***Sound should be fine on this one!!***

Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 1, episode 8 of Ahsoka!!!  WOW what a finale!!!!  As much as I would have loved to have seen everything all wrapped up here, this only opens things up for another season down the road.  The New Republic will have their hands full now that Thrawn's loose, but at least they got Ezra back!  Meanwhile, Ahsoka and Sabine basically swapped places with him lol.  I love Ahsoka's attitude about it though.  I loved what they did with capping off the character development for Sabine/Ahsoka!  And I love the little things, like the mentions of Kanan, and Anakin watching over her....!!!!!  What a great series and season!  Can't wait till we hopefully get more!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I’m really looking forward to your reaction, Mel, although I haven’t seen it yet. However, I have seen the episode and just wanted to say how cool ( and in places moving) it was in many ways - fingers crossed for a season 2. Or perhaps the Dave Filoni film will continue the story, or at least connect to it? A shout out for Diana Lee Inosanto who played Morgan Elsbeth though: she is a genuine martial artist (Bruce Lee was apparently her Godfather) and it really obviously showed in the fight scene. I also think Rosario Dawson has really stepped up to the mark in the fight scenes too. And then there is my favourite character for the series, Baylan Skoll. Ray Stevenson created an incredible screen presence with this character, and the character was fascinating, complex, and in many ways very likeable. And it’s ridiculously cool that his goal seems to involve something related to the Mortis Gods.

Quick sidebar: when you do the live action shows, you might want to turn the volume up a little when you’re mastering the finished video - sometimes it’s hard to hear or re-hear what’s being said, and since you don’t use the subtitles it’s possible we might not know what the line is you’re trying to analyze. It’s not bad as is… I’m just saying there’s room for improvement. Maybe it’s because anime is generally mastered at a louder volume? Okay, where to start on this episode… The ritual Morgan undertook seemed very similar, if not the same, to the motions Ventress went through back in Clone Wars when she found her sisters. Dave Filoni pretty much has invented all of this lore himself, ever since CW, so it makes perfect sense he’d know how to implement it in something he’s writing. I view Thrawn as a bit of a chess master: it’s a very strategic game where you must think several moves ahead at all times. However, he seems to be quite keen on the sacrifice. The idea is to eliminate one of your lesser important pieces to benefit a more important one. Thrawn’s goading of Ahsoka didn’t work, but he is right about them having some similar traits. What’s MORE telling is Huyang telling Ezra about Ahsoka fretting over Sabine, that she was training for the wrong reasons, and she feared her student would become dangerous. After what happened with her master, can you blame her? That was what frightened her the most. “The relationship between student and master is as complicated as it is meaningful.” I think what Huyang was trying to convey is that it’s important for both - and there are plenty of examples in here of at least three different such relationships - and they’re all connected. Speaking of relationships Ashoka’s Palawan took crash landing to a new style - did her master ever manage to do something like that? 😅 You seemed a little shocked when Morgan mentioned Dathomir, but they’ve been calling her a “child of Dathomir” since the start? The night troopers being resurrected kind of reminds me of when Talzin reanimated the corpses of her fallen sisters against Dooku. The cargo was never specified, but when I saw all of it - I thought - those aren’t… coffins… are they? Do you REALLY need me to spell this out for you, especially when Thrawn has arrived at Dathomir? Thrawn’s back in the galaxy, Ezra got home but Hera’s dealing with politics, Shin has teamed up with bandits, Baylan did say he was seeking “the beginning.” That kind of adds up. And Ahsoka and Sabine are stuck with the Noti. Sabine finished what she set out to do, so she can finally let go of that burden. When she said she can feel he made it, it kind of reminded me of Leo’s and Han’s conversation about Luke after the second Death Star blew up. So we didn’t resolve Baylan’s goals at all, but it’s too bad Ray Stevenson won’t get a chance to reprise his role, he did a good job in it. I think there’s definitely sufficient evidence here to continue this little story. Last thing - I picked up on what Sabine was putting down but she wouldn’t have had any connection to Anakin. The shadows in the starlight line kinda picked up the Force Ghost vibe for me. But… Ahsoka would be able to sense Anakin slightly, and yes, somehow he’s still involved without being hands-on. Sabine on the other hand… I think she may have felt ANOTHER presence… one that she probably wasn’t trained well enough to see. Do you understand what I’m saying? The Force is working in mysterious ways again… Also brain hurt, need cookie needs to be a T-Shirt. You know EXACTLY what I hope you’re doing next week. (Whispers subliminally: Oshi No Ko? Oshi No Ko! Oshi No Ko? Oshi No Ko.) /is waving his hand as he uses the Force as a memory trick, nothing to see here. 👀 Next time, though, more Chopper please! 😁

I hope you enjoy my reaction! Oh I couldn't agree more!! Yeah I'm not sure, I found out after that there's no official plans for season 2, so maybe the film will wrap it up? WHOA, no kidding about Morgan Elsbeth's actress, that's amazing!! Bruce Lee was her godfather?! That's wild! You know what's funny, I thought of Bruce Lee during those scenes because I remember hearing that while filming Green Hornet they had to slow down his martial arts scenes because the camera couldn't capture his movements, they were too fast :O And that's how her style looked!!! Rosario definitely stepped up too to be able to keep up in those scenes, good on her! Her hard work really shows. Baylan was awesome, total surprise fave character for a lot of folks I'm sure! I know, I can't wait to know more of his goal hopefully in another season or movie. It's so sad on so many levels that the actor's no longer with us. He did an amazing job!!!

Thanks for the feedback on the volume!!! It's definitely something I wanna work on, it's tricky with live action vs. anime. In anime I automatically have subtitles so the volume isn't as much of a deal, but live action always has this tricky dialogue-is-too-low-music-is-too-loud thing!! I'll keep toying with it though, thanks! Oh yeah, this was very similar to Ventress' ritual! Good call. Dave Filoni's a mastermind! That's a great way to describe Thrawn's methods actually, it's a lot like chess, which involved a big element of sacrifice. I know, you can't blame Ahsoka for having the fears she did! But she's overcome that now and Thrawn's not gonna get to her that easily. Well said about the master-padawan relationships too. HAHAHA did Ahsoka actually manage to top the Anakin landings?!!? Yeah I just get excited at any reference to Dathomir. For some reason I always think it's gonna involve Maul lol. But clearly, we're just dealing with Nightsister stuff here. Yeah the reanimated stormtroopers were a lot like the reanimated Nightsisters going after Dooku. Yeah I mean, we're definitely dealing with something undead in the cargo aren't we?! Like that much is obvious! Love that Sabine's arc came full circle. And true, there was some similarity to that line when Ahsoka says she can feel that he made it. So sad about Ray Stevenson!!! He did such a great job here. Ooooh interesting theory about Sabine sensing someone else...!!! Hahaha should that be my first piece of official Hime merch? The "Brain Hurts Need Cookie" shirt?!?! Hahahah Oshi no Ko went on the poll as promised, but it looks like I might be checking that out second after Chainsaw Man!!! I do really wanna check it out though!!!

I was cracking up when I saw the title this episode, that’s probably one of my favorites of these shows lol. The one disappointing thing in this finale was the lack of Baylan and Shin. I could’ve sworn they said this was a limited series, so the fact that we didn’t get a conclusion with them with Ray in the role was unfortunate. Whoever they recast as Baylan will have some huge shoes to fill. But now I’m more curious and excited than ever for whatever he’s looking for, I was freaking out so hard about noticing the Father’s face that I didn’t notice the Son and (headless) Daughter were there too. 😅 Sabine’s use of the Force was perfect, even the push wasn’t anything super huge it was just a lot of trust between them. And little did we know that all the times Ezra was jinxing by saying things like “I can’t wait to go home” that he would be the *only* hero leaving. Ezra immediately pretending to be a trooper was so perfect and Chopper being the one to recognize him was so on point. And getting Hayden one last time at the end was the best, I really hope he comes back again in season two. 😭

Nice!!! So glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I'm sure they're planning to do more with them later, maybe that's why they held back? It's so sad about Ray! And so true, the recast is gonna be tricky. Same, I kinda noticed the Son but couldn't quite put together who it was, and didn't even notice the daughter! I agree about Sabine's use of the Force, it was just right for this! Hahaha dang so true about Ezra's words being ironic! OMG I loved the scene between him and Chopper! One last Anakin scene was the cherry on top for sure. I hope maybe we'll get some flashbacks in season 2 as well though!!!

Even tho some or a lot of star wars "fans" don't enjoy or at least don't enjoy all these new projects as much as past series. They are still very good in their own right. I know Book Of Boba Fett wasn't too well received because it didn't showcase the Boba everyone was hoping to see. That Cold, powerful, all business questions never Boba. And the fact that they didn't showcase Cad Bane as all powerful like he was during the clone wars even tho he was confirmed to be 70-71 years old, literal old man. Or the fact Mando got 2 episodes basically to himself But I enjoyed the Boba we got. I mean who would be the same after surviving a sarlacc and the harsh conditions of the dune sea. As well as living with a tusken tribe for awhile. Or Mandalorian S3 and Obi-Wan even got some hate. Which is wild because I thought S3 of Mandalorian was perfect. Obi-Wan was good I can agree with some of the complaints about it but overall it was good. Anyway! Now I'm just waiting for Season 3 of Bad Batch OMG! I'm also waiting to see if there will be a Book of Boba Fett S2 because I wanna see how Tatooine is doing under Boba's leadership and how Cobb vanth is doing etc. Ahsoka S2 and The mandalorian movie are also gonna be great and I can't wait for them.

kamenriderhime

I agree! And I've heard the criticisms of BoBF as well, and although I recognize the reasoning, I'd have to agree that I was overall happy with what we got. Same with Mando s3. And I LOVED Obi-Wan!! I really just can't comprehend hate against it lol. I really hope we get more Book of Boba Fett!! Can't wait for Ahsoka and the Mando movie as well! And of course, Bad Batch s3 is just now starting up - I'll be checking it out in a few more weeks when one of my other shows wraps up!!!!!!!! XD
