Hey everyone!  I'm back with part 1 of the finale of Attack on Titan!  WOW!!!!  We are truly at the end of the road here, aren't we...!  I knew we weren't gonna make it through this without some loss, but good lord, I was not ready for what happened in this ep.  All things considered though, what an exit!!  Complete with waking up with friends on the other side - MY HEART CANNOT!!!!  And watching our crew try and come to terms with what all this could mean about Eren was interesting.  I honestly have no clue where his actual head/heart are at this point, but he's not stopping and he's basically gonna force his friends to take him out, so do with that what you will.  The moments like Annie and Armin (my little man found love, omg!!), Reiner and Connie, etc. were just epic.  And watching everyone at the end realizing that giving up on hate is the right choice - well, it makes me wonder if this isn't what the point in everything really was, but maybe that's giving Eren too much credit, I really don't know anymore.  Anywho, what a gut wrenching part 1 to this finale!  Cannot wait to see the very last one!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Haven’t been able to watch yet. Loading problems probably because everyone is wanting to see this. But just from the write up you put. Yes. Annie Armin is a thing and I’m thrilled. Everything else was just pain. And I throw this at you every so often but gotta do this again. Throw in My Dress up Darling somewhere. You need some feel good after all these heart punches

Well, I HAVE seen you turn into a puddle of emotions BEFORE… but getting completely destroyed before we’re ten minutes into the show…? That’s gotta be some kind of record, isn’t it? Usually they at least give you a chance to balance first… 😅 Let’s start with the beginning… the first thing that was shown was a scene similar to the very first scene of the series - I don’t know if it was taken verbatim or not though. The point here bring: how’d all this start? There’s a quote Grisha told Zeke and I’m taking liberties, from last season: “I knew what Eren was going to do, but I had no idea it would be so terrible!” - this was after he looked into the future. Which brings me to Eren’s flashback - he’s carrying his own burden because he’s also seen these memories of what’s coming. He knows it’s coming. And no matter what he does, it doesn’t change. (Since I’m a little over halfway through Kamen Rider Saber right now, I’ll just say there’s an individual on that show he might be able to “compare notes” with. You know.) There’s another interesting shot, while Eren is regretful this HAS to happen and he can’t stop it, during the Rumbling, we see shots of people jeopardizing everyone else’s safety for the sake of their own survival. That’s kind of telling, isn’t it? The whole reason this is happening is nobody ever bothered to stop and think about anyone else felt - it was all about what was good for them. Okay, let’s discuss the Armin / Annie thing - yeah, it’s nice on the surface and all. Look at you, watching your son bring his crush home. But there’s a question lingering here: IS that really Armin’s own feelings? Or is Bertholdt’s emotions still influencing him? Because he also had similar thoughts. The biggest theme on this episode seems to be regret. Regret for actions forced, actins not taken, and the consequences that have led to the current situation. Well, I hate to say it, but you were right - Floch was crazy enough to cause one more problem before going out. Just our luck, right? Like everyone else, all his actions are motivated by what’s good for him. You know, when you said “blaze of glory…” - you are aware the walls have ears here, right? Think you hit that a little TOO on the nose. But Hange at least got to choose how to exit - a luxury that is seldom afforded to people on this show. You have to at least give her that freedom. It is definitely interesting that Eren isn’t controlling the other Titans, and while they’re wondering if it’s a cry for help, something clicked while they were in the other realm trying to talk him down. This might not be Eren’s will, either. It’s definitely his DOING - but why then, does Ymir show up in the kid’s eye at the start before he’s crushed and why is she standing next to him here? So apparently taking out Zeke is the key who seems to be under Eren’s influence. Which of course means Levi has to be involved. Annie said she had to swallow all sorts of things as the Female Titan which might meant- she could replicate abilities from another Titan, perhaps? Is that what the kids were theorizing? The speech at the fort finally woke people up to how they got into this mess in the first place but is it too late? Armin might’ve hit it on the nose when he asked Eren if he really was free… he might be at the mercy of Ymir’s will. It’s possible. On a side note they just did the Crunchyroll awards and Eren was voted best main character. Which caused me to think a little. I don’t know if we should call him best, but he’s certainly one of the most hotly debated and exercises a lot of discussion. If we tried to (apologies, Dr. Gray) psycho analyze him we’d be here until the next special drops. I’ll stop now, after all that, I’m guessing you probably got pretty dehydrated. 😂 PS: this might be the longest drawn out season of anime ever? I mean they’ve dragged it over three years at this point… You’d know better than me but still… 👀

Now i get to write this twice because my browser froze, lol. SO, around 3x17 i told you i hated Floch and i'd tell you why once it got to a certain point. Hange is my favorite character and by Floch shooting the fuel tank it's his fault she had to stay behind. I think i had just gotten to that part of the manga around that part. But yea, I loved Hange because she was weird but brilliant, brave, and... ever so slightly insane but she stayed that way until the end. The only Solace is that Hange was the only one to get a special scene in heaven, which takes the sting off just a tiny bit. So i made a geek observation. When hange gets too close and is on fire she explodes which makes sense since ODM gear uses pressurized gas. So... back in 3x17 when Armin holds on to the colossal titan to give Eren time, shouldn't his tanks have exploded as well? Yes, 'I'm looking WAY to far into this but i thought it was interesting,

Hope you're able to watch it by now, let me know if you aren't! Annie/Armin, I gotta admit I don't *not* ship it!!! It was nice to have something cute in there while they dragged us through the mud emotionally (in the best way possible of course). I'm hearing so much about My Dress Up Darling!!!! It would definitely help with the more dramatic shows haha, thanks!

Lol oh no, sorry about that! Ohhhh so that's who you meant, got it! Losing Hange was so tough yet somehow this ending was so fitting for her. On a show like this, giving us the heaven scene was probably the nicest thing they've ever done for us LOL. Ohhh I hadn't thought about that with the ODM gear! Hmmm! Little plot hole perhaps.

Right, it's almost like Eren is locked into this too, in a weird way, and OMG how are you liking Saber? I know just who you mean XD That's actually a really good point that the self-serving behavior that we see is what got us here in the first place! That's actually a good point about Bertholdt, maybe a little of both perhaps?? And I know, I get to see my little man with his first girlfriend, squeeeee!!! What a proud mommy I am!!! Lol. Regret is at the heart of all of this. Freaking Floch!!!!!!!!! Hahahhaha I cannot BELIEVE I would use those exact words before something like that happened, like what kind of dark wizard do I have to be to do that?!?!!? She went out in a way that was fitting to her, still though. Yeah that's a good point about Ymir, what if she's controlling Eren at this point and just wants to destroy the world? The ultimate showdown, Levi vs. Zeke!!! I feel like that's kinda what the kids were onto, that maybe they could tap into other Titans. I really hope it's not too late, the speech was great :D Armin's line about being free makes sense with the Ymir theory as well. I think Eren is probably the most complex main character I've ever seen! Dr. Gray would have a field day :P Hahahaha don't worry, I'm replenishing with lots of water and candy and hugs from my dog, I'll be ok! OMG seriously, they're reaching Naruto levels of dragging this out hahha (not really but still)!!!

Haven’t tried it again this morning but about to. And honestly I feel like the Annie Armin thing was a little bone throw. “Here’s something nice before we hurt you repeatedly” lol. And noticed you seem to gravitate toward the punch in the heart animes. A little wholesome fanservice would might make for a break and give you time to restock on tissues 😜

Ok. First. Did you stop crying at all in this? I honestly don’t think you did. Even when you were jamming to the fight music. Also I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing but I think it has to do with the fact I’ve watched you react to this show for a very long time all the way back when I stumbled on you on YouTube, but you reacted exactly as I imagined you would. To start out think you’ve realized I’m a shipper at heart. And I honestly shipped Annie and Armin for a long time but never thought I’d actually see it. I started shipping them after an abridge series on YouTube called Smack On Titan. In it Armin is very much crazy and he falls in love with the Female Titan, and when he leads Jean and Reiner to her they play it off he’s offering them as sacrifices to his queen. He’s that crazy there. I thought it was historical and oddly enduring and after watching that and rewatching the first season I started to pay attention to little things. A lot of people put Armin’s feelings toward Annie as from him absorbing Bert’s when he took his Titan power. But if you look back at season 1. Armin is often seen standing by her. And when they confront her, not only on Armin’s side it seems like he doesn’t want to be right. And also look at Annie’s. She was one of the most guarded of the Warriors and she let her guard down for him, literally walked into a trap. If any of the others had tried to lead her there I honestly don’t think it would have worked. Romantic wise there? That is a major stretch. Bond and friendship and a trust? I think there was something between those two. And his own budding teenage feelings for the cute little blond badass mixed with Bert’s feelings and your poor boy didn’t stand a chance. He was wrapped around Annie’s pinky without her even trying. And there’s a few more cute little bits with them coming along. As a manga reader no spoilers as you know I hate spoilers and I love seeing your reactions. but going into the next part I just want to remind you of a key thing to keep in mind from the past. Just have it in your mind … in the last episode of season 2, Eren made Mikasa a promise. I won’t say how. But that will come back up. When I read the manga’s ending I think I put you to shame crying. But I will say also as his art style isn’t exactly the best I don’t think anyone is 100% clear on what all actually happens in the end and think especially we manga readers are hoping for more clarity with the anime. So even IF you stumble upon spoilers which I really really hope you don’t, but a lot of the ending spoilers out there are speculative to each reader due to the less than stellar art style. But you will cry. Have tissues. I’ve been with you since almost the beginning of the Titan journey. Kinda cool to see it through here. Also I’m going to link you to a cover of the song from season 1 in the dm by Amalee I listened to it when I read Hange’s death scene in the manga as well as another certain scene at the end. I know it’s a long shot but it would be a shame if they didn’t use it or a variation of it at some point in the final. And a final note, back to My Dress Up Darling if you were to watch it in the near future it would be great. You and the female lead have very similar hair and hair color right now. Until next time!

Interesting about Smack on Titan, and you make some interesting points about Annie and Armin! I don't doubt that there's some influence from Berthold there, seems like it was just a perfect storm when it comes to their feelings. I'm so happy there's more coming lol. Oooh curious about the promise, I can't wait to see how things play out in the finale! Interesting about the ambiguity of the ending, I try really really hard to avoid any spoilers, but it's good to know that out of context they probably wouldn't even be an issue lol. Omg, I know I'm gonna cry so much!!!! I don't blame you a bit for crying if it's as emotional as I expect it to be! I'm listening to the song now, it's beautiful!!!! I love Ama Lee!!! You must have been a mess reading Hange's death scene listening to this! Oh no kidding about the lead character's hair in My Dress Up Darling!!! :) Hehe!

You can find smack on Titan on YouTube. It’s hysterical and oddly I find their portrayal of Eren and Mikasa with oddly more character than the canon show and Crazy Armin is the best things ever abridged since Team 4 Star’s dragon ball z. And yes it didn’t jump at me till this episode but the way you have your hair is a lot like Marin in My Dress Up Darling. She’s a blond with pink tips and wears it a lot like you have yours. I love Ama Lee too. (Actually got her autograph last year 😁) Also fun fact while I know you usually do sub titles, Marin’s voice actor is Ama Lee in the English dub and you can tell she has a lot of fun with the roll. One of the few Dubs I think is as good as the sub. I can’t sing it’s praises enough. Also a thought I’ve had usually I watch whatever before I go to reactions. But I’m thinking about watching the final of the final of the final when it finally comes out (this might be the only time I can say that lol) you got me back into this anime, might as well hurt with you when it hits lol.

I feel like it's been recommended to me before! No kidding about the hair, that's so cool! I was going for anime girl hair, good to know I've succeeded! ^_^ That's amazing, I can't believe you got to meet her and get her autograph! So cool that she voices one of the characters too, I'm actually tempted to watch dub just for that reason lol. Love that she's doing voice acting too! Ama Lee was such a kind and sweet girl. And so very talented! I know I have recommended the show and I’m sure I’m not the only one. It’s easily my favorite of 2022 and I don’t even typically like slice of life style shows. It’s just a very well done series. And again, after an hour and seventeen minutes of crying your eyes out, a little feel good anime wouldn’t hurt 😜. And I’m looking forward to seeing Titan through with you too!
