Hey everyone!  Here I am with Jojo season 1, episode 6!!!  Whoa, Jojo not only fought Blueford and defeated him by thinking fast, but he also set him free!!!  What a great moment!  I knew we'd come to have more in common with each other than we thought.  But dang guys, this other knight does not seem as kind!!!  Ick!  I was rooting for Poco so hard to get into that room, what a boss!!!  And speaking of bosses, could this be the end for Zeppeli??  I'd be bummed if it was, but we seem to be building things up that way...!!!!  Can't wait to find out!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Still processing so I'll start uploading another copy, sorry!!!

So Blueford is actually a name change. Blueford is actually Bruford(Named after Bill Bruford.), Tarukus is actually just Tarkus(Named after an Emerson, Lake and Palmer album.). Gotta love those names, it's like having a look at what was on Araki's Playlist at the time. 🤣

Hi Hime :) About the animation of the intro, the Kamikaze Douga studio, which had made Batman Ninja but also more recently, the episode "The Duel" of Star Wars vision, the one with the ronin. Walked on water with the hamon, like ninjas walked on water with chakra, I don't know if Kishimoto took his idea from Jojo, but in any case it reminds me of it. For musical references: Blueford or Bruford > Bill Bruford, British drummer who notably played in the groups King Crimson and... Yes. Tarkus > name of Emerson, Lake & Palmer's second album. Tonpetty > You got it right, Tom Petty the guitarist. Now for the cast: Blueford > Kenjiro Tsuda, whom you know for Overhaul in MHA, he plays Joker in Fire Force, Vesta in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, but especially my husbando Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen. Poco > Yumiko Kobayashi, she has done a lot of roles in Duel Master/Crayon Chin-san/Digimon type children's series, but you probably know Nawaki better, Tsunade's younger brother in Naruto or maybe Black Star from Soul Eater. Tarkus > Tetsu Inada is the voice of Endeavor in MHA, Gamagori in Kill La Kill, many voices in One Piece too. Blueford and his hair manipulation technique, will later be taken over by a female character (slight spoiler), if I mention this, it's because the female character in question, plus Sadako from The ring, are the two main inspirations for Palm of HxH. Speedwagon just warmed up Zepelli's arm with his body heat, but yeah, we're not going to blame you for saying that Speedwagon is "hot" lol. Pluck is an old word for courage. Basically, he wishes and conveys all his luck and courage to Jojo.

So anyway, I believe the word you’re looking for to describe Tarukus is “brutish,” cause he’s one of THOSE types of characters. Blueford finding peace and bequeathing “luck” to Jojo because of his “pluck” might have done lasting repercussions. It says something about Dio’s power that he’s able to raise such strong foes to deal with Jojo - so what then, is the extent of Dio’s power himself? This hit me while watching this… but Poco’s outfit looks seriously like Oscar Pine’s old outfit and now I’m trying to figure out if that was a coincidence or not… 👀👀 The chain death match situation kind of mirrors the push and pull that’s constantly been going on between Jojo and Dio - they keep reaching for something in the other’s possession but something always reacts from the other person. Interesting sidebar. And finally, Zeppeli went up the mountain to see Master Tonpetty and he received what he needed but he also was given heartbreaking news. I’ll see myself out! 😉

Manny

Definitely Tom Petty XD Also maybe Pluck as in Plucky, like spirited?

kamenriderhime

Ohhh no kidding! thanks for pointing it out! OHHHH wow I love that about the album reference, I like Emerson Lake and Palmer but sadly don't remember all their album names!!! You're so right, it's a sneak peek into the playlist!!!! Love it!

kamenriderhime

Yeah, that's a good way to describe him! Oh really, lasting repercussions? Hmm! I know, Dio's way more powerful than I originally gave him credit for! OMG!!!! I can totally see some Oscar in that outfit! Hmmmm, makes you wonder lol. Ohhhh that's very profound about the symbolism for Jojo and Dio's battle! Hahahaha let's just hope that after training with Tonpetty, Zeppeli doesn't fall, or should I say FREEFALL in this fight :P :P :P

Manny

Lol plucky is just a guess on my part. I honestly don't know hahaa

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Oh no kidding, that's awesome about the animation! I could see the references for sure. No kidding, I didn't even catch half those references to rocks stars!!!!!!! Ohhhhhh I thought that sounded like Nanami!!! Thanks for the info! Ohh maybe that's where I knew Poco from then! I thought he sounded like Gon lol. Oh wow, that's Endeavor, no kidding!! OHHHHHH that's awesome about the inspiration for Palm, I actually did think of her when I saw the hair lol! Oh okay, I had no clue what they were going for there with Speedwagon but I mean, it's not like his abs aren't hot. :P Ohhh thanks, I feel like I knew that about pluck, but it just didn't stand out to me in the moment. All I could think of was plucking eyebrows LOL!!!! Thanks :D

kamenriderhime

Lol that's okay, based on some other comments I think you're right! I was thinking of pluck the verb and not pluck/plucky as an adjective. Like plucking eyebrows or something hahaha

Senpai

I'm not super knowledgeable into western music, but I feel like it gets easier later to figure what what year or so Araki was working on the manga when certain names of bands/musicians/designers come up. 🤣 I mean you can look up release dates for the manga chapters, but that's not fun. >:

Manny

Awesome, I rule! Also haha plucking eyebrows 😆 🤣

2022-12-31 00:41:13 These episodes are great. The walking on water thing & as well as other uses Hamon are really cool. Luring them into a graveyard was unfortunately a smart trap. Thankfully most zombies stand no chance. Of course Dio chooses the highest place and the most dramatic way to appear thanks to his arrogance & confidence LOL. Although the moon in the background looks great. It’s unfortunate that Zeppeli was defeated quickly but it’s a great way to show how menacing & strong Dio is. I know it’s terrible but the line about how much bread you have eaten is so ridiculous/hammy I can’t help but laugh. It makes you wonder if he is so powerful because he was already intelligent or if his intelligence just helped him figure out his powers faster. I always enjoy the strategy behind the fighting even if it is out there/ridiculous at times. I will never get tired of the way Dio’s voice actor says JoJo. Bruford has a good design & hair powers are always cool. I believe the history is a combination of real history & fiction the creator came up with. I love how Speedwagon is the ultimate hype man/narrator giving all the exposition. It wouldn’t work in most other shows but in this it just does LOL. I love all the over-the-top and awesome attack names especially because of some of the names being said in English. It’s great & heartwarming that a memory of his father & Danny is what helped Jonathan. He has a crazy amount of cleverness and courage. Episode 6 is great but there is not that much to say since it’s pretty battle heavy. I love seeing the display of Jonathan’s kindness, trust & courage and it was rewarded with another person passing on their spirit to him. I’m glad Bruford was given humanity and peace in death. This death game is disturbing and shows Tarkus’s brutality. To me he is not that memorable but I like Poco and his moment here. And then we have an ominous prophecy to worry about. I think the ending being different is just a different part of Roundabout. I am glad the comments are able to help you with the music references. Awesome reactions & keep up the great work. :-) <3

Oh yeah, it's way more fun to learn along the way! It is really fun to see the references pop up haha!

kamenriderhime

Hahahha what can I say, my brain is....unique in what it comes up with in these situations lol!

kamenriderhime

Yes, I love the way it's done! LOL it fits for Dio right. I know, I was shocked about Zeppeli! The bread line lol!! Good point about Dio's intelligence/powers, it's like the chicken and the egg I guess. Yeah his VA is spot on with so many of the lines!! Interesting that it's a combo of history and fiction. I agree, it's like we have a two-way narration but it works so well with the brand of this show hahaha. The attack names are great and I love that Jojo drew upon those memories! Yeah Bruford was able to get his soul back in a way. Tarkus seems so brutal!! I love reading about the references in the comments!!! Thanks so much for all your kindness and support, it means a lot!!!!!!! ^_^

Nathan Poulain Cigrand

Well too bad, Bruford didn't last very long, I'm not too sad but please, not my italian baron ! And surprisingly, Poco is not that bad, but yeah Speedwagon still best bro :p

kamenriderhime

Yeah, we wrapped that one up quick! Poco was fun and lol I can totally see Speedwagon being best boy!
