Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to episode 2 of Kamen Rider Gotchard!  We get a lot more info on what alchemy is, how it works, etc. here which is great!  Plus, Hotaro is officially an alchemy student now, woohoo!!  I'm loving how the crew is coming together and I can't wait to see some of these new characters, including the one they introduced at the end.  Plus we meet Skebow who is just such a loveable skateboard...until they're not lol!!!  Great message on how something can be neutral until it's influenced with negativity in some way.  Loving it so far!!!

Now that we come to episode 2. I want to say some couple things. I think the series did not do well in introducing characters. The name of the mysterious alchemist who give Houtaro the driver is never mentioned in last episode, but apparently did mentioned in this episode intro. Also, no character stating his name in the episode, so I don't want to talk about him much. What I can say is, his name might contains a spoiler, and he might be one of the important character (even though he already disintegrated). As I stated in last episode, Alchemy is somehow giving life to non-living being and change its rule (for this show). It did somehow closer to science than magic, but I think it did also contains a little bit of magic so that kids can digest it easily. Within this episode opening. You saw a lot of characters. They did make their appearance at the end. The 2 students in red uniform. Why are their uniform is red you think? And also, we could not miss this guy. The man in black and purple costume with his big spanner sword! As you can see from the opening, there is both a yes and no. He is a transformable character, but not considered a rider. If you have watched Kamen Rider Build, you would have familiar with this kind of character, but apparently, there are also this kind of character appear in another series. I bet you will feel thrill seeing his name. Mashin Chaser! Yes, he is that Kamen Rider Chaser from Drive. Just that, he doesn't considered a rider from the very start when he transform with his gun. We call this kind of character a "Debatable rider", the warrior which transform and clad on armors, but not considered as an official rider. The best way to spot this kind of character is that they don't say "Henshin" when they transform, but they might say something else. Anyway, not all of those not say "Henshin" are debatable rider. And some of debatable rider will have opportunity to become a rider in the future, such as Chaser. So, what we looking for is for the spanner guy to become a rider. For now that they never mentioned both his name and transformed form, I won't say it. But one thing to be clear, he is an ally. More like a rivalry ally. His design is too far from happy and corporate ally, so I bet they will not corporate first, but they have the same enemy. This quite the first time maybe? For the newer generation, that we have a debatable rider as an ally, not enemy. We gonna see next time for what he will do. One thing does not make clear in this ep. Does the theif aware that he's possessed by a Chemy possessed by his malice? I believe a human skateboarding and transform to steal money is not something ordinary person would do, but he's acting like that is his natural ability... or Stand ability? Introducing our new friends: Odorippa, Golddash, and Skebows! I kinda question how did Houtaro know that Skebows just want to play since they only just met. Seems that the episode try to convinced us that he can communicate and feels the feeling of Chemy. But somehow that's live me a little bit confused. Anyway, Rinne's casual costume is cute, so I will overlook that for now. This is another time where we see some technical creativity in action scene, Houtaro transformed into Wild mode to launch Golddash up in the air is proven to be something super useful for that kind of form. Also, Odorimantis! A new form! But it's a wild mode... Actually, with hundreds of cards, I doubt they will be able to make them into costumes. They need at least 50 different forms for that, and judging from its history, that would be too much. However, every card has Gotchard in related form printed on the back, and so the sound programmed in the driver, so we might assume that is is possible to transform, but might not used in the series. Or they might go for wild mode instead. Right now, there are 4 forms leaked from official that has its Rider form, you know one of them already, the SteamHopper. So we gonna have to looking for OdoriMantis rider form. Seems like no Chemy unsealed from a card in this ep, even though the alchemist in previous ep can freely do it. Even Hopper1 was not seen outside. So... the question is, how could Odorippa lost weight and how does Kamantis gain weight?! Apparently, Houtaro's method is not correct, but somehow, it's worked. I mean, without the ring and theory understanding, changing card weight should be impossible. And that's what they said in the sypnosis for this ep last week. "Houtaro will face with impossible entrance exam!" They just somehow never stated in this ep. And what's with that career form? I think that would not be an appropriate topic to talk after a catastrophe. And if Mr. Minato really eager to make Houtaro write something on the sheet, and that he's encouraging him into being Alchemist, why giving him an impossible exam without telling him anything at all? It's like... "You need to make a way to some place! You find your goal? Let's me put an impossible obstacle for you, and I won't tell you how to overcome that, but you still need to go, or else you back to square 1 again." Now it's clear that the alchemist is not Houtaro's dad, because he would remember him if he is. And now, he seems to be Rinne's dad. Wait, does that mean the spoiler content is lifted? Ok, I think so. Anyway, Rinne's smile is cute, so I will also overlook that too. Also, I will state again. The Gotchanko form must be one with their level sums up to 10. And from what I see, no same attribute can build a match. So... Skebows and Golddash gonna matched with some card from another attribute. Can you figure out what level their match are after the Chemy-dex reviewed? Well, that's it for today. See you in the next ep! Not rather a fun fact, but my hypothesis: We have seen Hopper1 hopping from inside its card in Geats' final, also able to drag Houtaro to the scene from inside the card as well. So, whether sealed or unseal, it seems they have no problem living their life. The question is... do they eat or sleep? If so, how do they eat? I don't think they eat since they mostly sealed in the card. We haven't see Hopper1 eating Houtaro's leftover last ep too. So, they might not eat at all. I mean, some of them don't even have mouth. And how the heck can a Steamliner eat? Except that it has different kind of food and mouth. But still, we don't know for sure do they eat? And how? The first question to ask is if Kudoh’s father “stole” 101 Chemies that were being “protected” by the Alchemist Academy, what’s the story there? Don’t tell me we’re gonna have another corporation situation here… Also, it seems the Chemies really do indeed just want to have fun until they get touched by human malice… not gonna lie, I do get a little bit of a Grimm vibe but I also thought this is sounding very similar to the Humagear situation in Zero One. Almost too familiar, cause, you know… no human would ever be malicious for no reason… 👀 We have introduced a concept called mass exchange and I’m wondering if it’s something similar to equivalent exchange. Had to make the reference. Kudoh also said to Hotaro that alchemy doesn’t last forever. Also that’s the second time Hotaro has pushed Kudoh out of the way of danger… he’s trying to be a smooth operator already. She’s a total tsundere, but I get the feeling she’s starting to warm to him already… 🤭 Not enough info on the three new characters at the end yet. Oh by the way, the word you’re looking for is “frenemy.” There’s a whole lot of questions at this point, so I’m just putting bread crumbs together and trying to bake dough - it’ll be a while before everything makes sense, I’m sure.

Yeah there's for sure more to it, I'm just not sure what. I mean Kamen Rider is famous for having the corporations being corrupt so it wouldn't surprise me! Yeah it's totally reminiscent of Zero One!! And also the Grimm. I mean, it's a sad fact that where there's humans, there will inevitably be malice...!! I'm thinking maybe it's similar to equivalent exchange too! Hmm, alchemy doesn't last forever, interesting! I'm sure that'll come back into play at some point. Frenemy, there it is!!! I know, right now all we've got is bread crumbs!!! Hopefully dough will come later. Dang it, now I'm hungry for carbs!!!
