Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2, episode 16 of The Bad Batch! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!  Tech :(((((((  I know we have lost our own before, but not like this....Tech made sure they could all live, now it's up to them to make sure we get our crew all back again!  Omega!!!  Maybe she and Crosshair will have to team up...or maybe the scientist/sis will help!!!  I knew it btw!!  Sadly, I knew it about Cid too, but I really wanted to believe for a second that she made the right choice, sheesh.  What a finale!  This was their Empire!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Plan 99 is a call back to clone 99 himself (after which our crew here is also named); who always put the needs of his brothers above himself - which is what Tech does by sacrificing himself to save the rest. He got so much development this season too and perhaps would have settled down with Phee given the chance. Alas, that won't happen now. RIP Tech. :( After they get out but are injured, they seek out AZ to get treatment as the droid knows all about clone physiology; that does mean however going back to Cid. And after all they have been through, she follows through and turns them in to the Empire for a few creds. Never trust a Trandoshan! She has some guilt about it, but does it anyway. From a story point of view, I'm glad they followed through with that plotline with her, but it sucks to see it unfold especially now the crew are at their lowest point as they try to process Tech's death. There is a very subtle but lovely moment on the shuttle, where Echo is on his own in his seat, and looks to the other seat - Tech's seat. Echo and the rest of the remaining Bad Batch understand Tech's sacrifice, but they will also lament his loss. So this his how things now stand, our crew suffered losses and are missing members. Hunter has been looking to get out of the fight for a while, but he's not going to stop fighting until they get Omega back. Perhaps somehow they might get Crosshair out too, but the squad will never be complete as Crosshair has went through too much and won't be the same, and Tech is gone. What also hurts is that we'll never hear the Bad Batch theme either again since the squad has been torn asunder. Doctor Emerie being a female clone wasn't all that surprising, I wonder what her story is and where her loyalty actually lies? By the way as an aside, after all these years going through Clone Wars, Rebels, Tales Of The Jedi and now Bad Batch; you are finally caught up with the rest of us! Congratulations Melissa! :D Season 3 has been confirmed and we believe will be released next year; however it will also be the final season! I'm kind of terrified at the prospect of that, as I don't think I want to see where this all leads. I think our crew may somehow get Omega back, but unsure about Crosshair. And will the rest of them make it either? We may also see a full-on clone rebellion as they may rise up in one final fight against the Empire with Rex and Echo leading them. We know what happens, so I'm worried the final season will be one big tragedy.

So I meant to draw attention to this last episode but has anyone noticed just how careless the Empire is with their so-called “clearance codes?” They work against them here, and against them in Return of the Jedi so they never did pick up on that… Tech is pulling a Spock of sorts, “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” If you were asking him, cutting the line would be a perfectly logical decision. Also notice how Order 66 is kill all the rest, and Plan 99, is, save all the rest. Because it’s flipped. I don’t think that was done by accident. Omega in particular seems to deal with loss or the potential of loss very poorly. Yes, she’s a child, even though she’s matured quite a bit, so some of that’s natural. However… I can think of another… prominent character… in this series… who also… didn’t adjust well… to losing people… 😬 I mean, the bread crumbs were there with Cid for a while. Are we really that surprised? Now, regarding what actually happened, I don’t think she was pleased about having to do it. I took it as “the Empire was going to find you anyway at the rate they were looking, so I had to protect myself.” Hemlock never mentioned where his base was. Now, he did say Tech’s goggles were all he could salvage. My question is if there was anything else around to confirm death or is it a pair of busted glasses. I remember another person who survived a long fall because of a grappling hook. They are laying it on pretty thick though. Maybe we should see if his VA signs back on next season… well, that’s not gonna work, either, is it? What’s the actual deal going on in Hemlock’s base? What is the significance of Omega’s so-called “sister?” What’s going on with Crosshair? What is Project Star Dust? Ya know, considering who’s throwing their weight behind this series, I’m pretty sure Season 3 is being worked on, even if we haven’t heard anything official yet. I mean, it’s Star Wars, it’s not like there isn’t an audience for it. 😉 Until next time!

I mean, because of the Writer's Strike I wouldn't be too surprised if Bad Batch Season 3 and alot of other Star Wars Projects are delayed for a couple years.

I took a day of silence in reaction just for Tech :(

Lol yeah it's a good thing they're not paying more attention to stuff like that! He very much pulled a Spock! I know, I noticed that about the inversion of 66/99, and the meaning is quite literal! I agree it's not a coincidence! Weeeeell, that is true about the other character who didn't deal well with loss :/ I'd say so far Omega seems to be dealing with it a bit better, of course it's always hard for someone so young. Plus she seems to be really, really empathetic and in tune with her emotions. Yeah, they gave us every hint about Cid. :( No, she didn't seem pleased at all. Oh, I guess I was just hearing things with Hemlock. I was kinda thinking that myself about, is there any way that Tech survived?? He did have a grappling hook!!! HAHAHAHA no the VA trick won't work on this series :P I'd love to know more about this base and Omega's "sister"!!! Also, another comment clarified that Stardust is a codename for the Death Star, which I kinda knew at once point I think, but had forgotten, so oops lol. That's true, we'll all keep eating up this Star Wars content as long as they keep putting it out!!!! Next week: Vox Machina season 2!!! ^_^

kamenriderhime

I love that!!! It fits so well :') Tech truly pulled a 99 here for sure, may he rest in peace! He got so much growth this season and I thought for sure they'd dig more into this potential relationship with him and Phee. So sad!!! Right, makes sense they'd go for AZ, but they also means going back to Cid. Ugh!!! She showed her true colors alright. It was seriously a low blow like you said, after just having lost Tech. What a time to follow through on all the hints about her this season! Ohhhh I have to go back and see that scene again with Echo, it sounds so sad!!! Just when they thought they could settle down! Oh no, no more Bad Batch theme?! This truly changes them forever - they've lost one of their own and even Crosshair will be very different like you said. The original squad is no more. I was proud that I guessed right about Dr. Emerie! I know, I'd love to know more. Omg, you're right!!!! I'm finally caught up, yay!!! :D Whoa, I'm scared about next time being the final one too! And that's interesting about the writer's strike. I wonder when it will actually come out. A clone rebellion would be interesting to see for sure! But I'm worried since any one of our crew is basically fair game in terms of whether or not they'll make it. It might be one big tragedy with the tiny glimmer of hope, as Star Wars always gives us one way or another!!! I guess we'll find out!!!

Perhaps other Star Wars media may start to get delayed, I know it almost happened with Andor season 2, and they had just finished the final drafts of their scripts something like a week before the strike happened. However in Bad Batch's case, I think they will already be finalised. Generally when they air, they were started to be worked on two years before. I told Mel that the Pabu episode for example, was being made when we were all in lockdown because of Covid, so if Bad Batch comes out next year, they have probably already wrote all the episodes and are working away on the animation side right now. Fingers crossed anyway, I know this season was delayed quite a bit however already, so perhaps you could be correct Brandon, that there may be other delays with season 3. We'll see.

I do think Omega will make it, and we may see her again down the line in the live stuff; but all the other Bad Batch members are fair game. Then we'll see what happens with Cody to see if he managed to meet back up with Rex, and join the fight back, and of course find out exactly what the whole clone assassin stuff was all about, and finally see what Hemlock will be doing to the clones and perhaps through Nala Se's work, begin to see other developments and clues about later stuff to tie in with Mando and perhaps the sequels. A lot to look forward to - and fear! :D Until now, lets see what Ahsoka's been upto; her series has been scheduled to start on August 23rd. I wonder what Filoni has planned, and I still haven't seen the trailer so will hopefully be fresh going into it! :)

kamenriderhime

Oh ok, good to know! It does seem like they're a bit ahead on Bad Batch. Fingers crossed for sure! I think you're right about Omega, but yeah, anyone else is fair game. :/ I'm sure they'll use this opportunity to fill in some gaps of how people ended up fighting together like you said. I can't wait to see what they have planned with this whole clone assassin thing, and true, I'm sure they'll tie it all back into what we've seen on Mando too. It's for sure a lot to be happy but also scared about!!!! Oh, I think we're in for a treat with the Ahsoka series!!!! I'm counting down the days!!! In the mean time, I've read the Ahsoka "junior" novel (just finished it last night) and I'm seriously thinking about reading the Timothy Zahn books before the show starts!!!!

Saltire

I really should look into the Zahn books too as some have been hinting online that the way some elements have been put in place, are like the beginning of the Heir To The Empire books, and that some parts of them will be used as inspiration for future stories.

kamenriderhime

I can totally see some of that material getting used in the future! I just started the first book of Heir to the Empire last night and already met Rukh lol, so they've definitely drawn upon some of it already! I'm hoping to have all three books ready by the end of August, wish me luck! (I'm a slow reader lol)

This episode and the last is the only reason I have pure hatred for Saw. If that bone headed, droid brain wasn't there or if he SAW! The bigger picture to sticking it to the empire. My Tech would still be here. I always say, a character that gets a little too much development. Is bound to end badly for them. Once I seen the focus on tech throughout the season I just knew. As for Cid, she's cool and all but I hope at some point she catches a blaster bolt. I can't wait for season 3, watched the trailer and I'm soo hyped. The scariest thing about this show is in canon. We don't hear much about the bad batch. That thought scares me because it could all end with them on pabu or! It could end badly for them. These guys have no plot armor like Ahsoka or Obi-Wan do. All we can do is hope that the rest of the dad batch and Omega make it out alive.

kamenriderhime

OMG I hear you, also love the "saw" pun!!! Oof, that's a good point about the over-development actually. It's a big death flag. Cid really messed up here!!!! I know, season 3 is coming soon! That's the thing, like why are they never mentioned.....the lack of plot armor is so real :/ I really really hope they all make it out alive, safe and happy!!! Except our poor Tech couldn't, of course, may he rest in peace :(
