Hey everyone!  Here I am with Jojo season 2, episode 17!!!  OMG!!!  I was FUMING at the sight of Jojo getting beaten down the way he was in this ep!  I just love that every punch, every humiliation, he was keeping record of all of it to pay back in full!!!  I was also so proud of Kakyoin and Polnareff in this one for pulling off the extermination job in Joseph's head lol!  Dang, Kakyoin was on top of his game here!
And to think Steely Dan really thought he'd get a chance to escape and hurt someone else.....as if!!!!!!!  He got the beating he deserved!!!!  I couldn't be happier!

Fun Fact: I think it took 3.5 pages in manga for Jotaro to do the Ora punches, therefore, this event is well known as "3.5 page Ora". But this might not as famous as the other scene from part 5, which you don't see yet. So we have to wait until then.

Enya was a monster, but I don't know whether to be impressed or scared at her devotion to Dio. Dude literally sent someone to kill her, and she's just saying "DIO Rules, Joestars drool" with her final breath. ...I'd feel bad, but don't forget about what she did to that town with her stand. And that's not even mentioning her awful son. 🤣 So, this time around the movie was a reference to the 1986 film "Innerspace"... The villain in that movie was human though, so it's more the journey through Joseph's body that's referencing the movie. The stand itself honestly reminds me of a flea/tick version of the monster from "This Island Earth."... Doesn't help that the monster in the movie is like the insects we have on Earth (Only larger, of course!)... Also I feel like Steely Dan is dead after that beating. Like I'm entirely convinced his final scream of the episode was just the sound of the air finally escaping his body. 🤣

Hi Hime :) The funny thing is that I follow a Vtuber who reacts to Jojo too, she is from India and has traveled to these regions before and she described how it was to negotiate, before it happened in the series. Even the "I have a family to feed" thing, she had predicted before he said it. It is a demonstration that what Araki describes is generally based on truth and even more on experience, whether it is his own or that of people he has interviewed. The lover is the definition that strength is not synonymous with victory, this stand is considered the weakest, but alone against him and you have almost no chance. I like the fact that you have become enough of a jojo fan that you react as the author wants, namely wishing that the antagonists suffered after seeing them act lol. It will not be the last in this case and very often the reward is up to par. Araki is good at writing characters you'll love and love to hate. The reference would rather be "Innerspace" than the magic school bus, but I see your point of view (being a cartoon lover). Could also be a reference to "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids", since The Lover looks quite insect-like. A person can only have one stand... Another phrase from Kakoyin that has aged badly... Because later, and this is a slight spoiler, but you will encounter stands that are made up of several individuals. We always consider it as "one" stand, but in the end, a stand can be multiple. And if I said "one more", it's because I mentioned the fact that it was ironic that Kakoyin does not believe in the mirror world in the episode against J.Geil / Centerfold, and you will soon know why.

Just when he thought he had them PEGged, They launched into a very "LOGICAL SONG." And just as he was about to DO IT AGAIN, Kakyoin started REELIN' IN THE YEARS! Finally Jotaro beat him so badly Steely Dan had to TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME. Ora Ora indeed (Always a bummer when such an awesome band is represented by such a goober though, were he not such a goober I may have put more effort into these song references haha)

I would say a lot of these “Part 2” episodes start with the theme immediately because they’re in the middle of the story, so it’s not really an ominous sign - more of, we ran out of time, let’s get the intro over with so we can pick up in the middle of where we left off. Okay there’s villainy, and then there’s just plain HAMMING IT UP, and I’m pretty sure Dan falls into the latter category. At some point you kind of realize the show’s trying just a little bit TOO much to make you dislike this character and when Jotaro revealed he was keeping a list it’s like… this is going to be fun when we get to pay it off. 😈 The Stand’s pretty creepy especially when it kept multiplying… I sometimes wonder if you have trouble sleeping on nights after you film these episodes? 😆 Also, don’t apologize for the bloodlust - most of us find the rage rather hilariously entertaining because we know what you’re usually like. We’re just out here making popcorn. Okay but seriously, can we stop having battles inside Joseph’s nervous system? It’s kind of becoming a trope at this point… 👀 There’s some housekeeping I should apprise you of: the next episode is a stand-alone, but after that it’s going to be nothing but two parters for a while. So I have a suggestion for you next week: you don’t currently have anything slated for Monday, so it might be a good idea to upload just Ep 18 of Jojo on that day and then produce 19-20 on Wednesday, which are two parts of the same story arc, and after that you’ll be on schedule through the rest of this part of the season at least. Just one idea on how you can get the schedule balanced again. 😁 Don’t worry, there’s plenty more to make you squirm on the way. That’s never a problem!

That ending was satisfying as ever! 👊 😠 I really thought that guy was the scum of the Earth but I down graded my opinion at the end there. Man I love that Hamon saved Joseph here and that it’s still a thing in a world of all these stands. I find that poetic in a way. Kakyoin the MVP here and Polnareff really warmed my heart today. He took hits and didn’t want to leave Mr. Joestar in his time of need. Everyone really shined here.

Hi Melissa, thanks for your reaction as always. I'm glad you're enjoying Jojo. It is really a very special anime that stands out from others. The lovers episodes can drive you crazy, because Steely Dan is so unbearable. I've been waiting for his punishment just like you. From those episodes on I really loved Jotaro. I had some trouble liking him at first, but he was so badass in those episodes that you just have to love him. Tomorrow I will write my first exams for this semester. Your reactions are the only bright spots for the next 2 weeks.😊

OH, but yesh. Part III, Stardust Crusaders, has two seasons. I said it before, but we went from having two Jojo parts in one season to having one Jojo Part in TWO seasons. 🤣 After Part 3, the pace evens out to pretty much around a season and a half worth of episodes per Part.

I know!!!!! Seriously, as if we couldn't like him any less right lol. I LOVE it when Joseph uses Hamon!!! It's weird, the little things that get you nostalgic and pumped on this show haha. It's very poetic! Yes, they killed it!!! Everyone truly got a chance to shine!!

Seriously! Even after all that, she spent her dying breath to swear loyalty. It's messed up but kind of impressive too. Oh yeah, like no one deserves to go out like that, but feeling bad for her doesn't quite fit either lol. Ohhh good to know about Innerspace! And interesting about This Island Earth. I agree, it has a very 50s B-movie vibe! It just had to be a bug didn't it lol. Yeah, I mean, he's probably dead....and that's probably a good thing :P As awful and violent as that may sound lol!

Ohhh good call about the theme! I still like to speculate, it keeps things interesting :P Hahahaha Steely Dan was like RIDICULOUSLY hateable!!! Once the list came out my bloodlust just went off the charts hahaha. You know, I probably should have trouble sleeping after these eps, the fact that I don't says more about me I guess LOL. OMG seriously, STOP GOING INSIDE JOSEPH ALREADY!!!! Poor Joseph!!! Leave his insides alone! Ohhh cool, thanks for reminding me, I knew I had to get back on track with the even-numbered pairs eventually! There's a few villains in this part that end up getting defeated so hard that it's impossible to believe they could possibly be alive. There's one in particular that I know for SURE you're going to be like: "They're dead! They're dead. -Subtitle says 'Retired'.- Oh no, I think you mean 'dead', Mr. subtitle." 😂

Oh you won't... ...Unless if you read a certain a spin-off manga where they show up(alive AND well) for just a split-second cameo. 🤣 I'll have to wait until I can talk more about that, buuuuuuuuut it's a recent and on-going spin-off that's an interquel between Part 3 and 4. It's not drawn and written by Araki, but it's an official spin-off. I'll tell you more about it as soon as we see a certain character in action....Though that'll be close to the end of Part 3, so I may or may not wait until after Part 3 all together to share that info.

An alternate universe during parts after 3 of mine, with a scenario that often I've seen in fics but I haven't seen that done icly (in character) for my liking, so I've decided to take a stab for it and see if I fail to my liking, too, or not: what if Jotaro gave some dioblood not only to Joseph but to dead Kakyoin, too? And Kakyoin has no hamon training, so it's not like he can just be fine and not-vampire like Joseph, who simply expelled any not his own dioblood with hamon on instinct. So, AU, not as miserable as it sounds but not as sugary sweet as some fics make it sound, so, heh, safe for you to read, here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54783001/chapters/138850276 (please read, I've only written five chapters so far and only published prologue so far and am scared of making other mistakes simply because I'm doing something 180% different for fics of the premise that I've seen and judged ooc.
