Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 1, episode 4 of Chainsaw Man!  WHOA!!!  First off, Meowy and Power are okay, yayyyy!!!  And furthermore, we get a pretty amazing action packed showdown with the bat devil in this one!  Kinda surprised the fallout wasn't worse, but considering it all ended well, I guess they can call it a win lol.  Also Denji was totally trying to protect people - he might not be a superhero, but he's got some decency alright!  Speaking of decent, this should be interesting now that poor Aki has both Denji and Power living with him!!!  Power is pure chaos, good gawd!!!  Another cliffhanger too, I guess, if you wanna call it that :P  Great ep!  Can't wait for more!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Power honestly is my absolute favorite female character in all of the anime I've seen, which I feel is high praise because the Soul Eater manga has my #1 female character that made me fall in love with anime as its main character :D

Also, shoutout to Denji for being a character with very... sensual things as core motivation without being creepy, perverted, and asking for consent :D Likes his pet, fell in love with toast, and loves boobs, I can genuinely relate to him

Hi Hime :) More than a "good job", when Makima congratulates Power, it is more of a "good girl" in the sense that she is obedient, or at least, that she is afraid enough of Makima to be obedient. And yes, we put you on the trail of Power being more of a cat, because we knew what was happening. You also summarized the situation, now that all three of them are under the same roof, Aki has a dog and a cat, because the two get along as such. But like these animals, we must give them time to tame each other. You have two important pieces of information about the demons given to you, they all have a name and the more feared it is, the more powerful the demon, so the tomato demon at the beginning must not have been that powerful. On the other hand, the bat or the leech, they must be at another level. The other information, demons can regenerate by consuming blood. For Power who is the blood devil it is logical, but we see that it works for the bat devil too. Aki making her coffee, washing her face and smoking her cigarette, something very simple and common. It's something that Mappa seems to like doing now, you can already see it with Geto in JJK when he prepares his tea in one of the flashback episodes, we can feel this same state of mind. Aki who makes a symbol in the shape of a fox with his fingers, to summon the fox devil (nine tails?), after Ace in Geats, you definitely can't escape it lol. The ending of episode 3 is by Maximum the hormones, known for the second opening and ending of Death Note. It's a group that I've known for years, they also did the final song of the Dragon Ball Super movie about the return of Frieza. We can say that the end of episode 4, really leaves us... hanging on. A little additional information on the group, formed in 1998 by Daisuke (harsh vocals) and Nao (drums and female vocals) with two other members Sugi and Key. Sugi and Key left the group in 2001 and so Daisuke and Nao were joined by Ue (bass) and Ryo (backing vocals, guitar and Nao's little brother). They are classified as metal or nu-metal or often compared to System of A down, because their style mixes several elements of rock, punk, metal and many others, with a change of style within a song itself. Since the group has existed for more than twenty years, they have left their mark and inspired many other groups. Hanabi, a Japanese metal group, made up of four young women, started in high school as a group doing covers of Maximum the Hormones and now that they are making their own songs, they also have this tendency to mix genres. Band Maid, a female hard rock band, and either Lovebites (female power metal band) or Nemophila (female heavy metal band) both have female drummers who were inspired by Nao, the drummer of Maximum the Hormones. In short, Maximum the Hormones is not a small group, but a real heavyweight in the Japanese metal scene, so having them is still very cool.

Back in 2020 Power actually ranked 1st place in a popularity poll for Chainsaw Man characters. It’s safe to say the people of Japan love her. (In that same poll Denji got 5th place lol)

So let’s back up the truck for a minute… even devils have genders and… apparently the Bat Devil and the Leech Devil were both an item? Well, in more ways than one, I guess you could say their fate really… sucked. Not only does Hayakawa’s contract with the Fox Devil look very Demon Dog-ish, but you could also say the character design resembles Fushiguro. So no it’s not a jump to make. I’d like to point out Hayakawa’s “deal” with Denji regarding Power’s little charade is just another example of him being told he’ll get something he wants if he’s a good boy. Hayakawa’s peaceful morning was too peaceful… in fact, you could kind of have seen it coming… also does anyone else get the feeling that Makima likes to “stir the pot,” both literally and figuratively? You could almost hear her smirking while she said “you’re the only one I trust.” Either way we have a Dog Devil and a Cat Fiend in the same house. Say goodbye to that morning peace… cause I don’t think it’s coming back anytime soon…! 😅 Also, remember, you only get one chance each at all of these end credit iTunes reminders.

Yeah I mean, I guess devils aren't so different from us after all? I agree, Hayakawa is very Fushiguro-ish! Omg, poor dude just wanted a peaceful morning lol. I do get the idea that Makima likes mischief in a way! Hahaha this is probably what they meant when the phrase "fighting like cats and dogs" was invented! Goodbye peace and quiet! Oh good call, I better get on that playlist - thanks!

That's true, it is sorta like "good girl"! You were right about the cat similarities! Omg poor Aki! That's really interesting about the power levels and how they relate to the type of demon. Right, even Denji mentioned needing some blood, so they definitely need blood. I love that Mappa puts so much into "simplistic" scenes, there's really something so impressive about it, even next to action-packed scenes! Ohhhh there's totally some Geats similarities!! No kidding about the ending being by the same band as the Death Note theme! Sounds like an awesome band!! I had no idea they had such an interesting history too, wow!!! No wonder their sound is so unique!! No wonder they've made such an impact on the music scene and have influenced so many other bands!!! Thanks for the info!!

Yay, we finally get to meet my 100% favorite character in the show, Miss Himeno....not much screen-time but she's been introduced.

Hello Melissa, the two episodes of CSM were fantastic. you got a lot more emotional insight into characters like Power and Aki. I have to admit I'm not a big fan of Power right now. She has a similar personality to Denji and contributes to a good group dynamic but her character is not really my cup of tea. Still, I found her backstory with Meowy pretty cute, since I'm also a big cat lover. Also the fight with Denji against the two devils was extremely spectacular. What I like about CSM is that the fights are not censored like in other brutal shonen. In jojo, the censorship has always bothered me because it was mostly unnecessary. But fortunately the problem doesn't exist anymore since part 5 and hopefully it won't happen again in part 7. In the next episodes you will get to know one of the most hated characters in CSM. I'm curious how your opinion about her will be?

Hey Bellana! :) They were! I loved getting to know them better. Interesting about Power! I can see that reasoning though. The Meowy stuff was wonderful though right lol! The fight scenes were amazing! I hear you about the censorship, I wish there was a way to watch Jojo without it, but from what I understand other streaming services have worse subtitles if they feature the gore for some reason lol, so I guess I'll have to live with it. Ohhh great that Part 5 doesn't have it though!! Ooohhh I can't wait to meet this hated character, wow!!!
