Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 3, episode 3 of REBELS!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You guys, we JUST had a huge epic start to the season, and there's MORE?!  Maul is back and badder than ever, forcing Ezra and Kanan's hands with the whole holocron situation in order to save our crew.  Also, Bendu is back, yaayyyy!!  Was happy to see the two of them figure things out even more.  And last but not least, just what in the heck did Maul and Ezra see?!  There's only one possibility that really makes sense to me, and that's Obi-Wan!!!  (Twin suns line plus Maul's evil glee reaction lol.)  What an ep!  Can't wait for more!  Great ep!  Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

Oh boy… THAT ENDING! It’ll be a long wait but man I’m excited for that!

Damnit Maul, destroying one of Leia's frigates! Calling Ezra 'our apprentice', what a stirrer he is! Even the way he taunts Kanan later by telling him to 'follow the sound of my voice', reminding us it was him that blinded Kanan. And then spacing him after! :D Yes Kanan's real name is Caleb Dume, understandably he changed it when he was a kid in hiding. Kanan saying Ezra needs to learn to solve problems without his lightsabre. He is exactly right. What makes a Jedi is not how strong they are in the force, how great a warrior, or how proficient with a lightsabre they are; its about seeing things from 'a different point of view' as Obi-Wan says later; and we saw in the younglings arc when the kids were looking for their kyber crystals. If Jedi keep focussed and have patience, a solution will present itself to them, a lesson Ahsoka learnt from Tera Sinube when her lightsabre got stolen, and Plo Koon. Kanan/Caleb himself is starting to finally find balance within him, the way he is now carrying himself and sounding more Jedi-like. Having said that, there is a reminder here of all that he has lost as we see him stumbling around the caves in the dark sightless. Its a very melancholic moment; he has accepted it, but Ezra still feels guilt about Malachor. And when Kanan tells him to let go of his guilt and Ezra hugs him, it gets me every time. Just noticed Zeb kicked Chopper into the wall on the ship for a diversion, no wonder Chopper doesn't like him! :D I was going to speak about the holocron scene, but perhaps its then better to let you speculate further Mel if you are unsure.

Have you noticed that every time Maul shows up something references an Indiana Jones movie accidentally? This time it was don’t look inside. 😂 So, it seems that Ezra’s (sorry couldn’t think of a better word), passion, is probably his biggest Hangul because he doesn’t want to lose his friends and that seems to be what’s being exploited by darker forces. I don’t have as much context as people who have seen Clone Wars, so I’ll leave theorizing there alone. But perhaps Kanan and Ezra being forced to work together by Bendu will end up helping them overcome their struggles. Two holocrons combined can answer any question? What is this, the Relic of Knowledge? Where’s the big blue genie woman? So, I know you get massively entertained by certain characters on this show… but I’m wondering the level of brain break you’d sufferif we ever got Maul and Hondo in the same episode… as if things weren’t chaotic enough, right? (Now I kind of want to see just HOW chaotic…) 😁

Haha Rebels can definitely provide surprises and shocks in a good way. This is a great episode, with Maul at his entertaining best (as usual the voice acting adds a lot to this), and Bendu being vastly entertaining too - again the voice acting in this series being consistently excellent. On the voice acting, I want to shout out for the lady that voices Hera: she gets my vote for being the best of an outstanding bunch of voice actors that contribute to the series (see what you think by the end of the series but I’ll say no more 😉).

Jeremy Bassett

I love how we get Maul in just a polo shirt and pants in this one.

What a twist!!! I’m so antsy to see answers!!! I’m so giddy I’m hoping your theory is right 😁😁😁😁

kamenriderhime

It sure does! Maul is soooo fun to watch, couldn't agree more about the VA! So is Bendu!! Oh yes Hera's VA is also incredible!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see what you mean!!!

Saltire

There is a Maul and Hondo episode in Clone Wars, and its a cracker! :D

Saltire

Vanessa Marshall, who plays Hera, has her own voice acting school for up and coming VA's. She's been doing it for years.

Nick

Thanks: I don’t think I had heard that before!

Haha stinkin' Maul!!! Oh I know, he's got some nerve. Uggghh so true about the subtle rubbing it in to Kanan too, not to mention spacing him!!! That's interesting about Kanan's real name. So true, Kanan really had a point there. And that's a great point about all we've learned about the Jedi before. That's the whole point of being a Jedi in a way, as ironic as it is, seeing as how the lightsaber is synonymous with them (or with Sith I guess, but you know). Kanan is for sure sounding more Jedi like! Awww I know, it is hard to see just how much he's lost!! The hug!!!! Hahahaha yeah I saw the kick, poor Chop! Hmm, at this rate I'm thinking it's Obi-Wan. But why not keep it a surprise I guess haha!

kamenriderhime

Hahha I didn't realize that actually, but wow! Yeah, it's weird to think caring for others could be a hangup, but it goes to show it's all what you make of it and what you let it do to you. Yeah I have a feeling working together helped their bond! Hahahaha Maul AND Hondo?!!? MY brain is broken for sure!!!!!!!
