Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction to episode 143!  Whoa, after all that hard work to stay hidden, it turns out Tsubone was accidentally sending a live feed this whole time, shoot!  We have to face off with Illumi, who has no issue leaving a trail of bodies in his path by the way.  Sadly we can't keep some of the details of Nanika under wraps as a result, but there's still a big secret Killua is keeping........and Illumi knows that!!!!!!!  Hmmmm!!  Oh yeah, and the leader of the let's-hunt-Illumi faction apparently went too far....!!!  Ick, that didn't last long at all.  Hisoka is deadly when being used for any kind of agenda!!!  Speaking of which, he was freaking me out so bad in this one!!!  Can't wait to see what's next!  Great ep!  Enjoy!!  ~ MH

I actually wanted to ask this before but now that you've seen the opening for geats how would you rank them? From zero one to gears?

Hi Hime :) I hadn't paid too much attention in the previous episodes, but here Amane's voice seemed familiar to me... After a little research it's Marina Inoue, who voices Momo in My Hero Academia, Mai Zenin in Jujutsu or even Armin in AoT (even if personally I know her more for Yokko in Gurren Lagann and Kyoko from Skip Beat). And clearly, as Canary says, she has an undeniable cute side. Illumi is a villain that we love to hate and rather well written, for him he does nothing wrong, he just does what seems necessary to him, he has no notion of right and wrong since everything is the same thing. Good and evil, love and hate, these are two sides of the same coin for him. Staying in Killua's heart out of love or hate, makes no difference if he stays in Killua's heart. We can not approve of his conduct, but appreciate his writing. Tsubome Rider High didn't remind you of anything? She transforms, so in Japanese "henshin", for someone to become a "rider" on her. Especially since her first form was a motorcycle. I'm not saying it's really the inspiration, but Kamen Rider being a license that has been around for years, it wouldn't be surprising.

Manny

I gotta say Tsubone and Morel have been real troopers this arc. Morel has not even been trying and was still getting votes. I just like the control they have even when the aren't in full control. Did that make sense? Anyways I'm not sure what correlates Killua to solely Alluka. Maybe it's his attachment to her alone. Maybe he brings out the best with his care and compassion in a way that's not Zoldycky. The only thing I feel I know is a worry that with this new info they'll see a use for Nanika/something. The short-lived trio I think we saw them when the top 16 hunters were being showcased. So we didn't get a lot but just enough to know they were really aching to change things in a way they saw as commendable. Which I do admire. Idk if I'd agree with them cuz I'm not sure exactly what they were fully hoping to achieve but I do admire people who want to make a change for the presumably better. I think it's a trait that's worthy to have. Especially since so many turn cheeks because they don't want to deal with such shady people.

kamenriderhime

Oh good question! It's tough but I think I'd go #1 tie between Geats and Revice's themes because they are just both SO awesome, #2 Zero-One, and #3 Saber. It feels weird putting Saber at the bottom because it's so good also hahah, they just happen to have so many good ones for the Reiwa era so far!!!!! How about you?

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Oh wow!!! No kidding!!!!!!!! She's Armin too, WHAT?! She totally has a cute side lol. That's so true, Illumi is totally in the right from his own point of view. There's nothing villainous about him from that perspective. I can totally appreciate that writing! OMG yes, total Rider vibes for sure hahaha!!! I mean it's not exact but there is a henshin and a bike, soooo....!!!

kamenriderhime

They have! I totally get that! Maybe - caring, love and compassion as we think of them are practically nonexistent in this family so that's possible. Yeah we didn't see them much, sadly! We don't even really know the whole end game, so I agree it's hard to get behind them, but yeah, it's always good to want to make a positive change I suppose! Very true that it's better than doing nothing!

Sirghostfreak

Well if I gotta pick my list would be zero one (always my favorite) then it's this year's model which would be geats then it's revi and vices op then I'd put saber (because personally I liked the ending theme just a tad more

Sirghostfreak

Oh and you know that scene where anya is playing dodgeball it turns out that was a reference to dbz fight from the bardock special where she's puts the bandana on and where the guy gets hit with the attack

kamenriderhime

OHHHH hahahha I knew it was a reference to something! Honestly I was thinking Rambo at first, particularly Gizmo from Gremlins parodying Rambo hahha.

This was the episode I thought of during Killua's match with Illumi in the Final Phase. You said, when you first met Illumi (without his needles) that you thought he'd be willing to die to prove a point? Yeah, PROOF that he is, haha. Admitted it himself. But Hisoka! My man! He really is just out for one thing, and he reminds us every now and again, just to make sure we know he isn't having any kind of growth or character development LOL, I don't think we really forget this either, but as he kinda inadvertently helps us out, I think it's easy to forget what's most important for Hisoka; that bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum. I'm not sure what that scene says about Nanika, but this is what I'm gathering. Nanika is a very matter-of-fact, absolute kind of child who feels what she feels unapologetically--clearly. Perhaps, being happy to see Tsubone shows a serious lack in social awareness, and wanting human nails sounds terrible. But it seems to make her happy to have the wish made of her reconciled, the debt paid. And who better to satisfy that than a Zoldyck butter, really? But thinking on what sounds important to her; making wishes, paying off those wishes, and getting pats on the head from Killua... Nanika is certainly a very simple child, just super uber powerful too.

kamenriderhime

Ohhh nice! Oh wow, I guess I called that one way back when!!!! Dang! Hahahaha the only thing close to any kind of creed or standard that Hisoka follows, at the end of the day, is that bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum :P For anything else moral-related, it's kind of a free for all depending on how he feels! And yeah, he likes to remind us once in a while!! :P Yeah, I see what you mean about Nanika. I think unapologetic child is a great way to put it! There definitely isn't something inherently evil, but also not really inherently good....just kind of a child-like simplicity in the process.

The-Buddyguard

If Togashi is good at anything, it's making characters with no clearly good or evil moral base, just very clear motivations; Hisoka and Killua being interesting examples of that. But there aren't too many examples more pure than Nanika, just raw power, and no personal desire to use it, just satisfied that it gets used 👌

kamenriderhime

Very true! Yeah Nanika is really the best example of just total lack of good/evil as we think of them. But it's for sure a theme somewhat throughout all of HxH! They've even implied that Gon isn't really motivated by good/bad, but just his own curiosity in a way!

The-Buddyguard

Precisely. Which isn't a bad way to define hunters: Very curious, very powerful individuals, with very clear motivations, generally focused on a specific topic of personal interest.
