Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to episode 1 of the third season of The Mandalorian!!!!  WOW what a way to kick things off!!  Mando's on quite an epic quest, and I love that it takes him into the path of a few old friends!  Glad to see Navarro is doing well, but you know we're not done with the pirates!!  I was happy but also sad to see Bo Katan's current state....I hate seeing her this way!  Our dynamic duo is back together and we've set up quite a few fun plot points to explore this season!!!  Can't wait!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I get a little concerned for you during these reactions, because every time Grogu pops on screen you’re like “SQUIRREL!” 😂 That aside, first scene was kind of a throw-off because for about a minute or two I was also wondering whether or not this was a flashback until our duo showed up. You may not have picked up on this but other than the Armorer, one of the other principal Mandalorian characters in that scene was Paz Viszla. I watch with subtitles on just in case, so they tell me this stuff. That in itself isn’t the biggest thing, but… that particular family name has some significance now, does it not? Seems like being a High Magistrate serves Greef. Nevarro looks like a place in Star Wars that’s actually livable now. And the dregs of scum and villainy don’t actually have as much influence as they used to. I was thinking the same thing you were, and while it wasn’t HIM, those pirates did look like they could be part of his crew at some point or another. The whole scene with IG-11 is telling. Remember Djin didn’t use to trust droids AT ALL. (Speaking of droids there was no Chopper in the logo.) But he trusts this one. At least until it went all Skynet on him… that really did look like a Terminator reference. Also, when did Djin start telling Yang jokes? Is it just me or is it almost like because we’ve seen this and RvB so much now we never really think about the fact we can’t see their faces anymore? 😂 The pirate leader’s name is Gorian Shard, and with a design like that, and that much emphasis on him, you know we’re not done with THAT storyline yet. As for Bo-Katan, the only thing I really thought of was “I’m brooding about everything right now, I’ll come back when the plot needs me to snap out of it. Until then, leave me alone!” 😂 This is the way. By the way, Grogu got into your fridge while you read all this. Hope that pizza wasn’t something you were saving for later! 👀

Was this the best episode of Mando ever? No. Did I have a massive smile on my face throughout it? You bet ya! Its good to have it back! :D When Mando flew in to save the day at the start, as he turned around, he should have said "Hello there!" :D Was half-expecting to see a silhouette of a certain pesky Loth-rat, riding that giant Purgil! Good to see Navarro thriving, and "High" Magistrate Greef Karga back looking like a legend with his glorious cape that needed tiny droids to hold up! Lando would be jealous! Grogu hasn't changed, he's still the mischevious little tyke. Force spinning a chair again and again, and grabbing things he likes like that little guy who was the same species as a beloved little character from Rise Of Skywalker (the name escapes me currently). I can't believe the pirate antagonist is actually called Vane! For anyone into the history of piracy like myself, one of the legendary pirates was a Charles Vane and this numbskull is obviously named after him! :D I kind of don't want to see Hondo in live action as I feel he'd be best suited to animation. Love the look of the moss-man pirate boss though, so cool and a great design! Poor Bo-Katan is in a sulk and who can blame her after all she's been through. If Mando can somehow bring together his bunch of zealots, and get Bo-Katan and all the influence she wields, on board; then he deserves to become The Mandalore, and I say this as someone whose favourite Mandalorian is Bo-Katan, who was leader of her people in the eyes of many for decades.

This is a great first episode back. Very cool and heartwarming imo that they’re bringing the first droid back. I love it! Man everything and everyone looks fantastic! They’re really pulling off a lot of tricks on to this show. I’m amazed! Has Grogu gotten cuter? He looks cute in his little robe, spinning in his chair, cuddling up to papa, attempting to eat another life form. He’s just so adorable. I also loved the population growth of the Mandalore. And Mando was not lying when he said he’d make place thrive! I want so desperately for them to just live life there instead of lifting up the exile but you know what they say… This is the way.

I know, I love it!!! They're killing it with the visuals right! OMG I know, I was thinking the same thing about Grogu, he's even cuter somehow!! I know, I was happy they're adding people to their group. Mando was right! Yeah, I know....thisis the way!!!! Sighs lol.

I agree, it was a fun ride! Hahahaha I would have died INSTANTLY if he'd said hello there! I already almost died when he said wizard that one time! :P OMG, the Purgill!!! Hahaha the Loth-cat would have been a nice touch! I aspire to one day have a cape that tiny droids need to hold up for me :P Agreed that it's nice to see Navarro doing well! Grogu's up to his usual shenanigans, sweet baby!!! Oh yes, I learned after that it was Babu Frik (sp?), I recognized him but couldn't place where he was from. I know, I hate seeing her this way! I wish Sabine was here to talk her out of it! But true, if Mando can pull all that off, maybe he should be leader!!!

Oh yeah, not sure where you are in Clone Wars, but you know from Rebels that Viszla is a pretty important name! I recognized our Vizsla friend from Boba Fett too (can't remember if he was around before that). I know, Nevarro is looking good, os is Greef! Right, his relationship with IG-11 is a big deal!! LOL it was a total Terminator moment! HAHAHA loved the pun! I know, RvB has taken away my need or want to ever see a face again at this point :P Oh yeah, there's no way they'd put in THAT much work on the character design for just a few minutes of footage! Lol poor Bo-Katan! I do hope she snaps out of it though. Where's Sabine when you need her??? (Probably off looking for a certain someone actually lol.) Thisis the way!!!! By Loth-rat I meant Ezra haha. Its nice to introduce them into live action for later, but those of us - including yourself now (yay!) - in the know, are awaiting seeing him back. :) Yes Babu Frik is the fella! That scene just made me feel like a giant kid again, just a guy in a mask, in a tiny room, speaking to a bunch of puppets - love it! :D Oh yes, the fire thats inside Bo-Katan is at its embers just now, but I don't think it will take much to reignite and produce an inferno once more. She'll be back kicking ass, but whose? Looking forward to finding out and seeing what the rest of the season is going to produce, especially since I'm going into this completely in the dark about story on this one!

I hadn’t realised you had started The Mandalorian, Mel. I take it season 2 of Bad Batch is on hold whilst you watch this? Anyway, I absolutely love the artwork you get at the end of these episodes - and this episode was no exception. Somehow the artwork and the music go together really well. Is stealing sweets a sign of a force wielder turning to the dark side? 😁 Anyway, I can’t think of a better use for the force than to grab sweets! Speaking of sweet treats: seeing the purgil in hyperspace made my day. I haven’t seen the Boba Fett series yet, but I think Grogu was wearing his The Lord of the Rings ‘mithril’ coat of chain mail he received in the Boba Fett series? Which means I am currently not sure of how this all fits together time wise in the Star Wars Universe. A good episode!

OHHH I honestly thought you meant Loth-Cat and it got autocorrect hahaha!!! But yeah, that would have been even more of a sight to see! Can't wait for our boy's return for sure!!!!! Omg, that's so true, it was a guy in a room full of puppets wasn't it??? I was so immersed that it didn't even occur to me lol, but there's something really fun, nostalgic and whimsical about that for sure! I can't wait to see Bo-Katan back in action, but good point that it remains to be seen who she'll be after once she gets that spark back! I hear you, I can't wait either!!! Should be fun!

Oh sorry! I never really made an official announcement about it, which was probably not good planning on my part lol, but I figured I'd watch Mandalorian and then Bad Batch season 2! The artwork is gorgeous, isn't it? It does go quite well with the music. Hahaha well you know the saying, "Come to the Dark Side, we have cookies".....so maybe stealing sweets really is a first step??? :P But yeah, I can't think of a better way to use the Force either!!! Oh, I think you'd enjoy this story even more if you saw the Mandalorian tie-ins of Book of Boba Fett! Good call on the chainmail! That would definitely be where he got it from. Fun ep, yay!

Tbf that would work for Loth-Cat, but it was more a reference to what Kanan calls Ezra in the pilot episode, a "street-rat" and I made a pun on it, which failed, haha! :D I believe Grogu is an animatronic and cost about $5 million to make and get working. The rest are definitely puppets though with operators running them under the set table, just like back in the day with Yoda in Empire, or Jabba (who needed 9 operators to run him!!!). All this could be done with CGI these days, but there is something about old school puppetry, thats charming and just makes you smile.

LOL it was actual a really great and clever reference, I just went automatically to cats like I often do! :P Whoa, that's one expensive baby! How awesome is that, that these are old school puppets! I definitely couldn't picture it with just CGI, I'm so glad they went this route!!!

There were so many surprises this episode. We actually have to see how Foundlings are initiated, then there was the giant crocodile! I was blown away when they had the Purgill silhouette! Only us Rebels get it! It definitely feels like time is passing that we’re not fully aware of, cause Navarro changed a ton in just two seasons. I never expected them to bring IG-11 back but I’m not complaining, though it’s a bit convenient that almost his whole upper half survived his self destruct. And the pirate captain was so cool! He was covered in plants or something.

I know!!! So much going on!!! THE PURGILL!!! Us Rebels fans know ;) That's true, we may have had a little time jump at this point. It is lucky that so much of IG-11 survived, but I hear you, I'm not complaining either! The pirate captain was awesome, I adore that design and all the detail!!!
