Hey everyone!  I'm back today with episode 2 of Andor!!!  Oh dang, my investment is slowly creeping up now!!!  Another episode where we learn more about the characters, introduce some new elements, things take a few twists, etc.!  I just know this one officer is gonna be really bad news for Cassian!  I also enjoyed getting to see the character interactions a bit more in this one.  I have a feeling stuff's gonna start to hit the fan in episode 3!  Can't wait!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

It’s always rather interesting how Star Wars can combine something as primitive and nature based as the Kelari scenes with the futuristic tech of the Empire. It would seem that while Morlana One has corporate authority over Ferris (the planet we’re on), the citizens don’t really take too well to the so called higher-ups. You know, it seems you’re complaining a lot about Empire people being too good at their jobs this week - between Rebels and this. Although the difference is… these two jokers seem to be acting on their own volition without knowing what they’re getting into. Have you noticed that 90 percent of problems men cause each other are over a woman? Sheesh, Bix goes out for one beer with a friend and Timm gets all jealous. Also, the mom figure is Maarva. Bed is the droid’s nickname, it’s real name is a bunch of letters and numbers that kinda look like the word Beemo. I’m not sure what Cassian is thinking in the flashback when the leader gets shot. Even the subtitles version didn’t want to translate. A couple of housekeeping notes: this series was written by the same person who made the film “The Bourne Legacy.” Without getting spoilery its kind of a “one man just trying to survive as a capable fighter and all the world is against him” type show. Which fits the way Cassian keeps running into obstacles. Since you’ve seen Episode 3 by now, the character in question riding the ship is named Luthan Rael. (It was in the credits). “This individual looks really familiar.” Well, there’s a reason: he should to you. That actor is Stellan Skarsgard, who’s in a lot of other movies and shows. You might recognize him as Dr. Erik Selvig, the professor in the Thor movies who works with Jane, or Bootstrap Bill Turner, Will’s dad in Pirates of the Caribbean. But you’ve ALSO seen him in another reaction series. He played Boris Scherbina in “Chernobyl,” the government aide who was basically the second most prominent person in the show and always helping out the main character during their investigation and problem solving. He’s all over the place! :)

Real swearing, mentions of brothels and implied coitus in Star Wars! This is definitely not A New Hope (where Carrie Fisher had to tape up her more prominent regions!), thats for sure! Hailing from the UK its fun seeing a few side actors I recognise who got their acting breaks in soap operas! The chubby sergeant and the guy in the opening episode who Cassian shot, played infamous characters in these soaps before heading off to further their careers. And to see them in the likes of Star Wars and Chernobyl (the sergeant was in that where he played a miner who worked in the nude due to the heat - and he was in that with the guy you thought looked familiar, Stellan Skarsgaard), is great, especially as unlike a lot of soap actors, they can truly act. Its weird but also I'm kind of delighted for them! I don't know if you recognise Fiona Shaw as Maava either, but she was Aunt Petunia in Harry Potter. So far this seems a much more character driven show, since we don't know these characters. Sure we have seen Andor before, but we don't know his background or why he was this very shady rebel who makes difficult choices, many he'll have to live with (well until he's blown up by your pal Tarkin Melissa!); but the others also with whom we don't know anything about, and they all seem to have their own individual fleshed out stories. Its giving time to the writing and letting the actors work with it, instead of sometimes what we see in Star Wars, where we see these more linear characters who have to rely on action and set-pieces to flesh out their stories. This all may change however, as we see more familiar characters like Mon Mothma and perhaps/probably Bail Organa and Saw Gerrera show up. Ahsoka is Fulcrum at this stage, but I do not think for one minute we'll see her in this series, we don't need to. The guy researching the Kenari system said it was a 'mining disaster' and had an Imperial Prohibition Order there; in Rogue One when the Empire destroys Jedha with Cassian and Jyn just getting out, the excuse given to the senate for its destruction was, a 'mining disaster'. The guy who did this show, wrote Rogue One, so thats not coincidental and speaks of something more shady that happened on Cassian's world. I had a chuckle to myself with the tribal flashback scene, thinking I hope these kids (note no adults in their tribe) don't run into Ewoks, that will spell doom for all of them! :P

Yeah that was a nice combo of aesthetics. Oh gotcha, thanks for explaining the hierarchy! Hahah yeah it seems to be a recurring theme right! Yeah that dude was waaayyy out of line if you ask me, like for heaven's sake, have you ever heard of having a conversation bro?? Thanks for clarifying on the names! I really like Bee! Yeah it's kinda interesting that there's no subtitles though, it leaves more to the imagination perhaps? Ohhh interesting about the writer! Thanks for the info on the name! Ahhhh yes, I realized I'd seen him in tons of other places after this one!!! Thanks for the info!

I know, such mature stuff for Star Wars!!! :O No kidding, that's so interesting about the actors! Ohhhh I didn't even realize that about the sergeant! I'm so happy you're excited to see them!!! It's really cool they're getting to flex their acting muscles here! Ohhhhh Maarva did look somewhat familiar, that would be why! Very true about how the show is character driven. Ahhhh of course it would be that son of a gun Tarkin who blows him up, grrrrr!!! It's interesting to get to know everyone. Good point, definitely letting the characters carry this instead of the action. I'd love to see Ahsoka too but yeah, she's Fulcrum at the moment so it won't happen, and like you said, it's not necessary at this point either. Oh!!! I didn't even catch that correlation about the mining disaster!! Good call! Hahahahaha omg if the kids ran into Ewoks, that would be quite messy!!!!!!!!

On Ahsoka, I think the writer said there wasn't going to be any fanservice with this series, so I don't expect to see cameo's unless they will be fundamental to the storyline. Luthen Rael is Cassian's boss so we won't need Ahsoka in there just to confuse things. Plus I think she is more involved in the Outer Rim, and this is Mid-rim of the galaxy I believe. There is one easter egg in these episodes however that you'll now get. In the shipyard that gets locked from the guy in the hat with the beasties, right in the background, there is a VCX-100 ship there, the very same ship that The Ghost is. Obviously at this time Hera has her ship and is probably at this moment throwing Zeb and Ezra off The Ghost to pick up Meiloorun fruits!! However its a nice nod for the fanbase. :)
