Hey everyone!  Here I am with Jojo Part 4, episode 5!!!  Oh dang, the stuff with the dad was just sad!!!  It explains a lot about the older brother....and it fleshes out (no pun intended) a lot of details about the people who served Dio.  But DANG!!!  What a gruesome ending, and a new enemy emerges....!!!  Really curious to dig deeper into the "big bad" for this season!  Can't wait for more!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Alright, so I don't usually have the time to make these posts since I'm usually on the road on Monday mornings, so I'm going to type this out in advance. I'll have a separate post on my thoughts on your reaction. o: Here's some Trivia for ya: Not a lot of voice actors to talk about this time, and that's mostly because Keiichiro wasn't a playable character when All Star Battle was just a PS3 game. I feel like he has *a* voice line in this version(Because certain items have character quotes from non-playable characters, which have actually been voice acted despite many of them only having a line or two at most.), but I can't find the credits of any of those roles. ....However in the anime he's voiced by Tomoyuki Shimura, who admittedly... I don't see much recognizable roles in there. I haven't watched a lot of the stuff he's in, but in Kingohger(This Year's Sentai) he plays Desnarak of the Bugnarok, who's one of the main villains... Or at least seemingly so since I feel like this show was written more like a Kamen Rider kind of show. ...So he's not in the PS3 game, but in the updated version that got released recently, Keiichiro's DLC! o: So of course he has his anime voice, though I should really boot that game up again. I haven't played it in a while... As for his Stand name, BAD COMPANY, it's a reference to a rock band. Technically a triple reference since it shares the same name as one of their songs AND their debut album. As for Okuyasu... He's played by Wataru Takagi, who voiced him in both the PS3 game AND the anime. Not going to lie, it's a great pick, and I'm sure you can see why. XD He's played Knuckle from Hunter x Hunter, the titular character of Great Teacher Onizuka, Ganju Shiba from Bleach, Bellamy from One Piece, The Armadillo Imagin from episode 43-44 of Kamen Rider Den-O... Honestly once you hear his voice, it's kind of easy to pick him out in a crowd. Now his Stand name is interesting. While every stand from now on is a reference, this is one of the few stands that actually twists it's name to differentiate itself from the reference. 'The Hand' is actually a reference to 'The Band', which is... A band. xD ...Also I *remember* you saying that Crazy Diamond looks like The World. Well let me point THIS out... The Hand's ability is kind of like Vanilla Ice's Cream, isn't it? It can erase space... It sends stuff to "who knows where". I mean... Josuke's stand looks THE WORLD... Okuyasu's stand has the abilities of Cream... COINCIDENCE?! I THINK *NOT*! .....But not in any meaningful kind of way, I think Araki's just having a little fun behind the scenes here. ...Also that mysterious new Stand User? Doesn't his stand remind you a Freiza? ESPECIALLY now that Freiza went Gold? xD (Diamond is Unbreakable was written LONG before Resurrection of F. ) He's not the only DBZ villain to be referenced in this part, so keep an eye out for the next one. It seems like we're getting a clump of voice actors that actually had a role in the PS3 game and managed to keep that same role in the anime. xD This stand user is voiced by Showtaro Morikubo, who I'd say is quite suitable for this kind of character. I'm not sure if you heard his stand name or not, but I'll let him introduce himself later if he has not. I think this is a reference you'll easily get. o: He plays Shikamaru from Naruto, Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4, and Bartolomeo from One Piece.

Hi Hime :) Since you're talking about HxH, Josuke was said to be the reference for Knuckle, there's also another DiU character who serves as a reference for another HxH character, you'll see him later. Still, Okuyasu shares his voice with Knuckle, Josuke shares his appearance with Knuckle, Okuyasu and Josuke are now friends, it's funny when you think about it. But that's not all, a character in this part is on the contrary a reference to another manga. Araki said that Koichi is inspired by San Gohan from Dragon Ball, his stand is also inspired by Dragon Ball, but you will see that later. So that's what we're going to have to deal with now, the arrows giving stand powers. Either it kills or it gives a stand power, which is a bit reminiscent of the difference between Holly and Joseph and Jotaro. You have to have a strong enough fighting spirit for that and my headcanon is that Koichi shouldn't have had a stand and died, but since he was healed by Josuke, it allowed his stand to awaken, without it being really combative for the moment. The story of the father of the Nijimura brothers, is a subtle reference to another event of part 2. In relation to George, the father of Joseph, killed by an ancient vampire of Dio who had survived. There we still have a minion of Dio who survived, but at what cost. Dio's shadow looms over and over again, it's almost as if we can't get rid of it. Speaking of other part reference, Okuyasu saying that Josuke's mother is hot, is again a pretty alternate version of Kakyoin saying that if he fell in love, it would be with a woman like Holly Which earned the nickname of MILF hunter to our cherry-loving redhead lol or rather, lelolelolelo. Now some answers to some of your questions. Can a stand act of its own free will? We already have the example of Anubis, but you will see others. Araki will have fun developing this concept which will "evolve" well. For example, a person can only have one stand, remember? This is a first example of a "broken rule", since even if it is only one stand, it is made up of multiple elements. But later it will be even crazier on this point. You also speak at a time of hard reboot when you try to imagine how Araki could have created a new Jojo. You are on the right track, since part 7, Steel Ball Run, is a story reset. Now, this story reset has an explanation, you'll have to continue the anime to find out which one ^^. Well, since you've already seen the title of the next episode, "Reverb" is the name given to Koichi's stand, but as you will hear, his name is originally "Echoes" like the Pink Floyd song.

Yo Melissa 🫡, I hope your craft fair was successful. I'm back from Sweden. it was really a great weekend. The Coldplay concert was fantastic and actually almost magical. I always get a bit emotional when so many people celebrate and sing together at the same time (there were around 70,000 people in the stadium). Now to today's Jojo episodes. I love the introduction episodes for Okyuasu and Keicho. Their stands are totally cool too. To be honest, Bad Company is one of my favorite stands in Part 4. I agree with you that Keicho is a tragic villian. I understand his motivations and I don't think he was a completely bad person. A sad background information about him is, that Okuyasu with The Hand could actually put their father out of his suffering but Keicho didn't want his little brother to become a murderer😞. Instead he decided to find a cure by himself. I often compare Keicho to Kars. Both characters have traits that aren't entirely evil, unlike Dio (I don't think we've seen him do a single good thing😅). As a watcher, you also witnessed this. You can't hate these two completely but they are still villains who play their role very well. The stand arrows are a good explanation as to why Dio was able to send so many stand users after the crew in Stardust.I always think it's so funny when Dio chooses his minions that he chose an orangutan, a sword and the Oingo Boingo Brothers.🤣. Next episode you will see Koichi's stand in action. I'm curious how you will find his stand.

The Bow is the Dad? That's the first time I hear that one! 😂😂😂 Also, the next episode name is also a localize one. The real pronounciation of what is () is something else.

Tyler Stobbe

Honestly, whenever you need to describe anything on this show, “It’s Jojo” pretty much covers it all. Well that had a few shocking twists in it… did anyone else get Demon Slayer vibes with the dad’s whole regeneration / can’t die thing? We even threw in a tragic backstory for good measure. Violence begets violence… the dad was not a good person, and his kids turned into what they were because of his actions. So both are guilty, and both are victims. It’s a vicious cycle and it wasn’t going to have a happy or tidy ending. The suspect said they “just got a Stand recently” so that should help Jotaro narrow the playing field. Now he has to look out for three goofballs himself. This is payback for Stardust Crusaders. Even without being on screen, DIO still manages to find a way to make everything difficult. But here’s the thing that’s really bothering me… Jotaro’s Stardust z crusaders adventure happened in 1997. Keicho said all the DIO stuff with his family happened a year LATER…! So now I’m REALLY trying to figure out what actually happened… But I’m running on fumes from a 16 hour day so that’s enough from me. Made it! XD

Manny

Heavy stuff right here. That was sad. There’s nothing else to say, that’s just very disturbing and sad. A sad fate for both, but it’s the price they paid. Regardless it was still so melancholy. Darn, you going to be doing three episodes each week? Cause I’m not sure how I’m going to survive with this shows bizarre heavy tendencies.😥

kamenriderhime

For sure!! I know, it really was! It really was a very sad tone to leave it on!! Lol no, probably not - I only did that cause this week's was a three parter! I'll mostly be doing 2 at a time. Hahaha it's a bizarre overload!!!!

kamenriderhime

Yup, that's a good catch-all reason huh! Oh yeah, I can see the Demon Slayer vibes! So true and well said - vicious cycle that sadly produces victims and aggressors at the same time. Right, for someone as sharp as Jotaro I feel like they gave a ton of info that he can go on just in that phone call. Poor Jotaro!!! Prickly as he is, I give him so much credit just for being here. I know, Dio's influence reached beyond his lifespan by a long shot, sheesh. Oh right, I noticed that too about the year difference - but I thought that's when he started having problems with his cells and the son started looking for the bow, not when he was actually approached by Dio? I could be wrong though - it was a lot to take in at once! Yikes, hope you can get some rest and get used to your time zone again!!!!

kamenriderhime

HAHAHHA after all I've seen on this show, I'd believe anything! :P Oh thanks for the info, I think someone else mentioned it too, I'll keep an ear out for it!

kamenriderhime

Hey Bellana! Aww thank you, it was a good day! Wow, that's awesome!! They must be amazing live, and I can totally see how everyone coming together to share in something so special would be a magical moment! That's a packed stadium alright! Whoa! So glad you had a great time!!!! Nice, Bad Company is a good one to have as a favorite, it's clever! Yeah Keicho's past vs. his present actions are much more complicated than I originally thought. Oh I never thought about that with The Hand....so in a way he was trying to protect his brother in that regard, too, wow! LOL Dio is just straight up evil, but I agree that Kars is a bit more layered like Keicho. I agree! That actually does explain all the Stand users doesn't it! LOL in that case, you do have to wonder why he chose those exact people :P I can't wait to see Koichi's Stand!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhh I thought that might be the inspiration for Knuckle!!! Thanks for clarifying! I can't wait to see the next HxH reference! So cool about the VA being Knuckle's VA, and Josuke having that similar appearance! Lots of Knuckle here lol. Awww I can see how Koichi is like Gohan!!! Awwww I love Gohan <3 Right, that does make sense about the Stand giving power or killing based on what we know about Holly from last arc. I agree, based on Koichi saying that he only managed to get the Stand because Josuke saved him, I think it's pretty likely he would have just died and not gotten one otherwise! Ohhh true about the correlation between a Dio minion in Part 2 and here in Part 4! Dio's still messing stuff up and he's not even alive!!! LOL I did think of Kakyoin when hot mothers were brought up hehe!! Poor Kakyoin never got to fall in love with someone like Holly :(((( I think of him every time I see anything cherry now lol!!! Oh that's true about Anubis, I forgot about that! Whoa, interesting that we'll be breaking some "rules" about things like multiple Stands! Oh wow, I'm curious about the story reset in Part 7, I'll have to see what you mean when I get there! I do hope it's still about the Joestar family, but it sounds like maybe we won't have any previous characters like we have for all the other arcs. I don't really wanna know the answer to this since I don't wanna get spoiled, but just for conjecture, I've got to imagine that at some point Araki will need to start setting these stories in the future, so maybe there's a big time jump and none of our other characters are around anymore! Guess I'll find out haha. Gotcha, Echoes makes way more sense, and another great reference to Pink Floyd! Thanks for the info!!!!

kamenriderhime

Thank you so much for all the info and for taking the time to write when you had to be on the road!!! Safe travels!! That's interesting about Keiichiro's role in the games and VA! Are there a lot of Jojo games out there? I'm not great at games, but I might have to check them out! Oh yes I know (and love) Bad Company!! I agree about Okuyasu's VA, I knew as soon as I heard him who it was!! So awesome! Wow, what a resume!!! He has a unique sound for sure! Gotcha, "The Band" is pretty self explanatory haha. Ohhhh that's a great point about The Hand being similar to Cream....!!! I mean, that is a lot to be a coincidence! But it's probably just Araki flexing like you said haha. OMG I can totally see the Freiza similarities!! I'll keep an eye out for other references! Oh, Red Hot Chili Pepper? I think I caught that, yes! No kidding about his resume too, wow!!!!! Thanks so much for all the info!! ^_^

Senpai

There's a variety, though I don't know which ones have come out over here... I wish I could say at least the PS3 Fighting game, the new updated version of that fighting game, and Eyes of Heaven(PS4) might be games worth checking out, especially the latter since it gives us an original MULTI-PART CROSSOVER STORY. ...Buuuuut those games are rife with spoilers for Jojo, all the way up to THE END OF PART 7, whose anime has yet to even come out. ...Technically there's part 8 spoilers in there as well, but at the times the games were made there wasn't a lot to spoil for Part 8. xD BTW... Speaking of Persona 4, I do kind of think that the game might have taken a few cues from Diamond is Unbreakable in it's set up. The way they find the first few dead bodies in that game does bear a resemblance with how they found Keiichiro's body...

Tyler Stobbe

I wanted to let you know this yesterday for schedule purposes but got super tired. If you stick with the 2-episode-per-week normal format from here on out it should automatically hit all the two parter arcs correctly until we get up a little closer to the 20s. :)

kamenriderhime

Oh okay! Interesting! Oh wow, I guess I'll be waiting a while then haha, wouldn't wanna get spoiled! Part 8?!!? Dang, how many parts are there lol!!! That's so cool about Persona 4! I've heard of those games but never played them. Yikes!!

kamenriderhime

Ohhhh cool thank you for this, I was wondering! I don't dare look ahead in case of spoilery thumbnails or titles, so this is a big help, thanks :D

Senpai

In terms of completed Jojo Parts, we just finished Part 8 very recently. It's actually kind of funny because the PS3 game was released when Part 8 was VERY new, but then the PS4/PC All Star Battle R version game recently *after* Jojo Part 8 had ended... Yet (so far) they haven't put in any further Part 8 stuff in there. xD In parts total, Part 9 just started to get released very recently. It's rumored to be the final part, but I don't think that's been officially declared yet.

kamenriderhime

Wow! I feel so behind now haha! I'm over here racking my brain as to how we're gonna get more Jojos to continue this story....like Jotaro and Josuke each better go have an army of kids or something LOL! So Part 9 might be the last?! Wow!! Anywho, that's interesting that they didn't add more Part 8 stuff to the game, what a missed opportunity!

This is what would have happened to Noriaki Kakyoin and Jean Pierre Polnareff if Jotaro wasn't there. They would've turned into immortal monsters. Literally. Forever. Which is also a metaphor, ya know. Jean Pierre - well, you know, he's lost his sister. Meanwhile Noriaki - in various sources, it's strongly implied that the boy had almost suicidal thoughts and depression before meeting Dio and getting fleshbudded. (That's what 'I'm not going back to the coward I used to be' is. Kakyoin, not suicidal now because he knows what he's living for (and personally, I'mflashbacking to "The Beast that Cried 'I'" episode in Neon Genesis Evangelion (Kakyoin is a shounen Shinji but not ;) or rather the other way 'round but not 😆 ), had no empathy for his previous depressed self. Of course. Because he's so young and his own harshest critic. :) ) and meanwhile Jotaro will never know that he saved their very souls. Literally. Forever. (If you told Jotato that, he would tell them that no, bullshit, he got them killed. I mean, he wouldn't tell you, literally. He'd just think that at you. Hard. With a fist. Jotaro is not the best at being with people.) Conclusion: in some fanfic AU Jotaro should punch Shinji. EoE doesn't happen. Shinji stands up and becomes happy. For a few days. Pft. Okay, enough or I will write a fanfic. 😆

kamenriderhime

Exactly!!! It's awful to think about! That's so true about Polnareff losing his sister being sort of a parallel too! I hadn't thought of that. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh wow I'd never heard that theory about Kakyoin before but it actually makes sense, especially with the line about being a coward. :O So true, Jotaro would a) feel guilty for their deaths and b) not be able to take a compliment lol. Oooh definitely get going on the fanfic!!! Haha
