Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2 episode 23 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime!  WHOA!!!  So much dropped on me in this ep!  Milim was not controlled this whole time?!  You mean to tell me she took that punch and didn't even flinch?!!?!!  Our girl is WAY more disciplined than I thought!!!  Also, she's VELDORA'S NIECE?!?!?!  Oh yeah, let's not forget how Clayman has reached the height of his annoying-ness.  Really thought this was the end of him....but looks like there's one more fight to be fought!  Wow!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

When I first saw this episode and saw Veldora spamming Hadoukens i lost my shit. After he used a Kamehameha I was done. I love this anime so much.

You know, at some point we will get the word “penultimate” ingrained into your noggin. 😁 In the meantime… Veldora didn’t rush to Rimuru to save him… he was mad because he got cliffhanged. “You can’t end me there just when it’s getting good!” Hmm… this… reminds me of someone… 👀 Veldora’s fighting style has a lot of different references, maybe he’s been reading a lot of Japanese material recently? That can’t be a coincidence. It’s kind of hilarious how while Clayman is dueling, Rimuru’s just talking to everyone else in his circle and negotiating. Clayman is beneath him. Which reminds me… I would like to pay myself on the back for saying Rimuru was going to make a mockery of him when they finally hashed it out. Although I didn’t picture it being quite THIS bad… 😅 By the way, the character is despicable and you absolutely detest him… but part of that is because Clayman’s VA is doing a good job. It’s one thing to inhabit a character role but it takes a bit of talent to make people absolutely hate you on screen, and it’s something that should be acknowledged. Milim was playing this whole tone…? Uh… sure! I wasn’t fooled! I was just uh… stringing you along in the comments section! I knew when she destroyed Carrion’s kingdom it was all an act! I didn’t look ahead, I’m just that perceptive! …You’re not buying any of this, are you? 😅 Like I said, heaven help us if Milim ever teams up with Ryuuta from Den-O…. 😬 But I digress… we’re at a banquet watching this laugher of a fight… AND WE DON’T EVEN GET POPCORN!? I’d like to speak to the manager please. 👀

This episode was full of interesting tidbits and action, but they still left some things out. I've seen enough reactors be confused by the same things, so a lot of the things I've been telling you up to now was to fill it the gaps in these Walpurgis episodes, so you would have all the important information. So many times I had to hold myself back from even suggesting that Milim might not be controlled. But you were so sure! Some of the Skills Shion has were how Shion couldn't be controlled, for example, the Perfect Memory which restores her damaged mind, (from being resurrected), and the Guaranteed Results from Master Chef, to achieve certain things in battle. Also, we come back to the True Demon Lord issue with Clayman. That last desperate desire of his not to die yet caused the Words of the World to give him power, but it was only a temporary or half-awakening, because he did not go through the proper procedure. I really looked hard a couple of times to understand why Clayman had to "awaken" (there a multiple versions of "awakening") to free the souls, but all I can find is that during his awakening the souls were converted to energy to feed his power-up. This makes it look like that's a good thing, and maybe it is here.

Now there are a few odds and ends. It might not have been clear that the Progenitor demons are the first demons. I think they came into being on their own. Beretta uses demon logic again to make her and Ramiris' case to come live in Tempest, although Rimuru blames it on Ramiris. Guy knew Milim wasn't under control the whole time, she is resistant, and Clayman can't be strong enough (because Milim has an Ultimate Skill while Clayman doesn't). I wonder why Milim thought she could punch Rimuru that hard and him survive it. I also have always been suspicious of this so-called Stampede Skill Milim is supposed to have, maybe Frey made it up to get Clayman to stop hitting Milim. Incidentally, Milim had to work hard to lower her defenses when Frey put the necklace on her so Clayman would be fooled. She also ate green peppers to maintain her blank facial expression. I also thought I noticed that Rimuru is taller than Milim, which I don't think was the case before.

There was a conspiracy between Frey and Milim, as well as an overlapping one with Clayman and Frey. This was to further Clayman's goal of putting Milim and Frey in a position to support his wishes with the other Demon Lords, and so Clayman could become a True Demon Lord. It's a bit separate from Clayman's plans to get rid of Rimuru, etc. If you recall way back in season 1, Tear reports to Clayman that Frey seemed distracted. Since Frey and her people battle in the sky, they have a particularly bad opinion of Charybdis as their nemesis, and Frey could sense Charybdis' imminent return. Clayman plotted to control Milim to have her destroy Charybdis in exchange for putting the necklace on Milim, and to support his call for a Walpurgis. Meanwhile, Frey and Milim are plotting to have Milim destroy Charybdis too, while planning to trick Clayman. They noticed Clayman wasn't acting normally, and had become a bit reckless. The part about killing Carrion, I'm not sure whether it's about pinning the blame on Rimuru, or there was another reason.

Fun Fact: Some source has stated that Milim keep a bell pepper in her mouth for the whole time, and that's why she able to play a dull face like she was controlled. More to that, she might also looking for the oppotunity to fight Rimuru for a long time. This is her best chance. Veldora: Kamehameha! Veldora has mentioned before that there are only 4 True Dragon in the world. Seems that they all siblings, and Veldora is the youngest. Milim is the daughter of the oldest of 4 True Dragons. That's make Milim Veldora's niece. Also, Veldora aura seems to be intense enough to created various monsters even without his intent if he let his aura flow out. Even Charybdis is also considering as one of Velodra children, or we just call that way because how it looks like. But then... what about Rimuru? Rimuru seems to born in Veldora's sealed cave, which mean he also born from Veldora aura?

ABHB Ya-iba

If you asked where did Veldora learn all that skill. It is inside Rimuru stomach! It seems that during the time Veldora was consumed by Rimuru, he has nothing to do, so he just watch Rimuru's daily activity or analyze some of Rimuru's previous life memory. And since Rimuru was one of an otaku, Veldora gains a lot of manga, anime, and games memory, Which make him capable of leaning skills from Rimuru's previous world popular culture, Another interesting Fact, Clayman is voiced by the same voice actor with the one and the greatest villain of all time, DIO from Jojo's bizarre adventure. It contrasts how lame Clayman is compared to DIO's impressive power and charisma. Also, Shion has said something like "useless" when destroying Clayman's attack, which is one of DIO's remarkable catchphrases, "USELESS!!!". Oh, just REALxEYEZ. I think Rimuru was at the same height as Milim before, but now he's get taller. Pretty sure that it is the result of Demon Lord Evolving. And the one responding Clayman's request is the "Word of the World", not really sure how to call it, but its just like a moderator of the game or something like that.

Here I was feeling a smidge of pity for Clayman’s “final thoughts” and at the last moment he got me

myst0dreamer

Yeah, that idea about Rimuru being generated from Veldora's aura or magicules is something they start to say more often as they get further along in the story. I suspect (and if you read the afterwords of the LN he kind of admits it) it does seem that the author adds some elements that wasn't necessarily there at the beginning. It becomes more relevant as events unfold.

myst0dreamer

Yes, I noticed that particular height difference for the first time while watching this episode with Melissa, even though I knew Rimuru had grown taller after he became a DL. I don't even know how many times I've seen this episode, but I guess you can always discover something new.

kamenriderhime

Ahhh it's always on the tip of my tongue! :P Hahahaha I love that Veldora just showed up for the manga! LOL I don't know what you mean :P Oh yeah I'm sure it's just a big coincidence that he pulled out some pretty famous manga/anime moves...! Lol yeah Clayman is so far beneath him at this point. Good call!!! But yeah it was utterly humiliating for Clayman, wouldn't want it any other way! Oh yes, couldn't agree more about Clayman's VA!!! Sorry I didn't praise him enough, he's absolutely doing his job well here. Riiiiggght you were playing your own long game too, trying not to spoil me...let's say that! I was totally fooled by Milim though! Hahaha oh what a match made in heaven...or in hell, depending on how you look at it! :P OMG RIGHT?! Like who was in charge of catering for this thing?! There definitely needs to be words. :P

kamenriderhime

Thanks for filling in the blanks for me! And omg, that must have been so hard to keep under wraps, you did great lol! I never suspected a thing! Right, I remember Shion having a ton of upgrades that really safeguard her. Yeah I wasn't sure about the awakening freeing the souls, I assumed it was a detail I missed or they didn't go over....but cool that Rimuru was a step ahead in any event!

kamenriderhime

Ohhhhh I didn't realize that actually! Oh yeah, Guy would have known something like that, interesting! Makes sense! Oh perhaps Frey did make it up, good point. I guess she knew Rimuru could take it haha. Oh wow peppers were the key lol! She and Frey put on quite the show, it couldn't have been easy. Oh I didn't even realize that about the height!

kamenriderhime

Gotcha! Wow, they were playing a game within a game....crazy! But thanks for clarifying about Rimuru's place in it.

kamenriderhime

Hahaha I love the pepper fun fact! Veldora's Kamehameha was everything! Oh that's a good point about the True Dragons. Yes I agree that Rimuru was born of Veldora somehow, they've always been more or less related in a way right? Interesting!

kamenriderhime

Ohhhhh wow! That makes sense, he had lots of memories to draw upon haha. No kidding about the VA! I'm hoping to watch Jojo soon so I'm sure I'll appreciate that even more! Good call, both of you, on the height! I didn't notice until you both brought it up. Yeah I was trying to think of the name, something about words and worlds lol, but I at least knew it wasn't Raphael so yay for knowing something I guess? Lol

ABHB Ya-iba

I think it is "word of the world". Like when you play game and level up, there's gonna be someone that say you have leveled up.

darkchaos125

1) Love Veldora spamming those Hadoukees XD 2) Keep that cute multi-tailed fox in the back of your head when we see future season. That's all I'll say without spoiling anything ^^ Edit: I forgot to mention, the Light Novels explained that around the time after Rimuru's evolution to Demon Lord, pretty much all of the Ogres who served under him, especially Benimaru and Shion, are as strong as or 'almost' as strong as Demon Lords. I'm mentioning this cuz Benimaru was shown to easily defeat a fragment of Charybdis and Shion calling Clayman weak.
