made them able to get pregnant. Why? Because they can't in game default. This means that I must make it an option and not a default, which in this case means I have to do some extra stuff that I haven't done yet. So, we are halfway there, but not quite

can someone help me... i have donloaded the mods but they are not shwing up in my game

Simslegacy5083

Experienced my first miscarriage with your mod and just wow. I love LMS and had used her mod for years. It did the job but what you have created with this is truly heartbreaking. The care and thought you put into the buffs, its impossible to ignore the pain and sadness. I also love having the urn/tombstone, in this playthrough my legacy cemetery is in the backyard and it was lovely to be able to add this tombstone to the rest. I'm sure it doesn't help that this is a baby in game I personally very much wanted. These gals weren't making it easy, I ultimately had to use a sisters pregnancy to engineer a whole baby fever storyline so I could justify updating preferences on them for an insemination attempt. I mean its a legacy challenge, childless isn't really a viable choice. The baby was a boy which is exactly what I wanted for the next Gen. Now I'm back to the waiting game, giving them time to grieve before trying again and hoping for another blue outcome. Anyway great work, as always - just had to let you know.

lumpinou

Sorry, hadn't seen this message before - if mods aren't showing up, it's an installation problem. Did you ever figure it out?

lumpinou

Thank you so much for your comment. I worked hard on this and tried to give it an emotional weight for our Sims... I am glad that you found it well done, means a lot to me. I hope your Sims will have better luck next time and succeed in continuing their legacy!
