Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 3, episode 5 of REBELS!!!! Oh man, we get another Hera background ep!  I can't say it enough - I adore Hera!  And let's also hear it for Chopper who worked through some trauma in this ep too!  I was so proud of her for doing something drastic in order to save her family - both her dad and the family she's built.  The realization that home is the people closest to you and not an actual place, was a really heartfelt one.  Also THRAWN!!!  He is gonna be big trouble, isn't he???  Yikes!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

As the Jedi greeting goes... Hello There~! I just subscribed to your Patreon, and I am so happy to see your reactions to Rebels. I have to admit, I had to suppress a laugh when you were scared that Thrawn would destroy the Kalikori. A penchant for artwork is one of the things that defines Thrawn. Destroying art would be sacrilege to him, and we got to see him lose his cool at the prospect of it here! I look forward to your future Rebels reactions, along with other Star Wars stuff. May the Force be with you, always~! ^_^

Hello there Jonathan!!! :D Yay, welcome aboard!!! I LOVE Rebels, I truly hope you enjoy watching along with me, because this series is in my heart forever and ever! Haha yeah I can see how I was way off on that one now! I'm actually reading through the Timothy Zahn books now, hoping to get caught up before Ahsoka starts. I hope you love all my reactions!!! May the Force be with you!!!!!!!! XD

Always get chills when Thrawn’s theme plays like when he was talking to Hera, the organ was the perfect choice for him. Immediately let’s you know that this is someone to be scared of.

Princess, you might wanna read "Thrawn" novel from 2017 someday. Or its comic adaptation! I think you might like it. Ok, I will shut up and stop being annoying rn, Melissa, I promise. 😆

kamenriderhime

Oooh!!! That sounds really good, I read 2 of the 3 Thrawn books from the 90s I believe? So I'm sure I'd enjoy this too!!! No you're not annoying at all!!!! :D

Yeah Hera is amazing, as is her little war criminal murder droid! :P Firstly a variation on the kalikori was in Andor the other day as a nice easter egg. Thrawn uses the art, politics and history of the people he goes up against, to find out more about them, their strengths and weaknesses. He doesn't mind losing a few pieces on the board, if it will give him checkmate in the end. This is the first time our crew has been pitted directly against him, but now they know not to underestimate him. He set this up to see what our crew would do when their back is against the wall, and by blowing up her house, it shows Hera is willing to risk everything, to win, or escape. Thrawn being angry at Slavin; he doesn't like ignorance especially in his underlings as that encourages sloppy behaviour and gives the rebels a chance to get away. Slavin wasn't just rude about the culture of the Twileks, but was very xenophobic towards them too; and Thrawn has seen this behaviour before when he had to work through the ranks. The Thrawn v Hera scene is so good, showing his meticulous workings out and how dangerous he is, and Hera coming right back at him saying 'our will to be free is what's going to beat you'. Its that spirit that will bring down the Empire one day. Chopper just taking down dozens of stormtroopers because he can, gotta love him! :D

Have you noticed Star Wars comes up with some… interesting names for their critters? Like, who thought up Bluurg? Did someone have an accident in the cafeteria and get inspired…? It struck me watching Ezra sneak around that the Empire would be a lot more efficient if they required their Stormtroopers to carry IDs. They just assume everyone wearing their uniform is okay. This happens all the time! 😂 I do find it kinda ironic that Hera of all people feels guilty about taking on a personal mission. I mean, everyone else has done one at one point or another as far as I can think. She’s allowed to care about stuff that matters to her. Cham is willing to sacrifice himself for his daughter, but Hera doesn’t seem to realize that her own crew is more than willing to put themselves on the line for any of the others, if it matters to one of them, it matters to all of them. Thrawn is very interesting. He might be a problem, but there’s a part of me curious to see what he does. I think the biggest difference between him and the others is that he doesn’t see the rebels as just a bunch of pitiful annoyances. He’s playing the long game… chess, not checkers. When you prepare to go to war, first you study your opponent: how they move, how they think, what they react to… and then you have to devise your own strategy. I think he blew up at Slavin partially because he was being so dense and not comprehending that the rebels are not idiots. There’s a meme from RWBY that came out after Volume 5 of Blake giving her speech to the Faunus: “I did this… me! I set my house on fire!” Sounds like she’s not the only one who can use that. Also, Chopper and a crate of explosives - name a more iconic duo. (Rolls off droid-giggling).

Manny

Hera’s simply the best. Everyone has respect for her. Even Chopper, no ESPECIALLY Chopper couldn’t complain on a mission for Hera. 🤖 ♥️

kamenriderhime

Hahahha yes they are!!! Ohhh nice catch about the Easter egg! Yeah Thrawn is playing the long game. Hera is not playing for sure! But I'm glad they're aware of Thrawn now, he's gonna be trouble. Yeah that really did not set well with Thrawn, rightfully so, it's just weird to see someone in the Empire be so chillingly devious yet actually have a degree of respect for others at the same time...?? Yes!!! Hera embodies that spirit so much. Such a great scene! Hahahaha yes Chopper!!!!! What a great ep!

kamenriderhime

LOL I don't know who named the Blurgg, but they need a raise. :P Yeah, good thing the Empire didn't think about that with the Stormtroopers huh?? Oh I know, Hera's always there for everyone else's personal stuff!!!! So true that everyone wants to be there for her too. Yeah Thrawn is taking quite an interesting approach here. For sure, he was upset at the ignorance / disrespect. Hahahahaha Hera just joined the Blake club I guess :P Hahahahahaha there's no better duo!!!!!!!

Nick

Hera is a great character, and, despite there being a Jedi in the group, she is in many ways the real leader. Although, a better analogy might be that the group is like a family with Hera as the mother figure (and Kanan the father figure). As for Thrawn, he is an awesome, memorable villain to add to all the other awesome and memorable villains in the Star Wars universe. A great reaction, Melissa :-)

Saltire

I kind of agree about Hera being the leader. Kanan is Spectre One, and supposed to be the leader of the crew, but really its Hera's outfit. She's there for everyone when Kanan isn't (when he was working through his own stuff post-Malachor for example), and she has shown herself to be a great rebel leader now, on the battlefield, gathering resources and setting up the base.

kamenriderhime

Thanks so much Nick! And good point that you both brought up about Hera being the leader. She's for sure the one who I feel holds it together in this crew in so many ways!!!
