Hey everyone!  Here I am with Red vs. Blue, season 11, eps 16 - 19!  OMG!!!!  I never would have guessed that our crew were revered as the galaxy's greatest heroes and were being recruited for a civil war, but here we are!!!  Gotta say, it's giving some real Star Wars vibes and I like it!  The action sequence was fantastic and everyone got a moment to shine, even Donut!  But wow, the way that ended....our leaders captured, everything uncertain, and basically our only option is to not only fight in this war, but our crew, OUR CREW, is gonna train a bunch of young soldiers...?!?!!?
This should be interesting!  Also WHAT THAT ACTUAL HECK about that end credits scene?!?!!?!?!?!?  Carolina?!!?!  Why?!!?!?  What a twist!!!!  Great eps and great season, can't wait for 12!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

The name Chorus is probably very familiar from the comments at this point, because Seasons 11-13 are referred to as the Chorus Trilogy. Unless its from Halo 4, which I didn't play and had just come out when this was released, it isn't actually from Halo originally. But I'm pretty sure it's original to RvB. There are a lot of far flung vulnerable colonies and separatist groups in Halo, and it's not much of a stretch to create one more. The UNSC was halfway to a military dictatorship before the war with the Covenant, and the war pushed them over the edge. That's a theme the show is currently borrowing. You may have noticed that there wasn't a single frame of outside animation this season, and very few visual edits. Most of which were Lopez's head. That's because Monty and every other animator in Rooster Teeth at the time were working on RWBY Season 1. Or possibly preparing for Season 2, I forget what came out when. I personally think Season 11 was kind of a bottle episode for the series. There's plot stuff here, but nothing too important. There's character stuff, but only Wash and Tucker show any real growth from it. I think you even mentioned it, all the status quo changes were in the last two episodes. I remember being kinda disappointed that we had stopped just as something started to happen at the time. But I can't bring myself to dislike any season of RvB (except maybe Zero).

2023-04-25 11:01:04 Here's the thing Season 11 is good but it is easily the worst of the Chorus Trilogy. And at the time of its release, 11 was widely regarded as bad, but after a certain episode of Season 12 came out, people immediately went back to Season 11 and were like, damn this is actually pretty good. Seasons 12&13 (Depending on who you ask) contain 3-5 of the best episodes of RvB. And what many argue is the best villain of the series. So I cannot wait for you to get into Season 12.

Oh man this was before Lindsay married Michael. So the rebel leader Kimble is actually voiced by Ruby

Nicholas Schaeffer

Definitely a building season that much like season 4 of RWBY I feel like many didn't like at the time but once you get where its taking you it ages so well

Nicholas Schaeffer

Yeah I don't hate Zero but it tried to be season 9 without the comedy backdrop of seasons 1-5. You have to build why the misfits are on the elite team, that said I really like some of the concepts and I think if it had continued it to would have aged better

I would call this a little bit of a slow burn Season: the ball got rolling rather slowly but by the time it finished it was picking up quite a bit of steam. Andy was called during the season, and they got his voicemail, remember? Obviously there’s quite a bit going on here but it’s unclear what’s what at this time. The Star Wars crossover is down to the glowing sword and the white armored soldiers. It’s kind of a nod, b/c obviously a lot of them are fans. Vanessa Kimball is voiced by Lindsay (Ruby), but she sounds a lot more like her normal voice in this show. Also, now you know why it’s called The Chorus Trilogy, that’s the name of the planet they’re on. When you lose the people who have been leading you, what is the next move? They’ve been pretty laid back until now but now they’ve got to be responsible. Is the world ready? Also that end credits scene was being sat on for a year. Btw Burnie is still in the show he did a couple of flashbacks with Church this year and he’s also the voice for Lopez. Miles is just in charge now. Well, did we forget anyone important after this batch? Hmm… probably not. 🤔

Please edit this comment if you can, it kind of gives away a little too much.

Manny

Wow our crew are revered in the whole galaxy as the greatest that’s . . . that’s surprising. I mean yay but wow. Godspeed on that rescue. 👊

Manny

I’m sorry our dudes? The same Donut, Caboose, Grif, Simmons, etc? Man did not see that coming. This is too much oh boy XD

kamenriderhime

Ohhhh yes that would be why then lol. I did noticed it looked different this season! I figured as much with everyone being busy with RWBY! I haven't seen season Zero yet so I'll have to see how I feel when I get there, but I hear you about appreciating all/most RvB even if some seasons are better than others! I liked that this one gave us a chance to take a breather from all the other stuff, and I'm excited for where it's all going!

kamenriderhime

Wow! Well if it's the worst then that's a good sign for the rest! Whoa, that makes me really excited for season 12! Nicholas, I see what you mean about this being a building season like season 4 of RWBY!

kamenriderhime

I agree, it takes its time with the build but it is going somewhere. Oh yeah I remember the voicemail, I just thought the credit was for this episode! I love the Star Wars nods lol! OMG, that's why she sounded familiar! Gotcha, that makes sense about the name. Omg, I know, it's a scary time for our friends, they've gotta take matters into their own hands! WHOA, that end credits scene was kept secret pretty well apparently! Oh ok, I couldn't tell if that was new footage of Church or sound bytes, good to know! Lol I get the feeling we're forgetting something....!

Brandon Dodge

I know not everyone loves this season, but it probably has my favorite conversations with Wash and Tucker, Wash and Caboose, Wash's "You have to try" with Kimball saying the same thing to Tucker. And now Tucker being put in Wash's place essentially. Of being a Leader. That moment with Wash and the drum beats of The Good Fight as Wash looks around really gave me Rebels Season 4 vibes lol I'm really looking forward to what you think of Season 12 as we fight in this Galactic Civil War (Gee that sounds familiar lol).

kamenriderhime

It has some awesome moments! I love that line too. OMG, I could totally see the Rebels vibes lol!! I can't wait for season 12!! Haha where have I heard all this before...hmmmm!!!

Radrage

Just a heads up, although there are no mini-series in the Chorus Trilogy, back in the day they actually released a few short videos that chronologically happen between seasons 11 and 12. As far as I know, they were only released on their website and most people didn't even know they existed. Recently though, they did a ,,remake'' of those and put it on youtube as one video. They are not super important or vital to the story, but I still think they are fun to watch. If you want to also react to those, the video is called ,,Red vs. Blue | Journal Entries 001 - 003". For some reason, they didn't include the last one, called Journal Entry 004, but it was unofficially posted on youtube by someone, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUMaeMGsCTA

Tyler Stobbe

Don’t worry - I’ve already made sure she got links to all four journal entries for next week’s video. 😁

kamenriderhime

Oh yay!! I can't wait to see them!! Thanks for the reminder Radrage and Tyler, thanks for assembling the playlist with such care as always!!!

Manny

What?! This is fun. It’s probably only because of the relaxed feel right after the previous season but I’ve been loving it

kamenriderhime

Yeah if this is like the not as good season of this trilogy according to most, that's really saying something because it's still a really good season!

2023-02-17 16:55:57 This is a great final set for the season and I love the reaction. I love Miles voice acting for Felix as well as the character’s more joking personality. It’s great to finally get information on what’s going on here. I also love the Star Wars vibes/comparison. It is crazy that they are known as heroes of the galaxy and even though it’s true the reputation they are getting is exaggerated when it fully comes to their skills. Washington being suspicious is very warranted but with everything Felix is saying he is trustworthy. The comedic timing of Felix accidentally saying freelancer instead of Mercenary was perfect. Seeing all the preparations for the battle really inspired confidence in their chances in contrast to what happens at the end of the season. It was interesting to learn more about Felix’s place in this conflict & why he is fighting. Also his more sarcastic humor is something I enjoy. The plan of the Lopez duo happened at a unfortunate time. The fact that I think there was a Spanish guitar playing during this scene is hilarious to me. Even though it was bad timing seeing Dos.0 go crazy was very entertaining. Before I forget Washington being back in his old armor was awesome to see. Also of course right when they had the most confidence is when everything starts to go wrong. One thing to learn is never say you and what army it never ends well LOL. I think the action was done well with how frantic it was as well as how often the tides were turning. Donut’s big moment was cool & really funny especially his not very good Spanish. I think my favorite part of the fight was definitely Tucker showing the results of training as well as his general skill at being a soldier. It was going so good until Locus decided to show how good he is his job which was crazy to see especially how fast & efficient he was. The best part was Wash choosing to sacrifice his escape to make sure as many people could escape and be safe as possible especially with his theme playing. Also I love that Freckles was very important in this battle. I feel so bad for Tucker not being able to save them and having to deal with that. Felix talking about war makes you think that he knows war. When I 1st watched this I already really liked Kimball although it was a little weird to know this was Lindsey’s normal speaking voice instead of the Ruby voice. I think her speech was compelling & inspiring. It’s nice to know the others are alive at least. I agree that it is interesting that they lost their leaders & need to be leaders themselves now. Also I don’t think you should sell Sarge short he can be a good leader when he needs to be LOL. Contact as a song is incredible especially the slower more melancholic instrumental. I love how it slowly builds to the faster paced part of the song. It feels like it’s about the new Republic trying to get help as well as maybe about war in general and I adore the chorus. Great thoughts/discussion at the end of the reaction. The season really got intense towards the end really great buildup. Awesome reaction & discussion. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Thanks!! Miles is awesome here! I'd say their reputation got a bit, erm, exaggerated lol. The freelancer line was amazing haha. It was interesting to get to know Felix a tiny bit better, I was enjoying him a lot at this point and still am! The Spanish guitar was such a nice touch lol! What a great scene! The old armor for Wash was a nice touch too. Hahaha yeah like you're just leaving yourself wide open with the you and what army line! I loved the action here and Donut's scene was incredible, so boss yet also goofy with him not speaking Spanish well! Yeah Tucker's work actually paid off! Locus is on another level for sure. Wash was amazing here! And Freckles!!! Poor Tucker. Lindsay's regular voice is SO different, I knew I could hear something in there but wow it really goes to show how much work she puts into the Ruby voice!!! The speech was great. Sarge can definitely pull through when he needs to, despite you know, being Sarge haha. Contact was great as well. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for being so awesome and supportive!!!!!!!!
