Hey everyone!  Here I am with Jojo season 2, episode 7!!!  YOU GUYS, WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK THOUGH!!!!!!  This one was soooooo disturbing lol, sheesh!  First off, I can't believe my lucky guess about the ship!  Second....that is one EVIL MONKEY :O
On a positive note, I was super proud of Jotaro in this one, he was my friggin hero for busting in to help Anne when he did!  It's also a really interesting look at all the ways a Stand can really work.  And apparently animals can have Stands too, who knew!!!  Phew, that was maybe a little too bizarre you guys!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

So there's going to be a few stands whose powers might seem particularly familiar if you're familiar with certain horror movies... Can you spot the horror movie references? ;D For today's episode there's Strength, which the stand is pretty much a reference to an old Horror Movie, Ghost Ship. However there might actually be TWO horror movie references in this episode with the User. There's a movie called 'Link' which is a horror movie about a smarter-than-average chimp who's also just as sinister. Personally I made the connection between Jojo and this Movie when the AVGN described a certain scene when talking about the movie, how the chimp in the movie enters the bathroom while a woman was taking a bath, and it's a tense scene where the monkey just **STARES** at the woman for an uncomfortable amount of time. ...Of course while the monkey in the movie is a Chimp... There's the fact that the 'Chimp' was actually played by AN ORANGUTANG. O: The Orangutan in Jojo never had his name said in the series, it's only later that Araki named him "Forever" after "Wu-Tang Forever", which is obviously a Wu-Tang Clan album. 🤣 ...Oh! Btw, this encounter was featured in the Stardust Crusader OVA that was released in 2000... However they combined this encounter with the introduction of Polneraff!

“So, all this weird stuff going on, am I supposed to recoil, or just say ‘It’s Jojo?’” Us: We think you already know the answer. DIO’s conversation with Enyaba seems to be almost as much about justifying his own actions against the Joestars as it is pondering what life is. Of course, no matter who you are, if you’re an immortal being, you’re going to think about the subject. In some ways, it almost sounds like he’s trying to convince himself what he’s doing is a formality, and not something else. “Is the ship a Stand?” Me (spits out drink): How’d she get that so fast? Also. Rule of thumb on this show, guess weird. You remember when I said you hadn’t seen the more creative Stands yet… well, now you know why… That poor girl is never going to take a shower again, though. I think Jotaro is spot on when he said the ape was primitive - when you think about everything else it was doing other than the ship thing it was directly tied to a primal urge of some sort. Although it did pick up on sone rather disturbing human habits while it was still in the cage. I’m not an expert but running around a ghost ship in nothing but a towel while being ogled by a orangutan doesn’t sound like a really good time… oh wait. That’s not even the strangest thing that’s happened to date. You have no idea the kind of trouble you’ve gotten yourself into. 😁 Maybe part of the reason Jotaro likes the girl is she’s not fawning all over him? Anyway, there’s many miles to go on this journey so I’m gonna stop monkeying around here and go to the next episode. 😎

Is Enyaba supposed to be Enya? Anyways this one was disturbing, creepy and unsettling. First off did they really have to show that much? I wanted to yell so bad to cover up geez. Eek 🤭

WHOA!!! I did not spot any of those references, and I'm ashamed because I religiously watch AVGN's Cinnemasacre's Monster Madness each Halloween!! :O The pop culture references were subtle this time but definitely clever! Oh no kidding, that's interesting that they combined this and Polneraff's intro in the OVA!! Thanks for all the info!

kamenriderhime

I just saw in another comment that it is supposed to be Enya!!!! Good call! Yeah seriously, I wanted to throw that girl a towel through the screen so bad!!! Sheesh!!!

LOL shrugs, guess that's Jojo :P Hmm, that's interesting about Dio, although I think he'd be lying to imply this wasn't personal. Hahahahahah RIGHT?! How on earth was I right?! Yeah, we always seem to stay on the weirder side of things on this show. Lol yeah I hadn't seen nothing yet, you were right! OMG that poor dear is gonna take sponge baths for the rest of her life! That's a good point about the "primal" instincts of the orangutan. It basically picked up on the worst of humanity somehow though lol, sheesh. OMG the fact that this is still not the weirdest thing that's happened (or to happen in the future, I presume) really says something about this show!!! LOL go on and move to the next ep while I finish going bananas over how disturbing this ep was :P

Honestly if AVGN didn't point out the bath scene, I probably wouldn't have made the connection either. xD You'll have a chance at being able to spot some future horror movie references though, it just starts off with a bit of a curve ball. o:

That's awesome that he does such detailed analyses isn't it?! Love watching him! I can't wait to see more references haha!!!
