Hey everyone!  Here I am with Jojo season 2, episode 44!!!  You guys.....nothing could have prepared me for this.  I was all set to let Polnareff go.....and then Iggy....!!!!  Watching him pass, watching Polnareff feel him pass, was just the most gut wrenching thing I've ever seen on this show, and that's really saying something.
But seeing the sand spirits fly away peacefully definitely helped.  I'm gonna miss Iggy and Avdol so much :(((((  It was also a neat twist to have Vanilla Ice turn into a vampire, but wow, Polnareff was NOT gonna be stopped after all that!  And we also got to catch up with Suzy, who definitely knew more than she was letting on!  And now....Dio.  :O  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Things about to get serious soon.

Yeaahh.... Vanilla Ice(Which is his real name, btw. I can bet you can guess the reference. XD) is pretty brutal. :c Honestly I always skip this encounter whenever I rewatch this series... Avdol's death messes me up the most because it's just so 'blink and you'll miss it'.. And Dio is only going to be worse. Vanilla Ice's stand is named after the band, Cream... And it's the first of many, many, MANY stands with band names. Also... Vanilla Ice? Cream? Get it? Vanilla Ice Cream! ......... It's a bad time to make bad puns, isn't it? 😟 If it possibly helps you feel ANY better... Iggy's definitely the worst of it. Now that we're past him, there's only one or two more dog deaths left in the show. I can't remember the exact amount, but I remember it ends in early part 4. We're almost there. ...Also say hello to Mariah's Future Husband! Give it up for Keeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy G!!!!! In the Spin-off manga they both settled down after Part 3 and started a bar together. Boingo also stays with the both of them.

Hi Hime :) First of all, a virtual hug because I know this triple episode was not easy for you to watch. The YES! YES! YES! or no! No! No! is a Jojo meme that gets used a lot. At the same time, there are many passages of jojo that can be memes. You remember a few episodes ago you were talking about ice cream and I told you that it was fun and that you should keep that in the back of your mind. It's because I knew you were going to meet Vanilla Ice later. It's a hell of a piece that one, probably one of the most striking enemies for multiple reasons. For the power of his stand, having a mouth that devours all, I personally think it comes from Stephen King's langoliers. I still remember seeing some clips from the TV adaptation when I was little and being traumatized by these species of creatures devouring everything in front of them. Small correction, the one who got attacked in the pillar is called Kenny G (like the saxophonist) but the localization renamed him to Billie Jean, which is a bit strange, to avoid a reference to an artist to reference another ^^'. By the way, now that you've met Vanilla Ice, the part of the theme just before we hear "Staaaaaar Platinium" being sung, you can see holes forming in space, it's a nod to the ability to Vanilla Ice. There are other elements of the theme that I will return to in future episodes. About Iggy's torture and his death, knowing it was coming, I gritted my teeth every time you said that at least the abuse was over... I knew it would be hard for you, it is for everyone I assure you. Nukesaku means idiot/loser, that's what the others called him and Jotaro just called him that because he's an idiot. It's a little joke that goes through the adaptation if you don't know the meaning of Nukesaku. But yes, these three episodes are something, and even if you have a little humor to relieve the atmosphere a little, it immediately puts in the tone that no one s safe. About your theory, I wouldn't say much about it, except that you're starting to think like a Jojo fan, expecting the unexpected, I can't say if it fits the next part, but keep it in a corner out of your head just in case.

Congrats on getting through the pain of the Vanilla Ice trilogy.

So my first question is…. Is it gonna be a while before you can hear a Vanilla Ice song after this weekend? 👀 By the way, I did want to point this out in the last reaction, but I forgot but - his stand name… was Cream. I’m sure you get the joke, and the pun. Your dog is probably used to your reaction sessions by now and just thinks it’s that time of the day, is what I’m guessing, which is why she didn’t crash the party. Regarding Iggy, he could’ve made a lot of different moves with his last breath but he chose to save his friend’s life rather than take his own vengeance. Also I don’t think that image at the end Polnareff saw was interpreted quite correctly - I read it as “we did our part. You make sure to finish the job.” Which kind of wraps in with what Suzie was saying. Everyone believes in the crew, and like DIO said earlier, they believed in each other enough to give up their own life if necessary. Meanwhile, we have, after seeing one of the most terrifying Stands… possibly the… “worst” villain on the show? As soon as the woman started acting like she was afraid of DIO drinking her blood, I got the hint something was off because we know DIO’s victims are willing to surrender their very essence to him. So I think I got that one even faster than Jotaro. But a woman’s head on the back of a man’s… how is that remotely useful? And after that little jaunt through the proverbial ringer, guess who’s finally joined the party? If this arc took a lot out of you, what will the next one bring, now that DIO is actually here…? Boy, I sure hope you took and enjoyed my prescribed RvB medicine this week after all of this, but I won’t find out until tomorrow. 😅

These three reactions were hard to get through. Avdol 🔥 and Iggy 🐕! Damn the the most unlikely as you said. I think Avdol learned a lot in his life. He was wise beyond his years so I think he wanted Polnareff to go on and learn. I think that’s why he chose to deny his instincts. I really like how the two opposites built up that friendship. And Iggy as well. Those two really had a hard beginning with Polnareff but ended up being his protectors. I couldn’t believe Avdol till they actually said it. But I for one am glad it was quick cause it was painful just knowing he won’t be coming back. And Iggy bleeding through and taking not just one but many blows for his ally. An empty shell with no soul like Vanilla Ice defeated after saying Iggy had no resolve was fitting. Iggy proved him wrong. Bless those two characters I’ll miss them dearly. Nothing could have prepared me for this. I’m usually looking forward to Jojo but every episode this week was just painful. 🔥 🐶 💔😢

kamenriderhime

Haha yeah the reference on this one was a bit more apparent to me! It was brutal!!!! Oof, I can see in retrospect how brutal Avdol's death is. Oh crap, I had a feeling we were just getting started! OHHHHHH yeah that's right, there is a band named Cream! I couldn't even enjoy the vanilla ice cream pun I was so upset here lol!!! Oof, I'm glad that the worst of it's behind me but dang, to think there's more dog deaths on this show lol. We're close to being done with them at least!!! Thanks for the info! Oh no kidding, Kenny G is Mariah's husband!!! And Boingo is sort of their adopted kid?! What a world lol!!

kamenriderhime

OMG..........was turning him into a vampire a huge setup just for that joke?!?!? I wouldn't put it past this author lol!

kamenriderhime

They were hard for me too!!! :(((( I'm glad you agree that they weren't the likely ones. Avdol was for sure wise beyond his years! Good point, he went against whatever his logic would dictate to make sure Polnareff lived. I loved the unlikely friendships we got from Polnareff and Avdol, and Polnareff and Iggy!! I couldn't believe it either! That's the thing, he almost had it better since he didn't suffer. Ugghh, watching Iggy suffer was awful. He for sure proved him wrong! I hear you, there's nothing that could have possibly prepared any of us for this - even though we knew there was probably something bad coming. I'll miss them too :((( Same, Jojo's usually my "fun" show and this week it just wasn't fun in that way!!!!! Maybe some good things are on the horizon??? But first, Dio....!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Thank you for the hug, I need it!! That's awesome about the yes/no meme!!! Ahhhh nooooooooo there was a mention of ice cream wasn't there!!!!! Ughhh!! Who knew that would come back to haunt me! I agree, definitely one of the worst opponents. Oh good call about the Stephen King reference. I can see why it freaked you out for sure! Ohhh that's weird that they'd rename him to a Michael Jackson song instead lol, I'd think that would be worse for copyright! Ohhhhh I knew there would be a reference in the theme, thanks for pointing it out! Oof, it must have been hard anticipating my reaction to the brutality! That's so funny that Jotaro just happened to call him nukesaku anyway! It's lost in translation a bit, but I get the gist now, thanks! I'm glad there was a little humor, but dang, otherwise these were really rough episodes! And you're right, no one is safe! Hmmm, interesting!!! I'm so curious to see if I got some, if any, of that theory right!!! Thanks!

kamenriderhime

Hahahaha God help me if I was a big fan of Vanilla Ice, I don't think I'd ever be able to listen to him again :P (Fortunately I'm not!!) Oh yeah, I noticed the pun either during or right after the reaction when I was syncing the files, but unfortunately I was in no state to appreciate it lol. Hahaha my dog is just used to the usual madness by now :P I know, the fact that he'd use his last breath to save his friend, it's just too much! Oh gotcha, I can see how the farewell scene with the sand could be interpreted that way. That's true, it does echo what Suzie said too, doesn't it. I'm thinking it was the worst so far, maybe tied with Death 13 in terms of horror, but way more powerful. Yeah the one at the end was definitely the worst in terms of execution lol, you're so right that as soon as "she" acted scared it was a giveaway that something was up. I'm not seeing the exact efficiency of that Stand either lol, but I guess it doesn't matter now! OMG, I'm not even close to ready for Dio after all that, but here we are! I did in fact take that RvB prescription and it did help tremendously :) Nothing like a good musical to help lift the spirits lol!!!

Leonie2003

Hi Melissa, that were three painful episodes. Am I glad Darby and Vanilla Ice were defeated?: YES YES YES Have I been crying with you the whole time, because of the sad scenes?: I do, I do, I do 😭 Jokes aside, these episodes blew my mind the first time I saw them. I shed as many tears as you did. I couldn't believe that two characters from our crew are gone forever. I'm sitting here on the beach in Greece in the most beautiful sunshine and have tears in my eyes again because of Jojo and your video. I hope other people don't give me weird looks😅. But that just shows that I love Jojo and your videos very much and that I can empathize with you in every emotion.🥰 Vanilla Ice is one of the most dangerous stand users to emerge to date. I like him as a villain as he is very easy to hate and has a very intense fight against Polnareff and Iggy. But his loyalty and devotion to Dio is a bit disturbing. Also, at first I didn't understand why Vanilla Ice just wouldn't die after being injured so badly. But on the second watch I noticed some details. For example, if Vanilla Ice has a chokehold on Silver Chariot, opening his mouth reveals that he has acquired vampire fangs. Something like that are really great details that you don't notice at first, but they are very awesome. By the way, I am very happy that you also listen to the Jojo Themes in your free time. They are all fantastic and have their own charm. I also think it's great that the lyrics are tailored to the events of a part. Regarding your theory on the next Jojo part. I'm amazed that anyone would come up with this theory so early. I admit I've thought about your proposed theory many times as well. but if it's true we'll find out when the time is right. I hope you have a good recovery from these episodes until next week's Dio fight. because this one will not be easy. I send you a huge virtual hug and wish you a pleasant week.☺️

Jotage

Yeah, these episodes were hard to get through. Especially Iggy’s death. I honestly don’t know which version of it was worse, in the old Stardust Crusaders OVA he suddenly got cut it half by Vanilla ice out of nowhere which was brutal. But seeing him get beaten like that here was also painful.

kamenriderhime

They really were! Ooof!!! That sounds awful too! Out of curiosity, which one was more faithful to the manga? Either way it's really awful to watch!!

kamenriderhime

Hey!! They certainly were! Awwww thanks for crying along with me!! The yes/no thing was amazing though! Awww I'm glad you're moved, and I can definitely see why this blew your mind the first time, and still brings a tear to your eye! Greece sounds amazing by the way, hope you're having a lovely time! Every once in a while I get emotional about the characters I love in public and have the same concerns lol! Vanilla Ice is definitely easy to hate but one can really appreciate just how powerful he is. Oh wow, I didn't catch those details either! That's really interesting!! Haha yes I do love the themes, the current one in particular! :D I agree that they're tailor made for each story that's being told. Wow!!! I'm glad my theory was ahead of its time!!! Interesting that you've had similar ones! I'll be so curious to know what comes next!! Thank you so much for the hug and recovery wishes!!! I'm excited yet scared for the big Dio battle! Have a great week and enjoy your vacation!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts here with me ^_^

Jotage

His death here was more accurate as it was taken straight from the manga.

Alex R

Gut wrenching! While this is not one of my favorite parts of Jojo, it does have some of the most emotional deaths. Vanilla Ice is no joke. One thing to note, starting with Vanilla Ice’s stand “Cream”, all other stands from here on out will be music references. So all the copyright and localized name changes will start to get really crazy in the next part haha Amazing reaction as always!!! I can’t wait to for the next one!

kamenriderhime

It really is! And I know, for a show that can be so silly, they know how to bring the drama and tragedy. Vanilla Ice was the worst!!! Ohhh thanks for the note on the references! Fortunately I've been able to pick them out if I listen to what they're actually saying. Hope you love my next reactions!!! I'm still gutted from them :O

Even yesterday, I believed that a fan JoJo's AMV using footage from both 90s and 2010s just can't exist. But now, look what YT's recommended me... hmmm, might not be for everybody, but I LIKE this AMV and wanna share! Song: Mac Miller: 100 Grandkids , and I'm not gonna link this on ep 48 as I've already spammed there, so, here XD the amv might be a bit of a mismash for sb, idk, but for me, it's great, I adore it, check it out.
