Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 4, episode 6 of REBELS!!!!  WHOA!!!!  LOTS of little Loth Kitties in this one!!  Not to mention the White Loth Cat and the LOTH WOLF!!!  Animal overload!!!  And just what's going on with these animals anyway???  The name uttered by the Loth Wolf....so it's here because of Kanan?!  I can't wait to know more!  Also this was a fun and VERY intense ep with lots of high flying action, evading Thrawn (because of course he showed up, because OF COURSE HE DID), etc.!!!  Cannot wait for more!  Great ep!  Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

The wolves are a great addition to the series: the inclusion of a beautiful mystical/ fantasy element that impacts on the direction and feel/ tone of the series considerably. And it’s not the last extra fantasy element to be inserted … Love the kitties too! Will watch these two episodes later today when I get a chance - something to really look forward too :-) Oh, and as you have surmised, this was one of the episodes where subtitles come in handy. There are some more, and your method of going back for a second look at the end of the reaction I think is a really good compromise. Based on your reaction to this and the last episode, I think you are going to really like the next episode :-) Also, love the music that comes with the wolf, and it’s even more meaningful knowing how all this plays out.

This new Elite variant of the TIE Defender is even more deadly now with its improvements. Guess who recommended them and was a test pilot for the ship? Vader himself. The little kitties are called Tooka's. They are named after Dave Filoni's late cat and were originally in a role-playing game back in the 80's before being brought into canon the first time during Ahsoka's on the run arc in Clone Wars. From then we've seen them in Mando, but they are most notable in Rebels here since we see them so much; and as such are known by most as Loth-cats. The white loth-cat was seen in the vision Ezra had about his parents when he found out their fate. Congratulations, you have just met the dumbest stormtroopers we've ever seen! They chase these cats for miles (one of them played by Filoni at that lol!), completely oblivious to the carnage Sabine and Ezra are doing to their base, by the very ship they were supposed to be guarding!! :D Ah we've met a Loth-wolf, I'm not going to say anything more about them just now, and let you see the story unfold for yourself; they are a fascinating addition to Star Wars and note when its got Sabine and Ezra on its back evading the search party, its reminiscent of a scene from Princess Mononoke. As Nick says though, these last episodes to the end of the series, can be counted as one long arc.

First thing I think of when this episode starts: oh boy, there’s going to be squealing. You can’t contain yourself around animals can you. :P I mentioned this last time, but Sabine and Ezra have a penchant for getting into the best and worst kind of trouble together. This time though Sabine is the one coming up with the mischief, which means a certain Jedi must be rubbing off on her. You knew Thrawn was going to show up because these guys can’t do anything the easy way. But it is concerning how easy it is for a novice to pilot that aircraft, although a principal character is always more competent than an extra. The Stormtroopers and the Loth-cats… who wins? Well, I think we have our answer… however, those two might not want to be in a hurry to return to base. Imagine how THAT conversation goes… Thrawn: Why did you desert your post? ST: I was attacked by a Loth-cat ST2: After you shot it. Thrawn: So you spent all this time chasing an animal instead of guarding my prototype? ST: …Do you ever wonder why we’re HERE? 😂 By the way Sabine is complaining about Ezra’s driving when she’s not wearing a seat belt… Also the wings detached because of the kill switch. I kind of wonder if Ezra’s “animal” connection is kind of an Avatar situation: the Empire is torching the planet and do the nature on the planet is… REBELLING? Also they sense good vibes from Ezra, or good intentions. Funny how the wolf ride kind of reminded me of something similar in How to Train Your Dragon, except, Sabine wasn’t awake. If Dume is referring to Kanan the wolf might have just reacted to seeing him running towards them. Follow the white Loth-cat… Follow the white rabbit? Good luck explaining this one, Ezra, Sabine was with you but I don’t think even she’d believe it. The plot thickens…

Love the theme that Kiner employs for the Loth-wolves. The use of the harp only adds to the mystic elements of them. Its a theme I tend to listen to a fair bit when browsing.

Manny

Cool episode. The wolf was interesting. It definitely gives off some kind of Avatar, spirit animal, how to train your dragon with a bit of something else in it, like the comments above suggest.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I think Ranga may have gotten Isikaied to Lothal. 😆

Yes the wolves are a nice touch! And the kitties!! Hope you loved my reactions!! Yes, I guessed as much about the subs! Ok, I can totally go back with the subs on if that works for everyone!! I'm good with that! Ohhh can't wait for the next one! The music was excellent! What a great idea to use the harp!!

kamenriderhime

Oof, you know it's not good if it came from Vader. AWWWWWW TOOKA!!! Soooo cute! I had no idea they has such a history and namesake!! They're definitely very prevalent here. Hahaha oh man, those stormtroopers were the worst! No kidding that one of them was Filoni, that's awesome!! Oooh, can't wait to see more about the LothWolf! I can see the Princess Mononoke vibes for sure. Wow, I have a feeling this long arc is gonna be interesting!

kamenriderhime

Hahahaha hey you knew what you were in for when you saw there were gonna be animals in this ep :P Hehe, so true about this particular duo and trouble! True about the principal character, but still suggests that these TIEs are particularly user friendly to be able to be flown this way! Of course Thrawn just had to go and show up! OMG!!! Those stormtroopers have got to be doing a lot of wondering why they're here :P All I could think of was RvB!!! Good point about no seat belt. And oh that's why the wings came off, got it! I could see this being an Avatar situation for sure, it does seem as if the nature is rebelling because of the Empire's actions! I could see the How to Train your Dragon reference too! Oh, is that what happened, the wolf saw Kanan coming?? Hahah oh yeah there is a similarity there huh, between the white cat and the white rabbit! The plot thickens indeed!!!

Saltire

It goes to places you won't believe, put it that way! :D

Saltire

Not for me Mel with the subs, I've been rewatching this season several times these last few weeks and apart from one or two places, you won't need them imho. Even then you could either go back like you did here if you are unsure, or just keep your force-abilities sharp when watching! :P

Saltire

I would suggest rewatching the opening few mins of this episode to get the AAAAHHHH's out of you, as you are going to be seeing kitty's and wolves a LOT! :P

Nick

“It goes to places you won't believe, put it that way! :D” That’s certainly one way of putting it. Given some episodes still to come, I am genuinely wondering how Mel is going to react.

kamenriderhime

Thanks Nick! And sounds good, Saltire, I think I like the going-back-after method the best!!! I better get more in tune with the Force I guess haha!

Nick

Very cool :-) Are you in the area of that big storm over the US/ Canada, Mel?

kamenriderhime

The eps were awesome, we were in some of the range of the storm, but honestly it wasn't bad at all, we just missed it I guess! The lights were flickering a bit during my reaction though haha, you'll see it on Monday!

Nick

I’m wondering whether Xander Budnick - that YouTuber I think I previously mentioned has gone out in the storm camping, as he does this in the Great Lakes area, and it looked to me that the storm would have been where he tends to go. He clearly loves being out in the cold and snow, and is well equipped, but prudence might have won out on this one, given how bad the conditions have been in places. Glad you liked the episodes (me too!!) - am looking forward to watching them with you on Monday :-)

kamenriderhime

Good question! It sounds like he knows what he's doing so if he did, hopefully all is well! Thanks so much, the new eps just went up this morning, woohoo!!! :D
